Is there anyone else out there that will have to give themselves blood thinner shots while recovering for a couple of days afterwards?
-
i am having mine covered through insurance and am staying overnight. i may be having a little bit later surgery as of right now im supposed to go in at 3:30 pm but chances are it will be moved up. i just like the idea of having professionals there if i need it and pain meds administered when i need it.

well it sounds like you are all ready to go. just long enough for one to heal before the other one goes through. have either one of you called the dr to ask any other questions during this process? I know that i have as i was supposed to get an allergy shot tomorrow but i didnt wanna get it without their approval and they said no. I am still tryin to get the stuffies out of my note. I am feeling 10x's better and sound better.

blood thinner shots?
Pradice73 replied to Pradice73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure you will do great. I have had outpatient surgery before so I am ok with that portion except that I have not had the tube down my throat. -
Hey there, Yeah I kind of figured after I looked at his profile he was. haha I know he goes in tomorrow and I am sure he is very anxious and will do wonderful. You will have to let me know how he does tomorrow once ya'll get settled. I am doing well on my pre-op diet. I have really only had one day that was really bad and that was day 3. I did not cheat in any fashion but I was so hungry. At this point I am taking it just one day at a time and listening to my stomach when I need to eat again. I already have my time approved off from work so I will be able to relax comfortably. I will return to work the following monday but I am always off on tue and wed so I would only need to get thru the one 10 hour day and then have another 2 to rest again. How is your pre-op going?

Hello, I have seen alot of people post that the first night or two they sleep in a lounge chair in their living room (not the backyard kinds). I do not have one of these available to me and was wondering if this would be an issue. What are your thoughts on this as I only have a bed.

3 days post op and needs some advise!
Pradice73 replied to Shauna80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure about anyone else but I have worked very hard to get to this point. I am doing my pre-op diet and have not cheated with one morsel. Even when I cried in the grocery store on saturday I did not give in. If my doctor tells me to stand on my head and count to 50 I will do it. I dont want to risk any chance of failure on this one. -
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! There is another one of us as well who is being banded 2 days after me. I am going in on the 29th (monday). Then there was someone else that I believe has already been banded. You'll have to post how you did when you get home to let us know how you did. How is your pre-op diet going?
-
thanks for all of the information. I think I may look into a wedge for the bed since I have great pillows but not sure they would be good for support on layin on.

OK, so I comfortably made it through the weekend and am starting day 6 of my pre-op diet. I get banded next monday and can't wait. I only had one bad pre-op diet day and now it kind of feels that I can handle the rest of the week with no problem... keeping fingers crossed. Hope you all have a great day.

I went in for my pre-op today and everything was fine till he listened to my lungs. Over the past week I have been coughing alot but felt ok. He said when he heard me exhale that in my lungs it sounded like a flutter. They sent me right over to the hospital and I had a chest xray done again. They will have the results sent to the Dr by 10am. I am a bit anxious and upset cause I have worked this hard that I dont want anything to be wrong. Has anyone else had this type of thing happen?

blood thinner shots?
Pradice73 replied to Pradice73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for letting me know that. I had heard that the bruising could happen so I will keep an eye out for it. -
That is wonderful. I know how frustrating it is just to have to do all the 6 monthly visits let alone any more. My doctor had recommended this type of surgery as of the beginning of 2007 and I wanted to wait to try and loose it on my own AGAIN. Apparently that didnt work as I put on quite a bit of weight with my back problems and little activity. Crossing fingers for quick response from ins

Oh good even better to know someone did what I have to do. The needle did not look so bad when they showed it to me so it is all in my head. -

ok I wasnt sure what others were doing because I had a friend who said 'well I didnt need those'. I wanted to say well maybe he isnt as cautious as my dr is but I let it go. I have to do the Lovenox shot for 7 days, once a day. They are better than the heparin which would have been 3 times a day for 10 days. Lucky me haha -
Good Morning, I am also being banded on the 29th of this month. I am already starting my 5th day of the pre-op plan which for the most part has been ok except on day 3, that was the roughest. I am also in the process of getting rid of all this cold congestion I have to make sure I wont have any issues surgery day. I am 34 years old and live in Tampa. No children or husband. I too also work as a insurance agent for a large insurance company. I wish you the best of luck in your new banding. Once you start your pre-op plan you will see that it isnt so bad and so far I have been 100%

Welcome!!! I am also being banded on the 29th. I am in the middle of my pre-op diet and today was way better than yesterday. I also like the atkins advantage and the myoplex lite.

OK, so I made a concession and decided to take a small piece of the chicken I made for my dinner tonight and ate it with my afternoon protein shake. It shouldnt matter if I ate it now or later or half and half as long as I dont add anything unnecessarily. I do feel a bit better now.

:sad:I am on the 3rd day of my pre-op diet and I am being banded on the 29th but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hungry. I wanna cry and go to bed
-
I am starting my 3rd day for pre-op diet and i woke up with leg cramps in middle of night. I am assuming this is from my potassium level and is there anyone else who had/has this problem. What did you do to correct it.

They were ok with you using the gatorade even though it has the higher sugar content?

Thanks so much for the support as I am really struggling.
