Congrats to all of you! I am waiting on my surgery date. I have to wear my CPAP machine for 14 days straight before they will schedule me. I'm getting excited though, I only have 8 days left! Good luck guys!!

Let me tell you something...I have been open about me going for the lap band since I first went to the seminar last year. There are two ladies here that had gastic bypass and they didn't tell anyone until they started loosing weight. One of them told me that they regretted not letting anyone know ~ but the girls I work with are very supportive and nosey! They wanted to know what all I have had to do in order to prepare and to make sure that BCBS covered it. NOW ~ the two ladies I work with are working on their 6 month observation and they are going for lap band surgery too. It's like I started a trend~ But it comes down to a personal decision for you. If you feel comfortable, tell them - if you want to wait until you start loosing weight - then wait! It's all how you feel about it. Me personally, I don't mind sharing!

I'm really lucky. I haven't had any boob comments before. I do get the "you have such a pretty face" comment all the time. A lady I work with told me last week that she can't wait until I have my surgery she said that I am going to be a knock out since I am so pretty... in the face!

That's pretty bad. I'm sorry - but I would have had to say something to her. Just because you are a "big" girl doesn't mean that you have the same issues she might. What did you say to her?

That is awesome! I pray everything goes well for you. I'm on day 4 of my 14 days with the CPAP. So far so good, but does anyone have any advise on how I can keep the nose mask from bruising my face? I have it as loose as I can get it but I still hurt up by my eye.

I can understand where you are coming from. My dad all my life has told me that if I loose the weight he would buy me a new wardrobe. That has stuck with me since I was little. I keep on telling my mom that I just want to look "normal" but actually what is considered normal these days? I know I should be happy with the way I look but i'm not, so I am going to do something about it!

Aww - thank you so much for those kind words. I have been "chunky" all my life and I know what it's like to be teased. On top of being big I was a band geek and book geek too. That didn't help the situation any ~ but now ~ I see people I used to go school with and I make sure that they know what all I have accomplished. But I have figured out that corporate america is just like high school ~ and it stinks! I want my girls to be happy with their bodies and not turn out like me. I am so paranoid and just plain unhappy ~ but I am at a point now in my life that I have the money, the insurance, and the vacation time to have the lap band! I am 32 and I told my husband before I die I want to live my life to the fullest and loosing this weight will help me do it!

That is awesome! I will have to tell Hope that one too. She has a hard time in school some days ~ that will really brighen her up! Hey, I saw on your signature that your are finally under 300 lbs. I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am looking so forward to my surgery date (don't have one yet).

LMAO! That is a good one! My daughter is overweight and she told this little boy one time "Well, I can loose weight but you can't wash off ugly" ~ I like to have DIED!

I tell you what....I have heard that WAY too many times to count. What really has hurt me the most is my daughter calling me fat. She didn't mean to be ugly (I don't think) but she did. That was the turning point for me. I think I might have embarrassed her at some point.

Oh I bet Missy ~ Thinking that getting that stuff down is for a great cause really made the difference.

The juice really does make a difference in taste. I can't stand to drink that stuff...I always get sick to my stomach after taking it. YUCK!

I tell you all now.... I am jealous! I am however very proud of each one of you that have started your Lap Band journey's already. I am SO ready for mine to start ~ Just think, you have come a very long way and I think that people that are being ugly about it need to really think before they speak. We all have endured being teased at one point in our lives about being big, but we chose to do something about it. My middle daughter is over weight and when gets teased in school I tell her to let them know that at least she can loose weight!

You know, I think that is what is going on with me. Since he found the hernia, I have done some research and all of the symptoms I have after eating fit. Thank you guys! I hope that they can repair mine when I go for surgery.

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone out there had existing stomach issues before getting the lap band? I am kinda worried that what I experience now with my stomach might get worse after surgery. Also, can someone explain to me what a productive burp is? Thank you!!!

You know what, I think that if I was to loose weight that I would be happy. I have blamed me being unhappy on my weight all my life. I work with a lady who is over weight like I am but she lives life to the fullest. She doesn't let her size get in the way of her doing what she wants. Now only if I could do that ~ I think I would be happier.

That is wonderful news. I hope I don't have to jump through anymore hoops. I'm tired, I think I'm trained by now! I had the 6 month dr supervised visits done when I went to see Dr Miles for the first time, so all I had left was the normal stuff. I hope you and me both will get a surgery date soon, Dash.

hey, how did they give you a surgery date already? do you not have to go though all of the other stuff? Your making me jealous!!! I have been waiting on Naomi to give me a surgery date since BCBS approved me back in March. I get my CPAP today so I can get that 14 days over with. She said after the 14 days, I will get my date. I hate waiting.....

I'm with you on that one! Plain and simple - lazy. I can honestly say that I can not find any time in my schedule to exercise anymore. I am trying to raise 5 girls, work a full time job, and finish up my college degree ~ so with that being said ~ I am actually doing good to eat durning the day. I feel like that my parents freaked out when I was young and I started gaining weight, so that has some mental issues with me. I think that if I am skinny (ier) that I would be happy (ier). Does that make since? I used to like to cook but now I feel like it's a chore!

Hey DI! I was thinking about going with the Realize band myself. There really isn't a difference except a bigger port and the hooks right? Which one did the dr's recommend to you?

I did find out that I have a hernia (small one) but Dr. Bajaj said it was nothing to worry about. I didn't even think about it causing issues with me swallowing! That is great to know...then I can come off my reflux meds!
