  3. hi all, I was banded on 6/19 and have been dealing with a significant amount of gas. Today was the first day I was feeling relief HOWEVER....out of the blue I have this intense stabbing pain in my left shoulder tip. Is this the last of the gas trying to get out??? OMG this is worse then all the gas pains combined

    shoulder tip pain...OMG

thank you so much for your quick replies...that was pretty scary for sure. I was in tears for a minute there...I took my pain meds (liquid Lortab) which I haven't had to do in 2 days and got my heating pad out. Whew...it has backed off. Going back to work tomorrow and for certain liquid tylenol and my heating pad are going to be in my tote bag Thanks again all...everyone has been so great on here :smile2:

Just wanted to share my stupidity!

I was just banded on 6/19 and I am due to go on my very first cruise in October. It's a 5 days cruise. I am going to have the anti-sickness patch in case but do you have any other suggestions as far as eating.
  6. I had surgery 1st thing in the morning on 6/19. I am hoping to go back to work tomorrow. I slept slept slept Fri, Sat, & Sun setting an alarm to wake me up to walk because of the gas pains. I had no desire what so ever to drink anything until yesterday (monday) when I finally was able to have broth, popsicles, and water. This morning I took my 4 yr old to summer camp for the first time and made short stop at the food store...that took a lot out of me came home and napped for 2 hrs. I really think it depends on your job. I have an desk job that requires me to talk on the phone a lot. I think that is going to be the hardest part of all because I still have a lot of gas and it hurts for me to talk because the gas is in my shoulders, neck, and chest. I had hopes like you to go back to work this past Monday but there was just no way. The best advice I could give is prepare for the worst but hope for the best.
  7. i was banded with a hernia repair friday 6/19 at 7:30 am. I still have a significant amount chest and shoulder pain. I am concerned because the chest and neck pains are worst when i try to drink liquids. after drinking small amounts of liquids about 1/2 an hour later my mouth will begin to water and i have excessive saliva in my mouth that i have to spit out. i am so sick to my stomach that i have no desire to drink anything, i was prescribed something for nausea however i feel like if i take it i will vomit. anyone have any suggestions? i am beginning to doubt my decision to have the surgery
  8. I am pretty much in the same boat as you and my post op was on 6/19 as well. Just wondering what your MD said?
  9. I was banded on June 19th but I had to do a strict low carb high protein diet for my ins co for 6 months pre-op. Fajitas is a great treat w/out the tortilla shells and if you find a good mex restaurant go crazy with the cheese queso and sour cream...really tastes the same with or w/out the tortilla shells. Also I found a nice treat was to make Steak-ums with onions, peppers, and cheeze wiz - low carb - high protein - and again tasted the same w/out the bread. I also found a great cookbook called Hungry Girl which has receipes under 200 calories and she gives all the facts of serving sizes with nutritional info. Has some great smoothie receipes and great dips for your crackes and such. Hope this helps...I myself can't WAIT to get to the soft food stage
  10. so glad you posted this thread. I was banded on the 19th. Today is the first day I have felt like having anything at all. I took broth from progresso veggie soup and at that warm which helped. I imagine I am going to feel the same as you in a couple more days...HUNGRY lol. Now if I could just get rid of this gas pains...I have been walking, taking my gas-x strips, using the heating pad, and putting my arms over my head...any other suggestions? My hubby mad frozen pizza for dinner last night...never thought I would be jealous of the smell lol

    In dire need of reassurance

I was just banded yesterday 6/19 at 7:30 am and I am so glad you posted this. I was beginning to get worried about the gas pains...will they ever go away when you are not releasing gas on either end? *sorry for the too much info* I am scared to drink anything other then my liquid pain med lortab and small sips of water, for fear of getting sick. I tried a sugar free popsicle yesterday evening and it immediatley made me sick to my stomach. I did sleep in my bed last night using 4 pillows to keep me upright *which really helped* also the heating pad does help with the shoulder pain from the hernia repair I had as well. If only I could get rid of the gas pain I think I would feel so much better.

    Jacksonville, Florida

I have my first consult with the Jacksonville Weightloss Center on 7/31/08. I have check with my Ins. Co. Aetna & after getting precertified including a 6 month monitored weight loss program, my plan will cover 80%. Anybody have similar ins.??? If so can you tell me approx what you had to pay out of pocket & what that covered? Did you have to pay the out of pocket up front before even starting the 6 moth monitored weight loss program?? Thanks for any help!:biggrin2:
