    Curves?

I was banded 9/24/2008 My weight before the liver shrinking diet was 284. The day of surgery was 271. I'm 5' 6" I live in VA where I too have the daylight Saving Time as someone else mentioned. After power walking all that summer I needed a place to go inside to work out. I joined Curves in October 2008 and started with the 30 min circut. I too felt I wasn't getting enough of a workout. So I decided to do and hour workout (lunch hour) and a 10 min stretch/cool down, and I did this 5 days a week and on my days I had off or the weekend I would do my video workouts or walk outside. Now a year later I have lost 102 lbs. I just joined a "real gym" and am doing 5 days of cardio and 3-4 of those days I do weights If time allows. The trick to Curves is to do your own thing! Make yourself run in place, do kicks, and move your arms while walking at the fastest pace you can! Its only 30 seconds... do as many reps as you can and switch it up, pass people if they are not moving off the equipt. fast enough... They won't mind. Remember your there for a workout not a social event.. My Curves has great ladies, BUT they like to be social and I found that not to be so motovating! Great people but I was there to lose weight and get healthy!!! I too have this sagging skin issue. I realize now this will be another surgery when I am complete in this quest I have set out to acomplish. Main thing is get yourself healthy, get your weight down so you can do more... then when you have reached that point maybe look into joining a "real gym" and start on some light weights... LOTION is also another key for good skin and lots of water. If you get bored with water get some flavor packets from Wal-Mart (Lemonade) or Crystal light and this will also help with your sweet tooth, and its surgar free... Lots of luck. I hardly ever post on this site, BUT I had to put in my 2 cents in on the success of Curves! It's all in what you put in it! Was in AZ last year ... I must say you live in a BEAUTIFUL part of this country!
  2. I stumbled on this site while in the midst of setting up my siminar appointment a few weeks ago. I have been reading and don't usually join sites :seeya: I was impressed by the support. I have had my consultation and dietician, and therapy appointment. Just waiting for them to return their reports and submit to insurance. I have made a lot of changes in the past month since I have decided to do this, and am commited. I hope to read more and get some good info on this site. I live in Richmond, VA and CAN'T WAIT to get started!!! :biggrin2:
  3. I have been going to Curves, I like it alot. Any feedback ? I'm wondering will I want to switch up in October (renewl) and join a "real" gym?? What do you do after your goal is reached for fitness to "maintain" I really love working out now and I actually enjoy running even a some weight training.
  4. Leaving on a cruise to Bermuda in a couple weeks, Never been in a cruise. All I hear is about the eating! I have lost 81 lbs since my surgery in September 2008. I work out 6 days a week and look forward to continuing this on my vacation. Also the dancing will be a big help since i LOVE to dance! Any suggestions for what kind of foods to eat?
  5. Thanks for your suggestions... I'm traveling "Freestyle Dining" on NCL. So I'm hoping I will be so distracted I won't think of food all the time. I do very well with temptation, but I didn't think of the food being a little bit over/ under cooked, something to watch out for! Thanks!
  6. P.S. I should clear it up... sorry. I live in VA now...Don't want to mislead you on where it would ship from.

    Needed: Size 20-24 swimsuit(s)

1000 Words, I have a beautiful BRAND NEW swim suit I purchased from Lands End its a one piece with a lower front panel to hit about 3 inches below the front, color: dark grape slenderizer/ minamizer/ built in bra. I wore it ONE time on vacation (which is what I bought it for) When I came home from my travels (AZ) I got the lapband and have been kicking myself for not ordering a smaller size. It's a 20/22 I believe. now I don't have a swim suit! BUT I'm not complaining I'm doen 40 lbs today! Let me know if your interested...
  9. DeeDeeK1- Yes! As amatter of fact my surgery date with Dr. David Elliot is in late September. So far so good, I've been impressed with the care and service I have received. I have only been on this site myself for about 3 weeks and have met some nice people. Hope you are having the same experience as I am.... I can't wait! I am looking forward to this change in my life, and getting through the rough couple of weeks.. Congradulations!!!!

Nancy B. I am still waiting to hear back from the doctors office for an approval. I have BC/BS of IL. I hear they are horrible to deal with. I hope things are still going well for you. Have you adjusted ok? Any problems with certain foods? I love to hear how this is going, especially with the locals and these doctors. I have been very pleased with them so far. Seem to really be willing to help in any way. Take Care-

Is in with the same group as yours.. Dr. David Elliot. I have elected to have the surgery done at HDH Parham Campus. From what I understand they are able to spend more time with you there, then St. Mary's. Since I live in far west Chesterfield Co. and work downtown travel seems inevitable . I have to wait for the paperwook (mental health, and dietician) to be returned to his office and as of last friday this wasn't done... Seems like this process takes a lot longer then I thought. I'm the kind of person that does not makes decisions quick, but once there made.. I'm READY! I know I won't go back on this decision. I just am anxious to feel better and enjoy time with my family! But looks like I may have a while. I have BC/BS of IL and I hear they are atrocious! If you don't want to answer.. I totally understand... Whats your BMI? I'm 5' 6" and im at 43. with 2 co-morbidities. Have a Great Monday! -C
  13. Hey! I was reading through all these different comments. I too have BC/BS of IL. The lady at my doctors office (Lapband doc) said she has never delt with BC/BS of IL. I have done the siminar, and the dietician, and therapy evaluation (they both say IM READY), and a letter from my PCP stating he reccomends this for me and states I have tried multi diets over the past 5 years (under his care) I have Hypothyroidism and have for 12 years, and its under control with meds. I have 2 co-morbidities,and my BMI is 43. What hoops did you have to go through and how soon did you get approved? Hope to hear back... Thanks! GOOD LUCK!!!
