I get 2 Protein shakes (lunch and bkfast) and then one protein meal with a no carb veggie. I also can have a small serving of cottage cheese with my protein meal since it is also protein. I had a couple of bites just now of the cottage cheese even though I normally eat it later. I thought who cares what part of the day it is. I know I can do this and am at work so I am doing something other than looking at food. I also think if I even considered touching something else those around me would 'kill' me. haha As soon as I get out of work I am gonna go home and walk a bit and read for my class tomorrow. I'll make it an early bed night so I dont eat.

Normally I would be concerned about that also but I have been on my pre-op plan for my 3rd day as of today. Normally I get different types of nutrition including bananas which helps with potassium. I figured since I havent had anything but Protein shakes for the last 2 days that is where they are coming from. Anyone else have experience with these as well?

Thanks for that info... any other possible suggestons?

I also am with the same Dr as one of the other posters. I am on my 2nd day of my pre-op plan. I get 2 shakes (bkfast and lunch) and then a Protein meal for dinner. If needed then I can have a 3rd shake as necessary if I am starving. So far so good.

OMG OMG OMG i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!! My xrays came back and my lungs are CLEARRRRR! I told the nurse I love her and I'll get rid of these cold symptoms I have :biggrin:

OK, so today is day 2 of my liquid diet. My first day went a little better than expected and I wasnt overly hungry. I am going to try and plan today to do what I did yesterday in hopes that it helps. Hope everyone else is ok. I think it would be good if we started a Dr. Dietrick thread so we can keep in touch together and maybe find some others.

My only problem is I am short on time. I am scheduled for surgery on the 29th and my previous chest x-ray was fine. It was only because he heard something different with my lungs that he made me have a 2nd one. The results should have been delivered today but claimed they didnt have them as of 12:30 pm. The Dr wont be even be in until tomorrow (thursday) so even if it was delivered later he wont be able to see them until then. I am just more anxious to have this all go right, especially since I am now on my liquid diet.

Thanks for the support. I had my first shake and took FOREVER to drink it. I would say 2 hours would cover it lol.. they said slow right Since it is already 2pm I am doing ok.. I am sure day 2 will be harder. I have a pork chop with cottage cheese and Broccoli for my dinner later. I have not heard anything about my x-ray as when I called them to change a future appt they had not received it. It is important that I make sure they get it today cause even though the Dr wont see it until tomorrow I dont want him to get it tomorrow.

It is memorable for me in a different way. This was the day my insurance approved me

Hey Audrey, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I so need them right now as today is the first day of my pre-op plan. I so far have had my morning shake but still sipping on it hoping it lasts forever. haha.

Thanks, I stopped at walmart after surgeons and got my shakes, juice, etc. It was nice to hear that I can have a 3rd shake if necessary cause I will definitely need it. It was also good to hear that we dont have to do Clear liquids that first week. Will be nice to have some variety.

Yes I found the new office quickly and it was much nicer than the old one. Everything was quick, precise and to the point. the only thing I thought I would have an issue with is the home injection but even that seems ok now. they sent me over to the hospital to due the xray immediately but it could be anything from coughing I have been doing. I immediately went to walmart and got mucinex DX to see if I cant break up whatever it is that is there.

I am being banded the 30th, my pre-op is tomorrow the 16th and I start my liquid diet on the 17th.

I am happy to say that I received notice that my surgery is approved. I am scheduled for pre-op tomorrow (tue) and have the surgery scheduled for the 29th. Now that it is real I am a bit nervous.

I am also now September 30th... YIPPIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

OK, so everything looks wonderful at this point. Now is when the nervousness sets in cause I have had so much going on and not sure what to think until insurance approves everything. Well the good news is insurance approved it as of September 11th and I have my pre-op appointment on Tuesday. I know that they will explain everything to me on tuesday but does anyone who had it done at UCH can they tell me what the pre-2 weeks were like? thanks patty

I am almost done in my process of getting the lap band done. I have one more physician assisted diet visit with my primary care physician on Aug 6th and then all those note will go to my surgeon. Once the surgeon gets them they will submit to insurance. I have my pre-op after I get back from my cruise on Sept 16th and then surgery the 29th. I think more than anything I am anxious about waiting for everyone else to do their part. The most important part of that being the insurance. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Patty

OK, so the insurance got approved. I have my pre-op appt this tuesday and cannot wait. I have all my paperwork ready to go. The surgery date is still set for the 29th as originally planned. I am a bit anxious bout the 2 week plan but we'll see what happens Tue. Patty

The insurance Gods shone down upon me. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I called while on my cruise Thursday and found out that after the initial denial that they received everything else and I am APPROVED. Thank you GOD! Patty

I talked to my surgeon's office after I hand delivered my PCP notes on a Wednesday. I was told that either that Friday or Monday they would be submitting to insurance. I waited till the end of this week to call insurance to see if they received it yet. They tell me that the surgeons office just called Yesterday (thur) to get their fax number. I'm thinkin God here I am sitting just waiting and they havent submitted yet.

I have very last and final visit Wed the 6th with my primary. They will be faxing over my notes to the surgeon same day. I just have to wait for the surgeon's office to submit (2 days max) to insurance and then the waiting game begins. I am way beyond anxious at this point.

I am almost in the same position but I have one more visit for my PCP that I have to attend. Once that is done it goes to the approval process. I already have my pre-op and surgery date scheduled so at this point I am more anxious. good luck

I too had to jump through hoops in order to have this done. I have been seeing my PCP for a while now and we discuss weight. Then I found out in March '08 that my insurance requires 6 months CONTINUOUS visits for me to be considered. So now the time has come and I have my sixth and final visit in less than 2 weeks, Aug 6th.. As soon as that is done they will be faxing my notes to the surgeon and they are going to submit for my insurance. As of right now I have my surgery scheduled for Sept 29th. This allows me the time to go on the cruise I have had planned for a year and then make my pre-op meeting. I am willing to do whatever is necessary for insurance to improve it. (especially since I am changing companies next year)

I appreciate that. He seems like a really nice guy and look forward to working with him. At this point I am just anxious to get there.
