liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw a youtube video of the procedure. Exactly as you described. I am kinda hoping they dont do the injection to raise my heart rate and instead put me on a treadmill like before (Non nuclear type stress test) -
Nuclear Stress Test
liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In each foot???? i have never heard of that. My gosh -
your 6 months out and your sidebar says you started at 477lb and lost 162lb and are currently at 315. That is amazing for only 6 months. Keep it going. home scales are not always accurate and many people end up in a stall where they wont loose any weight for a little while. Thats normal.

I still have not had my surgery but i know about them liquid diets because i have a condition called diverticulosis. Every so often i have to go on them and man i absolutely hate them with a passion. Best thing is to keep your mind occupied. Find something to do to keep your mind off of food. Video games, movies, shopping, ect...

Psychiatric Evaluation done... Finally.
liveaboard15 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been waiting since middle of December to get the stupid psychiatric evaluation done. Today was their first available appointment for testing since December. They said it would take 3-4 hours to complete, I got done in 1 hour. It was roughly 650 questions on one test and 200 questions on another. hopefully everything comes back normal and i can get scheduled. I had a 1 hour "interview" with the psychologist on Tuesday and she said as long as the testing comes up good then i can get scheduled -

So Yesterday i had my Psyc Eval and after i went to another floor to get my EKG done which is required as part of my pre op stuff. it was very quick, Took longer to put on all the leads than the actual EKG lol. So the report got posted on my online medical record and seems that there are issues... Anyone know anything about EKG's. I dont have another appointment with the surgeon for a little while but obviously it will come up during that time...

There are so many different protein shakes you can use. Premier Protein is one of the most popular because the ready made ones have 30G of protein in the small "juice box" Fairfield is another good brand and so on there are tons... As for pre surgery some people have to do a liquid diet for a week, 2 weeks, a month it all depends on what your surgeon says. after surgery you will be on a liquid diet for some time... Again it depends on what your surgeon says as they all do different things. -
Maybe getting something from this very website you are on. They have a store section and have sweets that are "healthy" sugar free and such. may satisfy the craving? They have cookies, Chocolate and a bunch of other stuff.

Psychiatric Evaluation done... Finally.
liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is what i am thinking too. While i am self pay, The pre op testing so far has been covered but that psyc exam would have been around $700 or so. I only had to pay $40 copay. -

Yea for some reason my location is very picky. I talked to other bariatric centers and they dont even require any kind of psyc exam. -
Self pay questions
liveaboard15 replied to RaisnHL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL Yea cheapest was $15,500, One reason i chose this hospital is because they do offer a type of insurance that covers any complication that may come up during surgery because my insurance will not cover anything involving bariatric surgery or complication. But yea USA hospitals are very expensive compared to the rest of the world and yes most doctors do drive exotic cars. One doctor near where i live use to drive a McLaren. tho a few years ago that doctor was having his car transported by a semi truck and it got stuck on railroad tracks and got hit lol. -
Self pay questions
liveaboard15 replied to RaisnHL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing Self pay... Here is everything that is a part of my package for the sleeve. Out of the 3 main hospitals in my area this was the most expensive. Cheapest i found was around the $15K mark but the hospital was a for profit hospital which i am not a fan of. I was able to get insurance to pay some things like blood work, Xray, EKG, Psychological exam. -

how does sleeve gastrectomy affect your appetite?
liveaboard15 replied to bombshellocks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve removes the part of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone Ghrelin. -
There is no way to prevent excess skin... Its gonna happen. you can learn to live with it or look into a tummy tuck. Some i seen on here wear spandex to keep it all in but its a side affect of loosing weight.
