  1. I do my measurements and weigh in on the 4th of every month. Surgery Date April 18th 2022. Pre op diet weight 317lb. As you can see this month i did not loose much weight. Almost no weight for 3 weeks. Typical stall. It happens. We shall see where we are at next month. Hoping to reach under 200lb
  2. Was hitting up my local dispensary and next door was a vitamin shop so i popped in and found these. 32 grams of protein and zero carbs, sugar. Taste like blue raspberry. Also had a bunch of different protein shakes that i have not seen before. Decided to get one to try out.

    No medical support

thats so stupid wow... as far as hydration. Google in your area IV Therapy. and see if anyone offers it. In my area several companies offer IV hydration. You pay and get the IV bag and you can have vitamins and other things added to it. The ones that put the IV in your arms are all RN's I have been wanting to go to one here soon. I am 6 months post op and i still struggle to get in more than 40 oz of water a day. Below is a picture of the menu offered at my local hydration center. yours will differ. Basically we choose the IV Bag, add however many vitamins in it we want and thats it.
  6. one day i decide to go to my local mall. and i could not walk across from one end to the other without serious back pain and just exhausted. Also i am a person that enjoys traveling and everytime i travel i have to fly first class for the bigger seat and its so expensive. I could pay 400 bucks round trip for coach vs $1500 for first class... Also not being able to ever find any clothes that fit... Most stores dont carry anything larger than XL except for like walmart. and pants size was impossible as well as no one really carried size 54. I am now a size 42 and can find that everywhere.

    Post Op sugery

Yea the first little while can be hard. I could not sleep in my bed for at least a month. I slept in a recliner.
  9. So i am about 5 and a half months post op. My hair is starting to thin out. Knew it was coming, Oh well lol. It will grow back eventually. Lost almost no weight so far this month. guessing i am in a stall again... gotta hate it lol. anyways prepping for a hurricane here in Florida. Should be here by the end of the week.

Hair is starting to thin a bit

not everyone will experience it. and no not really. I get way more than enough protein. But it will grow back.

    Why

what do you mean by earn?
  12. Ok so you did not get weight loss surgery for the weight loss. It was due to this tumor on your stomach. Ok now i get ya. You may need to end up getting revised to bypass if your reflux is getting this bad. Its always a fear for most that get the sleeve on having to revise it to bypass and its something i fear because my insurance does not cover these surgeries. Maybe talk to your doctor about other PPI medications. There are better ones than Omeprazole.
  13. what is your weight and height? Why did you get weight loss surgery if you were already underweight and on a permanent liquid diet due to other health issues?
  14. never really heard of people going from bypass to a sleeve revision. dont really get how that works because a sleeve is basically getting rid of 85% of your stomach and giving you a sleeve. Bypass is even more restrictive with a smaller pouch but the other part of the stomach remains. So they just removed that other part of the stomach i am guessing?

GERD After Revision to Bypass and Linx

had no idea you could get GERD after bypass. That was the whole point of doing that. as for the linx i was looking into that a couple months ago. Its interesting but also very odd lol. I checked out how much that would cost (I am self pay) and i think the surgery for that was like 14K.

    Post VSG Vitamins/Supplements

So this question is best for your surgeon/nutritionist... Because we can all be a little different. I had gastric sleeve as well and i take bariatricpal capsules with 18mg of iron once a day. bariatricpal chewable calcium 500mg twice a day and i take 1 extra iron supplement a day as well because my last blood work showed slight low iron. Thats all i take. Since you are two months post op you should be having your 3 month check up here soon and hopefully they are having you do blood work to check to see how the vitamins are working for you. with that information you can adjust if needed.

    Gastric bypass - self pay

It took about a month for them to straigten out my issue with them billing my insurance almost 50K when i already paid cash for my surgery. you will get it sorted out. So dont sweat it. give us updates when you get them.

    Gastric bypass - self pay

That is very wrong. When you are self pay... You get the cost of the surgery. and for self pay patients. You need to pay before you even can schedule the surgery. i was self pay. I got my quote. I did gastric sleeve. For Bypass it was around $24K. and as for the pre op testing. Almost every surgeon has them. I had to do them. EKG, Xray, Blood work, Psyc Eval ect... All those things i had to pay additionally but it wasnt that expensive. Xray was 50 bucks... EKG was 60, psyc eval was $600. now i do have health insurance but they dont cover the surgery but it did cover some of the pre op testing. Because my EKG came back with issues i had to see a cardiologist and get a nuclear stress test done. Which cost me around $500 out of pocket after my insurance. So after i had surgery. I saw my hospital billed my insurance for $45K which they denied. After i found out i called the hospital and it was a mistake. But you should not be getting any kind of bills after the surgery if you are self pay and paid before surgery. Get a itemized bill and make sure you are getting the SELF PAY Rate... Because my gastric sleeve surgery self pay rate (Which i am posting a picture) which is in the $18K range... With insurance it would have been over $45K... Most hospitals have discounted self pay rates.
  19. I went to the ER about a month after surgery due to severe pain and swelling in my leg. Thought it could be a deep vein thrombosis. They did a ultrasound of the veins in my legs to verify and no clots. But clots in the legs is a very serious issue after any major surgery. I only got blood thinner injections while in the hospital. some more overweight people get a script for them for weeks beyond surgery
  20. So before surgery i was 317lb and i am 5'4 so i am a short guy and so i was very wide. My old pants size 54 which i could never find anywhere. No store carried them unless i went to a special big and tall store. So i normally wore elastic shorts. It was very frustrating when i needed to buy dressy clothes or even anything to go out in. Now i am at 230lb and my pants size is now 42. Which i can easily find everywhere. I went shopping today and bought some new stuff and was excited when i went to the fitting room and the size 42 fit perfect and my shirt size which was almost 4XL. I was 3XL but stretching it because no one sold 4XL. and now XL shirts fit me. Today i am going to see my best friend who i have not seen since before surgery so she can see the difference lol.
  21. My hospital had strict rules regarding that that no uber, taxi, lyft could be used to take you home after surgery. had to be friend, family or a medical service.

    PSA

Yea i am not a fan of off brand stuff. typically they taste like crap lol.
  23. Most difficult thing at first is going to be getting up and siting down or getting out bed. Get a cane and one of those grabber things so you can pick things up that fall to the ground. i could not sleep in a bed for at least a month

    Pre-pre-op diet question

water weight... Just wait til you have the surgery and get out of the hospital. You will gain several pounds due to water weight (IV Fluids) you generally fluxuate a couple pounds everyday
  25. Here is my info month to month. I am a guy tho lol I had surgery on April 18th. So the April section is before surgery. Then May would be 1 month after.
