Thank you guys! I just got back from lunch and I think part of it is infected. I am going to watch it tonight. I talked to Lisa at the dr's office and she said that she wouldn't mind looking at it if I needed her to. Thank you guys! I look forward to chatting on here everyday. That's my motivation!!

Hey guys ~ I have a question about something that is concerning me. Just a few minutes ago, I noticed that my port incision was leaking out from under the scab a little bit. Do you think I should worry?

You will do great! They really take good care of you ~ they have a great staff. The only thing I didn't like was having to drink 12 ozs of apple juice before I left the hospital. Needless to say it didn't settle too well. You know we will say extra prayers for you! I did notice that I was more sore than actually hurting. I am just now to the point where my port site isn't that bad sore anymore. I do not recommend bending over though. I found that out the hard way! Hi everyone! It's great to go back and read all of the posts over the weekend. I weighted yesterday and I was down another 5lbs, making my total 13 since the 27th. Thank you all for the snack updates, since I haven't had my first fill yet, it's hard to keep myself from being really hungry between meals. I have to admit, this was my first weekend since my surgery and I didn't stick to my protein requirements like I did during the week. I have also been eating the mini chocolate bars my kids got at Halloween. Geesh! I want to just kick myself in the hind end! OH I did something really bad though, I cleaned up my daughters room today and my port incision(?) started bleeding. I think I might have over done it too soon. I had to sit for awhile, but since I am at home I can't seem to sit still. I really wish I could start "beefing" up my excerise program, but Dr. Miles said 'no'. Oh well, my first fill is coming up on 12/9 ~~ so let's hope that will help curb my hunger! Glad to see everyone is doing so well! Just keep good thoughts 2ndChances...and stick with us! All of us will tell you like it is! :rolleyes2:

OH Shawna I wish we could meet up and walk! It would take me awhile to get there. We might can meet in the middle!! I have a question for you guys - I am running into a problem trying to find snacks. I have been eating light string cheese, but that can only take you so far. Any suggestions would be great! I'm so glad to see that you got a new job Shawna, what are you doing at UAB? You know what, come to mention it, I just received the claim report from BCBS today and it showed that all I owed was 175.00 (+/-) to the surgeon but I paid 300 up front. I hope I don't have to pay anything...I'm like you...it would be 30.00 bucks a pop!

Hey guys ~ I have a quick question. Does BCBS pay for the adjustments? Do we have to pay like a regular co-payment? I was just wondering...I have my first fill on Dec 9th and I can't wait! I am staying hungry and I don't wanna be!!! LOL

I hear that! I started the growling on Friday and I started to notice that I get hungry way to fast and to the point of if I don't get something to eat soon I am going to be sick. So, I guess I really can't tell the difference between true hunger or grumbling!

OH my JL, that's not good! I know what you mean though about being dizzy. I have had some spells here lately. Laughter is always the best medicine! I'm with you on the "sexy" part. I have a great husband and he has really been behind me with this. It helps out when you have a support system at home.

I feel like im in the same boat here. I was banded on 10/27 and have only lost 7 lbs, but I told my dr. on Monday that I was starving. I have started eating high protein foods like fish and small amounts of chicken. I am just staying hungry, but I am eating small amounts of everything. Any suggestions? I go for my first fill 12/9

Congrats thicknthin! I too was banded on Oct 27th, but I went to St. Vincent's East. I have been SO hungry lately though. How are things going with you so far?

I was banded on Oct. 27th, and yesterday was my first day back to work. I am having muscle cramps around my port area. I wonder why? I haven't been cleared to exercise yet, but I have been walking. Maybe it goes away with time.

I was like Jason, I had to submit the 3 year print out along with the 6 month diet supervision. It all depends on what coverage BCBS offers you (your plan) as to what they want. It's a process...that's for sure! Good Luck!! :biggrin:

I tell you what Jason, Friday was my best day so far. I know I have had to have walked at least 3 miles. We took our girls to the churches Fall Festival and we have a HUGE parking lot, so we walked that whole thing about 4 times! Needless to say, I was VERY sore! I weighted myself this morning on my scales and if they are correct, I'm down 15 lbs. already. I started at 247 and as of today i'm 232. We will see tomorrow though, that is when I get my staples out and boy am I ready! I feel really good this morning, so I am going to try and help the hubby with some housework. Oh don't worry, I have been taking the pain meds, but only when I think I really have needed them. I will talk to you guys here in a bit! Hugs! April

Hi everyone! Today is the first day that I have felt like really doing anything. I have to tell you guys that Monday night was pretty bad. I stayed so sick to my stomach all night and LIVED off of the nausea medicine. But that was the only time I was sick. I have been able to eat mashed potatoes, protein shakes (lots of them) and today I tried a scrambled egg white. Oh yum! Overall I have done pretty well. I go Monday to have my staples removed, and I am not sore much either! Thank you all for your prayers and I will keep you updated!

I'm starting to get nervous you guys! Say a HUGE prayer for those of us going in today! Will post later on.... April

Hey there! I think the main difference is exactly what you said, you have insurance through UAB Hospital and not BCBS. I had to jump through BCBS hoops in order to get it approved. You have to "prove" to them that you need the surgery and you are truly over weight. I have heard good things about Dr. Pennington ~ A lady I work with is using him and she absolutely loves him to death. I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Good Morning My Friends!~~ It's about 5:30 am and I am getting ready to go to the nut. class. I am scheduled to be at the hospital all day long...class, preop testing and then the visit with Dr. Miles. Wish me luck! I will be checking in later on this evening!!

You know, I was wondering the exact same thing. My girls are 16, 11, 9, 6, & 4. I have NEVER been any smaller than an 18 and I am praying and wishing that I get down there again. My 11 yr old said that she is afraid that I won't look the same or be the same "mom". I told her that no matter how much weight I loose, my disposition (sp?) will not change. I love them all the same and once I loose some weight, I will be able to take them to more places and do more things with them. I think your babies will react just fine to the change. They will see how good you are feeling and more than likely the confidence change too. Good luck! April

Oh wow Keri...that is horrible! I don't see why they would have charged that much for the exact same surgery. I am having to pay 300 tomorrow as my co-pay, so that makes me wonder how much more I will have to pay out in the end. Keep us posted.

I forgot to ask you...which flavor do you like the best? I found it on Ebay at a good price. I was going to invest in some before my surgery.:tongue2:
