  1. I had my surgery on the 29th of september. I had called the nutritionist to find out if SF pudding was in mushies or my full liquids stage. She said they dont normally recommend it till the mushies but it would not hurt me if I feel that I am hungry. Well at that point I put it off another 2 days and today I thought I would give it a try. I am not sure how I feel about this. I just took my baby spook and dipped it in the end of the chocolate SF pudding like 4 times. I do not feel like I am cheating or anything but maybe the fear of eating the wrong thing and getting sick. I am sitting here now seeing how that does with my stomach before I continue. Is it normal to feel like this? the fear of the unknown?

    Not sure how to feel

Oh I really agree. yea with the chicken salad they said I can use the stuff in the can just like the tuna. I was also debating, due to money straints, if I could just baked some chicken.. shred it with a knife and then throw it into my blender if that wouldnt be just the same and at least I know what I am eating. I can then add mayo to it.

    Not sure how to feel

I see that we have approximately the same amount of weight to loose also. I just finished my tablespoon of pudding and just taking time to listen to my body and see how it sounds. So far nothing different than when I drink a Protein shake so I am taking that as a good sign. Just thinking how tuesday will be when i can start eating chicken salad and applesauce.
  4. I would follow what your doctor says. Mine is a little more lenient than most I see on here but I am going by him and not others. I only have to do a week of full liquids and then a week of mushies, which includes the taters u mentioned. I am not sure what happens then since I meet with him again for my 2 weeks apt a week from this tue and I will get more info then
  5. I too am having the gas pains. Have been doing the walking and today got the gas-x strips. I was banded on the 29th and did not even get the pains until today (sat) at 3am. I knew that moment I needed to walk so I threw on my shoes and walked the neighborhood. Didnt even care that i was in my pj's.

    New to group

I am from Tampa Florida and recently banded as of the 29th of September by Dr. Dietrick at UCH. I am still in my first week of full liquids and doing quite well. Other than being uncomfortable at some of the incision sites, like the port I am diong well.

    Driving after surgery

my doctor said one week. you have to be able to turn your head around to look behind you, which requires stomach muscles.
  8. I have been home since the day after (tuesday) and have been doing ok i guess. I had quite a bit of pain on tuesday around 3pm because i had fallen asleep and my drugs must have warn off. So as of right now i take my liquid lortab every four hours till i get more comfortable getting around. i have not used any hot/cold packs but took my first shower today and i felt a little better.
  9. I had my surgery on the 29th. I went in at 10:45 am and filled out some paperwork then was taken to pre-op. There I was given a gown and socks. They did blood work, pregnancy test and reviewed a bunch of paperwork with different people. Doctor came by around 12:30 pm and said they were running about 30 minutes behind and we would be going soon. Last thing I remember was talking to someone and I think I recall someone putting an oxygen mask over my face. The next thing I remember was going into my new room at it was already about 6:15. Apparently it took me quite a bit to come out of it in recovery. All in all it went very well because i dont remember most of it, and im ok with that hahaha
  10. To all of you September 29th banders. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I myself am being banded and expect everything to go well. I sit here at work and sip on my Protein shake as I wait to leave and all I can think about is my last burger for a while. I plan on going home and making my burger on the george foreman. I was so tempted to go out last night and have my last chance of wings but once I got out there I made the decision it was not worth it. Who would have thought I would ever turn down wings. Tides are a changing and I am definitely ready...

    Tomorrow is our day

thanks. I made it home around 10am today and was doing fine till i took a nap. I laid down until i got up at 3pm and holy lordy. i ached all over but mostly in my belly and diaphram. As sad as it sounds i am just dying to let out one big fart.. my poor brother. i have tried laying on my side to help facilitate that but so far it isnt comfortable that way.
  12. well i would like to just say shoot him.. but that wouldnt be right i suppose. next best thing is to throw him out

    Last of the September Samurais

Congratulations to the last of the September Samauri's. I was banded yesterday and have not noticed much of a difference as of yet. I am still sitting in my private hospital room watching tv and sucking down an atkins strawberry shake. I have also been walking, walking, walking.

    Tomorrow is our day

I hope everyone faired well today. I did not have to be at the hospital until 10:45 and the surgery was delayed a bit. I did not get to my room until after 6pm. I did the 11 day pre-op diet and lost 13 lbs in that timeframe. As of the time of this posting (12:43 am) I have been up twice walking, pee'd twice (tmi i know) and just waiting for a big giant gas bubble. I do see the 'pain' that people talk about in their left shoulder. I have it myself but isnt too bad if I walk. ttyl

    overnight stay or not

for me staying at the hospital is working out great. I am here now and I have cable tv, someone waiting on me when I need something. I am getting to have my first Protein shake after the surgery earlier this afternoon. good luck to all.
  16. I also had the same issue before my surgery, which took place today. My surgeon told me that if I had a nasal infection that I could not have the surgery done and would have to put it off. Lucky for me it everything was ok and my congestion was slight.
  17. CHICKEN WINGS! I am DYING for them. I can taste them. I would give anything for the last 10 I will see in a while. however, i have less than 2 days till my banding GRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Tomorrow is our day

I have done exactly as the doctor has told me as well. He did not require me to just have liquids. I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, one for lunch and a protein dinner with green vegetables. I would normally have a piece of beef, chicken or pork with my veggies.

    Tomorrow is our day

Thanks Audrey, I am sort of looking forward to this and the change that it will make in my life. I know it will take time and I am willing to work at it because I feel like that I am starting on a new journey and not faced with the same failure of always being hungry.

    The Last Suppers.......

dont feel too bad I thought I could have a last meal closer than what actually happened. I am on 2 Protein shakes a day one protein meal for either lunch/dinner. I was thinking god I would give ANYTHING to have 10 wings the night before my surgery.
