    Any Long Islanders?

Hi LCube- I do feel well, thank you! There is hardly any residual pain. I don't know if you saw my other posts, but the only problem I had with the whole thing was a little nausea directly after surgery and some gas trapped under my ribcage and shoulders. Honestly, that was the most uncomfortable thing. I walked a lot, even one half hour after surgery! That finally got rid of the painful gas. (But, not everyone gets the gas pain.) The two other women who had surgery the same day as me did NOT have that pain. So you see, you will be in great hands! Good luck!
  2. Welcome Marienola, I was just banded this tuesday september 2 (5 days ago) and I feel pretty good! I did the liquid diet a week before surgery with the last day on only Clear liquids. Since the operation, which took approximately 2 hours, I have to be on liquids again for 2 more weeks. I am looking forward to my first non-liquid meal, but alas it is a week away! I have lost 17 pounds just prepping for surgery and the 5 days since. I came through the operation just fine with only a nauseous feeling directly after surgery. There really is not that much physical pain. I also had some "gas" pain trapped by my ribcage and my shoulders which was the most painful part of the process. However, not everyone gets the gas trapped in their body. I did a lot of walking after the surgery and after a day or two, all the gas finally left my body. Good luck to you!

    Any Long Islanders?

Hi, I was just banded September 2 by Dr. Powers, who is Dr. Geiss' associate. After all of your initial testing is complete, they review your file and then you get a surgery date. Make sure you call the office to make sure your file is complete. They schedule the date, then submit to your insurance company. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. So far, so good with me (even though it has only been 5 days.) Good luck!
  4. Hi, it has taken me (so far) since November 2007....which included initial consultation with surgeon, a slew of testing (stress tests, endoscopy, upper GI, psych etc.) supervised diet of 6 months, diet history and finally letter of surgical necessity. I finally have my date of Sept. 2 (only because I have to be out of the country in Aug. and the docs do not want you out of the country for atleast 6 weeks after the surgery. My insurance (cigna) required the 6 months supervised physician diet, or else the process would have gone easier. Hope this helps you.
