Wow, you are all losing so good. I guess I am going to be a slow loser. But as long as it goes down and not up, I'm happy. Congratulations to you all on your great loses. Maggie:shades_smile:

3 weeks post op and stomach still sore
Maggies replied to bonnielass's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 29th. of October and I feel great. I haven't had any pain for about a week and a half. Maybe it is because you were so bruised. I would call my doctor and ask him/her for advice. Hope you feel better soon. Maggie:shades_smile: -
New here from Redding CA
Maggies replied to photofire's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Photofire, I am from Redding also, but didn't go thru their program. As you can see I was just banded a little over two weeks ago. Are you going to Shasta Reg. meeting this coming Thursday? Maggies:shades_smile: -
Wow girl, I would love to be 178. I have a long way to go to get there. I seem to be losing terribly slow, but as long as it is going down, thats OK with me. I seem to have restriction because I get full on just a little amount of food. Well, have a good one. Maggie:shades_smile:

Welcome Ashley, I agree 100% with JWRN. If I were you I would get a sleep study done. Without it I would not have been approved. I had no idea I had sleep apnea. I knew I would wake up every hour or two all nite long, but didn't know it was because I was stopping breathing. And also make sure you are at least 101lbs. overweight. Like JWRN said I believe it is getting harder to get approved for lapband or gastric bypass with Tricare, but if you fit into their criteria they can't deny you. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Hi JWRN, Hows things going with you? I am so looking forward to getting back to regular foods. I started mushies today and had some white Beans which I added a little bit of tomato juice to. They were great.... Have a good weekend Maggies:shades_smile:

Tricare Providers in Tampa Florida
Maggies replied to happymommxy4's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I think you should keep trying and see how it goes. Everything could be different there. I am in California and it was a job getting it done. But I would do it again. Good luck and keep trying, Maggies:shades_smile: -
Tricare Providers in Tampa Florida
Maggies replied to happymommxy4's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Have you went thru all the tests that are required for the surgery. EKG, Chest xray, blood work, etc. After you get all the requied tests done, the surgeon you choose will submit it to Tricare. There is a lot of hoops to jump thru beore you actually are banded, but well worth it. Once your pcm submits to Tricare for the approval to see a surgeon and it is approved they should suggest a surgeon that takes Tricare patients. From there make your appt. with him/her and the surgeon will tell you all the texts you need to have done. You will have a lot to do, but it is worth it. Maggies:shades_smile: -

Tricare Providers in Tampa Florida
Maggies replied to happymommxy4's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Sarah, I'm not from the Tampa area, but I do have Tricare. I was denied the first time because you have to have at least 1 health issue. I was denied because my sleep study was not included in the package sent to Tricare showing I have sleep apnea. It was included the second time when we appealed it and I was approved. You also need to be at least 100lbs. overweight. Good luck and hope you get approved soon. Maggies:shades_smile: -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks for all the great tips on avoiding all the goodies during the holidays. OK, I screwed up this morning and drank a whole protein drink while driving to pick up my grandson (15 minutes). By the time I got home I was so sick. I had diarrea and I threw up. I was banded on Oct. 29th and am still on full liquids. I have not had any problems until today. In fact I was wondering if they really put a band in me because I felt so good. I have a 14cc band with 3cc saline put in at time of surgery. Every time I have a bowle movement it is diarrea, so the doctor is having a lab test done. Do you all think I messed up my band with throwing up. It wasn't that much, just some of the protein drink. I will never drink anything that fast again. I haven't been hungry since my banding, just trying to get in the protein. Thanks, Maggie:shades_smile: -
JWRN, you are doing great, wow, 52lbs. already Congratulations. I only lost 2bls. this week, and I have only ate/drank exactly what I'm suppossed to. I hope I'm not going to be a slow loser. But at least it went down, and not up or the same. Keep up the great work. Maggie:shades_smile:
-
JWRN, How did the regular diet go? I don't seem to get hungry, but I can drink as much water as I want with no problems. Could all of you? So it makes me question if it is going to be the same way with food. I hope not. Maggie:shades_smile:

Hi, Congratulations on the great weight loss Tomatogirl. I will weigh myself again on Tuesday to see where I am. I'm sure I'm no where close to 17lbs. I wish!!!! I found out I have a 14 cc band, with 3cc put in at time of surgery. JWRN, When are you starting meats and such? At your stage I should already be on them if I can tolerate them. It is a great feeling to know that when I get on the scale there will be a loss and not a gain.. I still have a love/hate relationship with the scale. Keep up the good losing. Maggies:shades_smile:

Wvagirl, Wow, what an experience. Are you sure you have the band in you after all that??? I think I would have a few choice words for the surgeon when I saw him... I'm going to try to join the yahoo group. I have never been on one so wish me luck. Maggies:shades_smile:

The problem is my surgeons office do not do fills. They refer you to the hospital where the surgery was done. I wonder if that would be covered. I might call Tricare after my post op appt. tomorrow. I am not coming home until Saturday or Sunday. Going to visit with my son and grandson. Maggies:shades_smile:
-
Hi Tomatogirl, The weather is also a lot better in FL, rather than MD. Do we have to get an authorization for fills from Tricare? I'm still not feeling hungry, and hope it stays that way. How about the rest of you? Maggies:shades_smile:

lap band on Friday - VERY nervous !
Maggies replied to kspapst's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yep, me again, as for your question on walking in the hospital. The nurces will help you get up and walk around. Also, I used one of there walkers the first time I went by myself. Trust me they have seen it all, and are so helpful. I had two nurces, one morning, one afternoon, that were the best I have ever had. I can't say enough good stuff about them. So sit back and enjoy being taken care of. Maggies:shades_smile: -
lap band on Friday - VERY nervous !
Maggies replied to kspapst's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Kspapt, Congratulations on your surgery date Friday. As you can see we are close in age, and I just had my lapband surgery on the 29th. of Oct. Everything went great. You will have pain after the surgery, but each day you will feel a little better. Just make sure you sip your water and walk. Walking helps get the gas out of you. I have very little pain now, just where the port is and it is very minor. You will do great. Maggies:shades_smile: -
Wvgirl, How are you doing by now. You haven't been on so just wondering how bandlife is going for you. Maggies:shades_smile:
-
Hows everybody doing. Still losing those pounds that have been keeping us from having the life we want????Post of appt. tomorrow. I'm going to find out how much fill was put in at time of placement. I was happy to hear that they did that. I still don't feel hungry at all, so that is a great thing. Maggies:shades_smile:

The Girl Next Door has been banded..
Maggies replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded on the 29th, so not far ahead of you. I have not had an appetite yet. At first I didn't have much energy, but since I have been getting in my protein an water I have it back. And like you I had diarrea, which started the day after surgery. I called my surgeon and he put in a prescription to take care of it. So everything you are going thrue is normal. Today is one week since my surgery and I have very little pain, just in the port area. Maggies:shades_smile: -
acadiamom, Thanks, I thought I would never get to this point. I worked on getting this done for 1 year. And now I am a week into it. YAY The 19th. will be here before you know it, and then you will be on the banded side. Maggies:shades_smile:

Munger, I am also 5'6 and I weight 258 when mine paperwork was first submitted. I was denied, until my surgeon discovered that my tests showing that I have sleep apnea was not sent to Tricare. So the surgeons office resubmitted it and I was approved two weeks later. What did your denial say was the reason for being denied??? Keep trying and you will be approved. Maggies:shades_smile:
-
Sabrina, I had to do the sleep apnea test and its a good thing I did, because that is what got me approved. I didn't even know I had it, I knew I would wake up several times at nite, but didn't know why. It doesn't determine if you will get approved or not, but if you have it and are over 100lbs overweight you should be approved. And if you don't have it, you could still be approved if you have one of the other health problems listed by Tricare. Good luck on your approval. Maggies:shades_smile:
