Is there anyone out there that has Harvard Pilgrim Health POS? I was wondering if you could tell me what they require before being approved for the surgery. -

How long before I know...
Mommy07 replied to Mommy07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Harvard Pilgrim Health I don't know if they are considered co-morbidities; sciatica(lower back pain), soft tissue damage in my feet, heart burn, and I am always tired. -
I am attending the free seminar in Maine next Wednesday. I also have a doctors appointment the very next day to talk about a referral with my doctor. I was wondering if you some of you could share your stories about how long it took after the application process, before the surgeon called and then how long after until your date was scheduled?

Good morning, I'm from Maine and I am somewhere between 5'6" and 5'7" I weigh 260 lbs and I am 27 years old. I have problem with my feet, lower back, and sleeping as well as headaches. My BMI is around 40-42 depending on where I put in my info. I went to LapBand.com and their site says I may qualify and if i want the informational booklet give my info and they would send it in 5-7 days. Well I did this twice and instead of a booklet i get a letter that says i don't qualify???? I am so confused because on their website it says you have to be 18 older (I'm 27), have to loose at least 100 (I have to loose 125), Have a BMI of at least 40 or 35 with comorbidites (mine is between 40-42)...Am I wasting my time by going to the seminar in maine next wednesday? I want and need to have this surgery so badly and I am willing to do whatever they tell me to do! I feel like I am the perfect candidate for the surgery. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

I was wondering what I can do now to move the Insurance process along? I am attending the seminar next Wednesday. I am going to my PCP next Thursday to get a referral, cholesterol tested, blood pressure, etc.. I have writen a letter for the insurance company about all my attempts ("supervised and un-supervised") to lose weight. I am 5'7" and weigh 264 pounds, I only have two co-morbidities, lower back pain, and pain in my feet. Is there anything else that I can do now to move along the Insurance process? I have Harvard Pilgrim Health Care POS. -Abbie (Hopefull)

Good morning from Maine! I joined Lap Band Surgery Discussion Forum because I am looking into getting banded! However, I don't know where to start or if I qualify. I am 27 years old and I will be 28 in December. I have been trying to lose weight and keep it off since 2002. I have tried Atkins diet, south beach diet, and weight watchers. It took me 2 years to lose 60 lbs with weight watchers. After I got married in 2006 we tried to have a baby and I was getting stressed because it was taking so long to happen. So, I gained back about 15 lbs in just 8 months! When I got pregnant I gained a total 70 lbs! I have tried since then tried to lose the weight but I lose 5 gain 5 etc... So, 7 months later I am 5'7" weighing in at 259 lbs I would like to be a healthy 130. When I found out that my insurance company covers pre-op, post-op, and surgery I was excited...However, there are stipulations and now I don't know if I would qualify for the surgery or not! My BMI is 40.6, I have to lose 124 lbs, I have problems with pain in my feet and I am seeing a podiatrist on Monday. I've got Lower back problems that keep me from sleeping well, but this is not diabeates or anything "severe". I am ready to change my life, For ME, and I have a great husband that is going to support me every step of the way! So, after all that history...should I make an appointment to see my primary care physician and see what he thinks?
