This was my meal prep size for around i think 4 months or so. and even this was a little on the too much side. your stomach can hold like what 4 oz of food. so i would be going with that measurement or a little less. eat nice and slow

High B12 and folate levels
liveaboard15 replied to JenX74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
have you been taking any supplements? It can be an issue with the liver, kidneys ect... But that is the whole point of these test. To find out this information and act on it. So more than likely if the levels are beyond what they think is good they will order more testing. I had a similar issue with the EKG pre op. It showed issues and they told me i had to go see a cardiologist before i could have the surgery and get cleared. If your surgeon appointment is far away then maybe you can see your primary care doctor and see what they say. Or even online there are telehealth doctors that do appointments for like 40 bucks and you can send them your results and they can give you their opinion on it as well. I did that once 2 years ago with a internet telehealth doc and they faxed me an MRI order which was quick and easy. Good luck! -

Questions about MMJ use.
liveaboard15 replied to beaglegirl2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I smoke almost everyday a joint. I got my medical card here in Florida. So edibles hit different now. So i would go low and slow with that. But no issues with using MJ. Yes they cause the munchies. So i try to keep some good snacks to help with those cravings. my local gas station has a lot of protein snacks now especially chips so i grab those, some Quest protein peanut butter cups, slim jims stuff like that. and i get full very quickly so 2 slim jims and i am full. i stayed off the MJ for the first 2 months after surgery. I wanted to make sure i was good on regular solid foods without issue. -
Cheated for the 1st time since surgery
liveaboard15 replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have days like that all the time. Not everyday but every once in a while its nice to eat some stuff you miss. Yesterday i had half a kit kat bar and it was delicious. -
Its up to your surgeon. Mine specifically said not to give up caffeine during this time because of how rough it can be on the liquid diet that they dont want to cause more stress lol. but they did say no sugar, and for creamers to use sugar free creamers only. for sugar i used TRUVIA which is what i still use everyday now post op. But yes using protein shakes for creamers is a great way to get in that protein and coffee at the same time. My nutritionist highly recommended that.

3.5 weeks PO Gastric Sleeve DUMPING?!
liveaboard15 replied to nhskigal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
on an unrelated note. Where i work we sell cold hard boiled eggs and two days ago i had someone put them in the microwave i guess to warm them up. The moment he took them out both eggs exploded in spectacular fashion right in his face. Eggs everywhere from the floor to the ceiling. He was in shock like "What just happened" i was like "Dude... you dont put boiled eggs in a microwave"... lol -
Let me also add. You can start earlier if you want. It will help you out a lot too. getting use to being on liquids only for a while after surgery.
-
Yes its normal. Its all based on your weight, height. SOme are only on it for 1 week. some 2 weeks some more than a month for the bigger people. and some only 1 day before. Consider yourself VERY LUCKY. I did 2 weeks and it was hell lol
-
i am 7 months post op and i still struggle with getting in 64oz of water. I do my best. drinking throughout the day. as for protein shakes i find that getting those little 1 ounce medicine cups and taking 1 of those at a time every so often helped a ton!

Having GERD. Will insurance cover revision if BMI IS 31?
liveaboard15 replied to NewlySleeved12282020's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Typically this is not for weight loss... This is to help another issue (GERD) so i dont think BMI would matter in this case... But call your insurance company to verify -
every insurance company is different. Call yours and see. My insurance wont cover it which sucks lol

only cardiac things i have are heart valve regurgitation, I had a heart attack last year as well. Before my surgery i had to get a nuclear stress test done which came back ok. showed reduced blood flow in certain sections of my heart but the surgery was well worth it.

Worsening GERD do I need Bypass
liveaboard15 replied to Abbynormal4875's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
if you had GERD before. I am unsure why a surgeon would allow you to go thru sleeve and the sleeve can make that worse. getting a endoscope may be a good thing to get done that can see the acid and how your esophagus is. But those with GERD/heartburn tend to get better with bypass. That is why most that get the sleeve end up getting a revision to bypass because of GERD issues. -
I have IBS but not IBS D. Nothing has changed for me in that regards. hopefully it does for you.

Ultrasound good... Now time for HIDA SCAN
liveaboard15 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So surgeon called saying my ultrasound came back good. No issues other than a small note that my spleen is borderline oversized. But other than that its all good. Next up they are ordering a HIDA scan. basically they inject you with this radioactive stuff that your liver filters out and into your gall bladder, Then they see it on a Gamma Camera. Then they inject you with a synthetic hormone to simulate you eating a very fatty meal to get your gall bladder to empty itself so they can see that process on the gamma camera. Shall see how that goes. -

liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
very interesting. I doubt they will order a CT Scan but that is easily fixed. I can buy a lab order online for 40 bucks. Did it last year for an MRI for my chest lol. -
i mean you can see all the people here that post that weight loss surgery does work if you stick to the plan. you can drink later on once you healed up... Most say weight a year but of course you dont have to but it will help your weight loss if you do. also alcohol will be a bit different than before where just a drink or two can get you pretty buzzed. remember beer has lots of carbs in it. carbs are something we want to keep to a minimum. (Low carb beers maybe)

what is it...

typically in Texas any marketplace plan will not cover any kind of bariatric surgery. SO its a lot of the southern states that do not cover it due to the fact that the majority of people there are overweight and eat poorly. (Which is what one insurance agent told me) So the only way to get it covered would be to move to a state that does cover it, get your surgery and move back. I thought about that if i ever needed a revision because here in Florida its also excluded. I paid cash for my surgery
