  1. Hi all! I’m 18 months post op from my VSG and I’m still 24 pounds out from my goal weight. My highest weight was 313 and surgery day I was 289. I’m currently 204. I was able to get down to 197 a few months ago but I have gained some back. I’m battling constant hunger. I have been strength training a lot the past 6 months, which at first I attributed to my increase in hunger, but the past 2 months it’s gotten out of control. I eat anywhere between 100-130 grams of protein a day. Drink 120 ounces of water a day. Take my vitamins. I just can’t shake this hunger, which in turn makes me have bad food choices, usually later at night. Has anyone else struggled with this at this point in their journey? And what advice do you have? I’m terrified of weight gain and desperately want to reach my goal!

    Can’t Get to My Goal Weight

    My surgeon did mention that I may be at my set weight point. I was 220 my freshman year in high school and was extremely active in sports and ate very well. So my surgeon said I should be very proud and happy with where I am. So I’m trying to remain positive as much as I can I’m just discouraged a little bit. I’m trying my best to stay on track. I work out everyday and have a very active job so that’s not an issue for me. It’s all about the hunger and not making the best choices sometimes. Thank you all for your input!
  3. Hi! I am almost a week post op VSG and have extreme nausea! I can’t even stomach water or my Powerade zero. I have been forcing myself to drink my 2 Fairlife shakes to get my 60 grams of protein in but that’s all the intake I can tolerate. I might be able to get 20-30 ounces of other fluid down during the day. I sip slowly like I’m supposed to, sit up when I’m drinking and I’m even taking Zofran once to twice a day but it gives me a terrible headache. Did anyone else have this issue and any advice? And please tell me it goes away soon!
  4. What were some of the first solid foods you tried that went down well? I’m 2 weeks post op and beginning at 4 weeks I’ll start solids. I’m just trying to get some ideas! Thanks!
  5. I’m most excited about chicken, especially hibachi chicken, I’m planning on just ordering the chicken and double veggies instead of rice. The place I go to has very moist chicken so hopefully it will go down well. I’m also excited about chili, shrimp, spinach and squash. Pre-op I could eat my weight in grilled shrimp, creamed spinach and sautéed squash lol I’m definitely taking notes on ideas people are giving me!
