So i had my surgery last month. I am self pay as insurance will not cover. I paid around $18-19K. I had to pay before i could have the surgery. A couple weeks after surgery i notice there was a claim from the hospital on my insurance for that same surgery for around $40K. Which they denied since its not covered. I called the hospital to find out what the heck is going on. So i gave them my receipts showing i paid the Surgeons fee, Surgeon assistant fee, Anesthesiologist fee, Hospital facility fee, complication coverage fee, Pathology, psychological exam, and nutritional evaluation. all coming out to about $19K. So they told me they would figure out what happened and why my they did my insurance instead of self pay. Today i get a email from the hospital that they switched me to self pay and that i am owed a refund of over $3,000 which was odd because i am not owed anything. So i called and they checked and checked and said they gave me a discount since I paid cash lol. So i was like... ARE YOU SURE... Because once i get this money i am paying off my credit cards and you wont be getting that money back... and they checked and said i am good. So i should be getting some moolah back here in the next couple days lol. So thanks for that mistake haha.

Water is good for your mental health too. If you drink a gallon of water per day, you wont have time for other people's drama because you'll be too busy peeing. Stay hydrated my friends. lol 🤣

So been trying to find a vitamin that does not cause me nausea or make me throw up. Sure enough it was the amount of iron in them. I switched from the 45mg of iron one to the 18mg of iron and no nausea, no vomiting.

This is me 1 year out. I take an extra iron supplement at a later time of day of my multivitamin

liveaboard15 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
so first the picture... i dont like showing my face online... so sorry. But yea starting weight 317lb and size 57 pants and 4XL shirt Now 186lb size 34 pants and size large shirt which is a little big So before surgery i did not date for a very long time. I was really big and really never found anyone interested in me. Now almost 1 year and 1 month after surgery i get hit on a ton... and for me being a guy that is awesome. Literally had 2 girls at work fighting over me which was insane. Had to put a stop to it because it was getting bad lol. But wow. i swear if i was taller than 5'4 i would probably get hit on more haha. But its nice. My best friend said to buy a wedding band and wear it to stop them from hitting on me lol. But its nice noticing girls looking and not looking at me like ewwww he is huge. -
Manage Sleep Apnea
liveaboard15 replied to dIsLosingIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no issues using my sleep apnea machine after surgery. and the surgery pains are really not a big deal The most pain is from the air they inject into your chest/stomach. and there is nothing you can do about that other than walk walk walk to get it out. -
Today marks 1 year since i had gastric sleeve surgery. Starting weight 317lb, Current weight 193lb Hunger comes back with a vengeance. There is not a single piece of food that i have issues with from healthy to very unhealthy stuff... So that is something i have to watch closely because i can get very bad cravings for sweets like donuts, pastries, bread ect... I can eat a lot more now than before. So have to watch that portion size and stop with the snacking. I could have probably lost more weight if i actually worked out but i rarely ever worked out. Just too busy with work. But overall i am very happy with the way i look now. love being able to find clothing at any store, no issues flying coach ect... Last week i took my 1 year bloodwork. still waiting for the results on that. I am moving next month across the country for my job so that is exciting.

Started at 317lb before surgery. Its been almost a year and 1 month since. Weighed myself today and i am at 189lb. Only 9 more pounds to go to reach my intended goal weight tho if i loose more then awesome!! I actually gained weight about a month or 2 ago and that was my fault do to eating poorly... donuts and donuts and donuts... Its hard because they get delivered fresh to my job everyday and they just taunt me in the display case... lol So i think i will be loosing a lot more weight soon next month because i am moving to a place in the pacific northwest with tons of outdoor trails and hiking which i love to do but here in Florida its too hot to do outside stuff most of the year like that haha. I will be doing the van life thing so planet fitness membership for showers and of course working out everyday which i have not done much of this past year. So i will be resetting my goal weight to 160lb. and i reach that that will blow my mind. I had my 1 year follow up last week. Doctor was like "did you forget to take your vitamins? i told her yes... for about a month or so. She was like SEEEE thats proof they work because my vitamin labs were low. so yea i gotta take it everyday. They are referring me to a GI doctor due to my climbing Biliruben levels. Surgeon does not know why it keeps going up. I had a nuclear scan of my gall bladder and its working just fine without any blockage.

So they had me checked for gallbladder problems because that is what they thought too. So i had a HIDA scan which is a nuclear type test. and they saw my gallbladder working perfectly, No issues, no blockages, no stones. -

So i saw the GI doctor today. He thinks i have something called Gilberts disease. which is harmless. They sent me for some blood work tomorrow to confirm i guess. -

So that is the issue my surgeon is curious about because all other liver including AST and ALT are all perfect. But biliruben is climbing and its at its highest ever. I go back again in 2 days for another biliruben test -

Lab test literally just came back to my email. My Bilirubin levels continue to rise... My iron saturation, total were low, and Vitamin D low. My cholesterol levels are all in the green. Way way into the green when before surgery they were sooooo high. -
How long did it take for your incision area not to hurt?
liveaboard15 replied to Nyxienoodles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
a couple months for me. The big incision hurt for a long while after surgery. -
How did you break a stall?
liveaboard15 replied to xbrittney90's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
you just have to wait it out. some stalls are short and some are long. My longest was about 6 weeks. Keep the carbs low, eat well and you will get thru it. -
So last week we hired a new person at my job. Today was my first day training them and we got to talking and sure enough. She had Gastric Sleeve surgery 6 years ago. I was like NOO WAY me too! but 11 months ago lol. She is i think in her late 40's. and she was i think 330lb and currently at 165lb 6 years later and doing great. Nice to meet someone like me lol. I am coming up on my 1 year surgery date next month.

Bread after gastric sleeve?
liveaboard15 replied to Krasavitza's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i had bread about 4 months after surgery. But i get bread that is very very low in carbs. Normal bread has lots of carbs... This bread is amazing and taste like regular bread. Only one grocery store in my area has it. -
exactly what happened to me. My EKG came back abnormal, Basically said i have had a previous silent heart attack. (I had no idea) and i had to see my cardiologist to get clearance for surgery. For me the cardiologist ordered a Nuclear Stress Test. Was simple and took a few hours. Not sure if you will get the same test. But basically arrive at the hospital or testing place, They put an IV in you. Inject you with a radioactive tracer wait a bit, Get a scan from a Gamma Camera, Then they will either have you walk/jog on a treadmill to get your heart rate to where it needs to be or they will give you a medication that will raise your blood pressure. (you want the treadmill) Then you go back under the gamma Camera and done. After that i got my clearance and was able to get my surgery. I think i got 2 doses of the radioactive tracer one for each scan.

You are fine. around week 2-3 you end up hitting the infamous 3rd week stall where you wont loose and can gain. and this will happen throughout your first year. your body is adjusting. just stick to the plan
