i had surgery on Monday for sleeve. was sent home yesterday with a bunch of meds. one included a stool softener.
-
had my gastric sleeve surgery yesterday morning. waking up became a issue as i was not able to breath, they had to give me a double dose of the anti paralytic. but after that i was able to breath on my own, Went to my room to recover. Gas pains are no joke. walked around as much as possible. The stomach injections of blood thinners sucked. But i just got home and set to recover.
-
Today is the day. Its 5am and heading to the hospital soon. Surgery is scheduled for 9:30am. hopefully everything goes smoothly and recovery goes smoothly and i will be back home tomorrow afternoon. 14 days of preop diet. Was not as bad as it seemed. Tho there were plenty of times that hunger was intense. Funny thing is i could take my jetski to get my surgery too if i really wanted lol. Hospital is literally on the banks of the river and there is boat parking nearby. lmao if i could ride back home i so would have. I been to my doctors appointment before on my jetski. Its alot easier and more fun than driving there. See y'all tomorrow hopefully.

Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
liveaboard15 replied to Vivis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
while my program was a all liquid diet. They did say that in the event of extreme hunger i could have 1 meal of lean chicken or fish, baked or grilled with a small portion of non starchy veggies. So typically i would choose sockeye salmon and asparagus. to replace one of the 5 protein shakes i have to drink daily. I am on day 14. My surgery is in a few hours. I hope you start to feel better. Make sure you are drinking your shakes. Call your bariatric center to see if they allow this 1 meal that you are struggling. -
Hi New with questions
liveaboard15 replied to Sunshine19826's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome to the group. I hope someone is able to answer your questions. I have surgery tomorrow. One part of my pre op testing which was required (but not required for everyone, it depends on your program) is a psychological evaluation. Which go into details regarding almost everything you said there. -
same. I was told not to take any nsaids. i also have another condition called diverticulosis (pockets in the colon) and that GI doctor also said NSAIDS are bad for GI issues.

Well looks like the time has come. Surgery for the sleeve tomorrow morning at 9:30am. Have to be at the hospital at 6:30am. all set to enjoy my last day before the healing begins. Spending my last day out on the water.

Hitting Rock Bottom...
liveaboard15 replied to carrielee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome to the group. Yea we all reach that point. I reached that point last year too. I am 34 years old. If i may ask. what is your weight and height? You can add that information on your sidebar in your profile under surgery section. -
Thanks. excited to get it over with lol. and i got your PM i will just answer here. Ive been overweight most of my adult life. I am 34 years old. I remember being 18-19 years old and a girl i dated at the time we weighed ourselves and i weighed about 200lb and i am 5'4. From then on my weight started to go up and up once i was out of high school. In high school i was very active being in the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) always exercising, marching and such. Once i got out of high school i was no longer active working full time typically in a office environment always eating fast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. By around 2016 i was around 270 and last year i reached 300lb and April 4th when i started my liquid diet i was 317.

Keep busy... Get rid of any food at home that will be a temptation... I have been on my liquid diet now for 13 days and my surgery is tomorrow morning. the first few days are the hardest. After that your body starts to get use to it and the hunger is not as bad. Good luck.
-
yup thats the one i find. but i swear there use to be a fat free one but apparently its gone forever because no grocery store i have been to has it.
-
I have been looking for fat free cream cheese for months. Nothing at all at any grocery store i go to. Its like they stopped making it lmao

I did the majority of my research before even seeing the surgeon. I watched a ton of videos on youtube regarding the different surgeries, complications that each one can have and so on. If you havent already its a great place to start so that way when you do see the surgeon you have a decent knowledge of what they will be talking about and possibly more questions to ask. Tho you mention you do have acid reflux. The gastric sleeve will probably (not always) be out of the question for you so possibly bypass is what your surgery will probably end up being. Good luck with your appointment. Let us know what the surgeon says.

Sounds like you are in a stall... Which is very very common and you will have more stalls along your journey. Just keep at it.

My dad has had a cpap machine for years and he is not even close to being overweight. I have had mine now for almost a year and i personally love that machine. I sleep so good with it. Not interested in getting rid of it lol

What are Bariatric capsules made from?
liveaboard15 replied to Abnormal Angie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
omeprazole is for stomach acid, its a proven drug. your all natural stuff are typically not recommended by a actual doctor because they are not prescribing stuff like that. I know nothing about the differences in capsules. Some are delayed release like my omprezole. Ive been on ompreazole for a while so had my dad. No dementia. But everything has a possible side affect. I mean you can literally take anything you want. doctors are there to tell you whats best to take per what they know that is scientifically proven, Natural meds and holistic stuff is not their area of expertise... Maybe you can find one of those types of holistic doctors and speak to them -
All liquid pre-op diet causing diarrhea?
liveaboard15 replied to Vivis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on Day 12 of the liquid preop and mine are extremely solid. But if you are having stomach issues they did tell me to take lactaid pills -
So i am going over a powerpoint presentation that the hospital sent over basically telling you what happens once i arrive at the hospital, during surgery and after. One thing is they are not providing any kind of the good pain medication (narcotics) WTF lol. Heck when i get my wisdom teeth taken out they give you some. Looks like i am gonna have to make a call and stock up on some before surgery just incase.

When i got covid 2 months ago i tried to go get that medication and i qualified but the doctors refused to give me a script for it due to the side affects. They told me it was not worth it. Both a urgent care and the ER Doctor at the hospital both refused the script for paxlovid. (Pi$$ed me off too because the ER Visit cost me $700 copay for nothing) I ended up getting sotrovimab monoclonal antibody treatment the next day at a local Urgent care center that had it available and that treatment was free i only had to pay my copay for urgent care but they billed my insurance nearly $3,000 lol

Yea what i am saying is if you do the revision, They can repair it then. But loosing weight is eating right and exercising. Find something that you like. I started going for a walk for about an hour a day at night (Its too hot here in Florida for the day lol) if you have a gym in your area they probably have classes for water aerobics and other ones. my mom goes to those types of classes a couple times a week.

damn that is sooo stupid it takes so long. reminds me of mine i went for my first surgeon consult on December 14th and one of the test they ordered was a psyc evalucation, Next available appointment wasnt until March 4th. Good luck! i hope you get thru it, Waiting is a pain. -
how young is she? Wear a mask in the house and make sure she is wearing one so she doesnt spew spit and cough across the room. The mask wont really prevent you from getting it but it will help minimize her from coughing it across the room and if possible stay a decent distance away from each other, Open windows, lysol spray, wipe things down. I got covid in Feb 20th and there are 5 people in my house, only 2 caught it from me, The rest never caught it and tested negative. I also have a nice big air filtration system in my bedroom but the virus is smaller than the filters capabilities but who knows maybe it helped.

most people get the hernia repaired during surgery.
