sounds normal to me! I had terrible, debilitating pain prior to a back surgery and had the same reaction right after the surgery! Of course, the end result is that I only rarely have back pain now and probably not more than an "average" person who screws up and overdoes occasionally...but still! I can't imagine we won't ALL say that post-op. The thing is: short term pain for long term gain. Cliche but the truth. We all want to live longer and have a higher quality of life!!!! Question for those who have been on the pre-op diet: is it okay to use SF creamer in coffee and what about COOKED veggies? My pre-op diet info says raw vegetables. Thanks! ~~anne

It was a nice visit but I already miss him! I'm having a "last" dinner at our favorite restaurant...an amazing burger and fries. No more after tonight! I had my "last" drinking splurge last night with a close friend. We had a bonfire and set around drinking our favorite adult beverage until about 2 am! It was fun...but I hope I can still be "fun" post-banded.

Hi! Welcome to all the new folks who are stopping by! I have a funny story (well, to me it is!). We have a 100+ lb yellow lab puppy who got in my bedroom today and got into my Unjury sample packets and decided he liked the Strawberry Sorbet flavor--I ended up with a PINK puppy! He even had pink drool hanging out his mouth! :crying: Good thing he liked it as I thought it was pretty nasty (the smell anyway!). I had my pre-op appointment today and it was LONG as I had worked during the night and went straight to the appointment. One lady asked SO many questions that, IMO, she should have known the answers to at this point with only a week left until surgery. I was tired and irritable I guess! :cry_smile: The barium swallow was disgusting. I hope to NEVER have to do that again! The exercise folks were very thorough--apparently, we get through the end of the year up to four days a week in the cardiac rehab gym with a trainer and sports physiologist. They will adjust our exercise routine to individually meet our needs as far as our physical issues. They did do our measurements and body fat analysis and will continue to follow those as time goes on. They also did "before" pictures. I'm excited! I had some "bad" news today. My future first grandchild is likely to be born premature as my DIL has a bicornuate uterus. So many ups and downs right now! My oldest son is in town for the weekend from the Army and it's so great to see him!

My two sons are in the Army (Ft. Stewart and Ft. Lewis). The older one came back from Kuwait in May and it was such a HUGE relief to me! The #2 son is married and expecting a baby in April. He has had some colon issues and may end up with major surgery...or nothing. He will deploy next August they say. ~~anne

Well, tomorrow is another step in the process and something else I can check off :thumbup:. I guess they do bloodwork, x-rays, EKG, barium swallow, and have everyone meet with an exercise physiologist and a dietician. Busy day! Can't wait! Also, my oldest Army son is coming for a visit tomorrow at 3 pm for the weekend (Columbus Day). I just got back from a quick trip to Florida with my husband (business for him) and saw SO many soldiers in the airport in Atlanta and on the planes. I sat next to one heading to Atlanta from Orlando and felt God was telling me to give him some money for a meal on me. I tried to resist but couldn't! (I tend to be shy) When we were getting off, I passed him some money and told him what it was for and he tried to refuse...I looked him in the eye (mine were tear-filled the entire trip!) and told him how much I missed my boys and would he please have a meal on me and he thanked me :smile:. It helped ME so much to do that! Still no word on the change in my job...that's a tad stressful needless to say :cry_smile:. Oh, one good thing, during my trip I walked more than usual and my "bad" knee held up better than usual! Can't wait for tomorrow!

Hi Sandielaw--we share a surgery date! I am heading to my pre-op appointment this morning and I guess I'll get my diet info then. I just consumed a Protein drink as I'm NPO after midnight and thought it might be good to see how long that would last me as I'm working tonight! Hi--I like to check out "new posts" and saw one from the twenties group for "skinny goals" and it made me think. Here is my partial list: 1. FEEL better (back, joints). 2. Comfortably ride in an airplane seat (I love to travel). 3. Better sex :rolleyes2:. 4. Shop in "normal" stores and get great clearance deals! 5. Be able to walk my dog without being winded. Well, I believe I had my last "fat" airplane ride...and the last leg was SO embarrassing! It was a small puddle jumper and the seats were small and so were the seat belts. In a regular Delta plane, I can barely fit in the seat belts...in this plane, I had to suck in my breath. What made it worse was the lady sitting across the aisle AND the flight attendant both watched intently as I struggled and finally got it on. Sigh. NEVER again!!!!! Dh and I were treated to free Disney tickets at his conference and we went on a quick trip to Animal Kingdom as we had not been there. We did have fun...but without a doubt, if we were both smaller, we would have done OH so much more. We were very limited in what we could do. NEVER again!!!!! :biggrin:

My pre-op is tomorrow and I feel the same way! We can do it!

Well, tomorrow is another step in the process and something else I can check off . I guess they do bloodwork, x-rays, EKG, barium swallow, and have everyone meet with an exercise physiologist and a dietician. Busy day! Can't wait! Also, my oldest Army son is coming for a visit tomorrow at 3 pm for the weekend (Columbus Day). :thumbup: I just got back from a quick trip to Florida with my husband (business for him) and saw SO many soldiers in the airport in Atlanta and on the planes. I sat next to one heading to Atlanta from Orlando and felt God was telling me to give him some money for a meal on me. I tried to resist but couldn't! (I tend to be shy) When we were getting off, I passed him some money and told him what it was for and he tried to refuse...I looked him in the eye (mine were tear-filled the entire trip!) and told him how much I missed my boys and would he please have a meal on me and he thanked me . It helped ME so much to do that! Still no word on the change in my job...that's a tad stressful needless to say . Oh, one good thing, during my trip I walked more than usual and my "bad" knee held up better than usual! Can't wait for tomorrow!

I'm having my pre-op tomorrow and I'm excited! Just one more thing to check off the list! Penny--when I had a c-section and had a 15 month old, I just had him climb up on me and helped him a little. I also did the same with the crib and just "boosted" him. Not the ideal situation but still. Do you have any neighbors who could help out with crib times? Thank you for your service to our country as an Army wife! Your dh is going to be so proud of you!!!! (thanks to him too of course!) LoveIsLively--Hope everything works out okay! I had "extra" bleeding with my hysterectomy and had to stay an extra day. I had been on massive amounts of advil prior to the surgery for back pain and that caused it. I would bet 254...could be a typo or just one of those things like when we talk about gas prices now and say $2.99 instead of $3.99 because we aren't used to talking about gas prices being so high! I was just thinking the other day that I don't FEEL 264 on the inside...I still feel like the active, athletic person I once was and am frustrated when my body won't cooperate!
