What kind of protein dink is everyone drinking?
Northernsun replied to willybe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I realized I needed the protein, I went to GNC and was going to try the iso pure whey powder but I didn't want to buy such a big jug with out tasting it first. Saw the isopure H2O and bought a few bottles of that. Ricanlady- thanks for the hints- they do taste a little "funny" and I would not have thought to make popsyckles out of it! -
Cute puppy! Dogs are the best incentive to get out and walk! No matter how tired I am when I get home from work there he is, all love and affection, waiting for me to love him up and take him for a walk. Jake's an American Bulldog - 85 lbs of solid muscle from tip of tail to tip of nose and stroll was never programmed in to him. We power walk and he pulls some if not going fast enough so i get to work the legs and the arms! If we don't go for some reason ( 30 below zero with a wind chill and snow will keep me at home!) he pouts and drives us nuts with his ball all night. :biggrin1:

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Northernsun replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
 I had my first fill the 15th and from the first time I saw the surgeon (mid Jan), till then I am down exactly 30 lbs ( 337 to 307.) I am 5'6 with the starting BMi about 54. This morning I am at 299.5! I made my first mini goal! From here on out tho- i expect it will be slower. It amazes me just how good i have been feeling and there is already a difference in the amount of pain in my knees. Will admit that the amount of excersise this week has been way up- 2 snow storms in one week for a total of about 18 inches that has to be cleared from walks and driveway definately helps! I have no idea how much I will be able to loose- just want to keep going till I am happy with how i look and feel! Think 150 is possible??? Will settle for 175. I am definately in it for the long haul!:clap2: -
I always took GNC vitamins so when I needed a chewable or liquid I tried there first. STAY AWAY FROM THE LIQUID!!!!!! It is SO SO nasty!!! :help: The smell is enough to gag you. The chewables are lemon lime and don't taste too bad. The chewable calcium are cherry and pretty good tasting. They told me they are coming out with a powder in the woman's formula that you mix with a liquid. Might try that next time.

I work in a pretty high pressure position and having just been through the holiday season was pretty burned out. Told my friends it was a shame I needed to have surgery just to get some time off! I could have gone back to work in a couple days but I had 3 weeks of sick time saved up so I took all 3 weeks and it was wonderful! Two weeks to heal and 1 for me! Putzed around the house, took naps, read, went shopping and just generally rested and tried to understand what I had done and what my new eating habits were going to be. I went back to work feeling better then I had for a long time. I know it is not possible for everyone. At the info meeting, my dr told us 2 weeks was common but we were starting a whole new life so if we had the extra week- take it. Good advice I thought.

You and i are about on the same schedule- I was banded 2-7 and my first fill is also the 15th. I was doing really good sticking to the small amount of food required but this last week has been hard and the amounts are creeping up there. I am hungry between meals and I don't want to go back to grazing. My motivation to do this was my knees are really bad and I figured I needed at least 50 gone before they started to get better and I could go back to doing the things I love to do. Like walking and gardening.......

Hello, This is my first post so I am learning. In July I had blood clots in my legs that moved to my lungs and spent a few days in the hospital. The first thing my Dr said to me was Smoke and die, and Blood thinners for life! That being enough of a 2x4 upside the head, I quit smoking and started on my way to a 20 lb weight gain. Also i was unable to take ibuprofen anymore for my bad knees so I started excersising and walking less and less as they got worse and worse. This also led to a weight gain. I had previously lost 65 lbs on Adkins but had been stalled for a long while. I gained almost all this back in 4 months. Talking to my Dr about what to do with my knees, she suggested the surgery. I didnot realize my insurance co paid for this till then ( 90-10 coverage). My husband and i went to the informational meeting and I decided to have the lab band- less intrusive with my history. I think the hardest thing was calling a shrink! Anyway, surgery was Feb 7 2006 and my first fill is next wed. I was 337 before the 2 weeks preop of liquids. 325 at surgery and 305 now. I have been surfing this site for a few days and have learned a lot. Thanks!:clap2:

We all "know" the way to a man's heart is through his stomach so will he still love me if I don't cook the way I used to ??? When he stopped laughing at me for even worrying, we talked about risks etc and his fears of something going wrong during surgery. He is so supportive and wants me to be able to do the things I used to b4 bad knees. My biggest worry was he would finish my meals and create his own problem!

Insurance Trouble--thinking of Selfpay
Northernsun replied to yella1021's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the hardest time calling the shrink- the nutritionist was a good investment. Funny- it was a requirement for the surgery but the insurance co didn't cover it.
