Yay! Today I am only severely obese instead of morbidly obese! :tt2: I finally lost my "surgery" weight (aka GAS) and feel so much better. Basically, I spent last evening sipping hot tea while reading or watching tv (I did walk too) in my bedroom and told dh to STAY OUT! Fortunately, it was nice enough outside to have the windows open and I lit some candles! :wink_smile: Such is life for us all I guess. My gas was so bad that my stomach was FIRM from the bloating and even the incisions were pulling and bleeding a bit. EEK. It was bad. On to happier days now...:confused:

Today I had a one pound weight gain. Fortunately, I knew that I would have a gain right after surgery because of the fluids they pump in you and the swelling at the surgery site. I felt pretty miserable last night and took a narcotic tablet that we had leftover from some back pain awhile back. My doctor doesn't prescribe narcotics...just an NSAID and I'm already on some of those (Voltarin) for my rheumatoid arthritis. This morning, I took 1/2 tablet and feel a little better. I'm wondering how much weight I will have to lose to go down a size? I just bought (online) a shirt to wear for Thanksgiving that is in my current size (but tight right now). I hope it literally hangs on me! We'll see...

The blood is normal. You just don't want to have BLEEDING where you would have to reinforce the bandage. If so, call your doctor. Thanks for checking in--sounds like you are doing great! ~~anne

My incision ended up being about 2 inches below the underwire bra line. Maybe it depends how long your torso is? I am fairly "tall" at 5-7. My surgeon's office couldn't tell me what my cost would be either. They said the surgery ran between $14,000-$17,000 but that the 10% I paid wouldn't be actually 10% because it would be after their insurance discounts and then could only reach my out-of-pocket amount. I did have to pay a surgeon's upfront fee of $217. Hope this helps! ~~anne

The other thing that I think I did wrong was to drink "normally" afterward. I couldn't understand why my chest hurt so much and then it hit me that I was probably drinking too much too fast. Today, I am SIPPING over a long period of time. Of course, it's more difficult to get in my calories that way on full liquids but still...I feel better. Hope this helps someone! ~~anne

Has anyone on here worked nightshift? I was reading the number of meals discussion and wondering what I will do when I go back to work. Of course, I'm still on full liquids next week, so meal times aren't an issue then. I just wondered about adding a "Fourth Meal" as Taco Bell would say! By the way, my version of chai tea is to buy the chai tea bags, brew, then add a splenda and a dash of SF vanilla creamer. It's REALLY good. Also, sometimes I'll add brewed coffee in place of the hot Water to make it "latte-like". Thanks, Anne

Oh wow. It's hard to imagine that in 12 hours, I will be banded! I've lost 10 lbs pre-op and THINK I have everything I need ready to go. I'm still doing a little laundry and have to work 1/2 night tonight. The BIG thing I did today was get a pedicure/manicure. It was wonderful! Two hours of someone else pampering ME! I have still not told my teen daughters although they know I'm dieting and will be starting at the gym next week. What are the chances I can keep them in the dark? It's great to get on this site and see all the great success stories! Until the next time... :eek:

Hey Ronda--I'm saying extra prayers for you today because you are anxious. I'm sure that's normal. I'm a tad jittery today (tomorrow is my surgery) even though I had the OLD gallbladder surgery and did well with it! lol I've thought about the letter thing before and wondered if we shouldn't all do that periodically (with updates). My mother died when I was 13 and I wish I'd had something from her. Another reason I think so morbidly is because I work for hospice, so I deal with families and death all the time. Now, as an encouragement I hope, I have done lots of research on this surgery and feel like it is so much safer than carrying extra weight around. Your little boy will have a much better mommy who can run and play with him soon! Check in with us! ~~anne

I am taking centrum chewables but you can take two flinstones. Some of the OB doctors give those to their patients who can't tolerate the regular vitamins. Oh Karen--I'm so sorry that happened! I have a situation at bible study I'm trying to figure out what to do about. I mentioned I would be off Thursday (I was supposed to do childcare--it's 3 times a year) and needed to get someone to take it for me. Well, a friend asked me if my surgery had to do with my knee...I stopped a minute and said, "yes" hesitantly and she took it and ran. A friend of my mom's stopped her Sunday and mentioned to her that I'm having KNEE surgery! :rolleyes:I'm reasonably sure when I come back that everyone will be asking about my knee surgery and I don't want to lie (it does have to do with my knee...it's just not my knee!). :tongue2: My teen daughters still don't know although they know I'm dieting and that I'm going to start going to a cardiac rehab gym (at the hospital where my surgery is being performed). If I tell them, the news will travel fast. Lambgram--watermum is. I have a list posted under "October Bandsters" under this forum and then there is a sub-forum under "2008" then "October". Just scroll down through your forum choices and you'll find it. I'm sure there are others out there too! So, how much have you lost? I've lost about 8 lbs in just over four days--amazing. ~~anne
