First Appointment
liveaboard15 replied to simplysmile's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My first appointment was about 5 minutes long. They weighed me, Took me to a room where a nurse went thru the paperwork and lab test that i brought from my medical record and asked me some questions, Surgeon came in after, explained what gastric sleeve surgery was and quickly read over the nurses notes and that was it. Got a binder with information on the steps needed to complete (Nutrition class, Support group, Psyc Eval) and in the mail a week later i got my lab orders and imaging orders to do. -
I see post on here almost weekly about people getting pregnant soon after surgery. Saw one a couple weeks ago that they were only like a month out. Try using the search box at the top of the page and type in Pregnant. It will show you a bunch of topics regarding it. Some info for you until some people reply to this post Good luck.

Timeline i would guess would be different depending on if you are using insurance or doing self pay.

What I wish i knew before I had surgery
liveaboard15 replied to Shineaiggy29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is what i am most worried about for when i have surgery. I currently drink a ton of water and love to guzzle it down. Especially right before bed i drink a ton. -
that depends on how far you are in your post surgery... What phase you are at.

First Appointment Jitters
liveaboard15 replied to suzannethemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first appointment literally lasted 5 minutes... Just brought in prior medical history which the assistant looked over and she asked some questions and then the surgeon came in and talked about the procedure quickly and quickly looked over the assistants notes and that was it. Never asked why i wanted the surgery just asked which surgery i want. -
2 weeks into process, crazy insurance rules and confused!
liveaboard15 replied to LisaCee's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Yea mine is costing about $19K. Which kinda pisses me off because i swear with insurance insurance negociates prices with the hospitals but apparently i cant... Like i had a colonoscopy, Endoscopy earlier last year and they billed my insurance like $15K but my insurance only paid them around $3K. But anyways My binder i got with all my info said i needed to call to make these appointments for everything. The hospital would not do it. I also have to call like 6 different companies to make payments for the surgery once i am approved from the surgeons office, anesthesiologist, hospital fee, Pathology, Some complication insurance coverage they require and so on. lol -

Lots of people on insurance have so many requirements that take months. Luckily i had a Endoscopy earlier this year so i dont need to do it again. as well as the stress test. The stress test tho was only 15 minutes on a treadmill with a bunch of wires connected to me. typically you also have a Chest Xray and a EKG. Sleep study is no big deal. I did that earlier this year and got diagnosed with sleep apnea. and personally i love the cpap machine lol. Most hate it. but yea i tried to speed everything up and could not. Only thing holding me back is that stupid Psyc Evaluation that is probably gonna cost me around 800 bucks or so. -

Sounds like mine tho my insurance wont cover it and i am paying cash. Tho i thought by paying cash it would be quicker. My 1st appointment was last month wtih the surgeon. Was not even 5 minutes. I had to go pick up a binder at another office with all the information. I had to do that Nutrition class which was completely pointless and useless. It was 40 minutes on zoom with some other people telling me the same things i already knew thru youtube videos (there went $400) As for labs and such they sent me that a few weeks later thru the mail but warned me not to do them yet because apparently the labs and other stuff like xrays and EKG were only good for say 30 days. If i did it too early i would have to redo them. But yea i got no diet to follow either. They said that would be a part of the 2nd surgeon appointment. Next up i have a psychological evaluation in March. After that if everything is good then i can make my 2nd surgeon appointment where they will look over everything and let me know if we can schedule surgery or not. -
I said i would not... I didnt say they should or shouldnt... Dont be such a Karen and calm down... No one is judging anyone...

My Face Is Broken!
liveaboard15 replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is hilarious. I never considered that. Tho i dont use facial stuff. I like my typical 4 digit code lol. -
Never heard of that one. There are dozens and dozens of different protein powders and drinks to choose from. The premier protein already made ones are delicious and come in so many different flavors... Also one other i like is the ISOPURE Unflavored protein powder. you can add it to soups, drinks, or make your own. I prefer unflavored because the flavored ones are strong and just not a fan of it.
-
Where they located? Dr Yu is such a common name lol. There is a Bariatric surgeon here in my part of Florida with that name.
-
yea let us know what kind of protein are you using.
-
Go on youtube and search that... There are dozens and dozens and dozens of videos on the subject and peoples own experience. I watched dozens of videos before settling on what i wanted. There are also tons of videos on people showing before surgery, during surgery and right after surgery and so on on what its like. Great resource to do some learning.
