Struggling on day 1 of pre-op liquid diet lol
liveaboard15 replied to Happy Stylist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am self pay as well. The pre op diet length really depends on your BMI. Those of us with higher BMI's have fatty livers. and thats the whole point of the pre op diet is to shrink that liver. Your BMI of 35 is lower than most so you are lucky. -
Shortest surgery date from first visit/consultation
liveaboard15 replied to Loma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you would need to call doctors in your area because none of us know where you live. Start calling bariatric centers that you insurance will accept to see if they can fit you in. for me from when i completed all my pre op testing to surgery date was about 3 weeks. ( I am in Florida) -
Struggling on day 1 of pre-op liquid diet lol
liveaboard15 replied to Happy Stylist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seriously??? 2 day preop liquid diet? Consider yourself LUCKY!!!! LMAO. I had to do 2 weeks. I had surgery last Monday. I will tell you my hunger has been basically at a zero this past week. I have to set alarms to remind myself to get my protein in. -

Isnt medicaid tho for people over 65 years old or those with disabilities? -
you are probably in a stall. can last a couple weeks where you wont loose any. and its normal to gain or loose a pound. you cant be on that scale constantly. you will drive yourself crazy. Just keep at it.

protein shakes
liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its fine if i add it to greek yogurt and milk but i only add like half a scoop if that. Just doing anything to increase protein amount. But to stuff like broths its disgusting. -

liveaboard15 replied to liveaboard15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got me the flavorless protein powder. tried to put it in broths, OMG it was sooo gross lmao. I am going to go to the store later to try to find that gatorade that has 10G of protein in it. -
I have had no issues with any pills since my surgery last Monday. I have to take several medications they prescribed that are capsules and tablets and go down without issue. i just drink a tiny amount of water to get it down and wait a bit before taking the next capsule.

How much calcium??
liveaboard15 replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have two of these chewable calcium things. They are delicious. idk if the amount changes for a female tho. I was told to take it two hours after any iron supplement. -
you and i had our surgeries almost exactly. I had mine on April 18th. I moved onto full liquids right out of the hospital. Tho i have not had creamy soups yet. I have stuck with protein shakes, water, broths, and sugar free popsicles. One suggested the Cream of chicken soup. To mix with milk and ricotta cheese in a blender until it was thin.

Yea thats how it typically goes for out of network. I have had that happen so many times i make a appointment, provide my insurance. But they dont actually verify insurance coverage until a few days before the appointment which is stupid.

Weighed myself last night after a shower. 298lb. When i started the preop diet i was at 317. Exciting. I dont weigh myself everyday. I do it like every two weeks or longer. Scales will drive people mad if they weigh themselves everyday. So far recovery has been blah... Sleeping is the hardest because i cant sleep in my own bed, Its painful and i cant get up on my own, Recliner started to hurt my back after 2 days. so been going from chair to chair couch to couch. One good thing is the hunger is pretty much gone for now. I do not feel hungry at all through out the day. I have alarms set to make sure i am getting in the protein and water but thats proven to be difficult to get it all in but i do my best.

Surgery next week, need vitamin help
liveaboard15 replied to Vivis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally have several different ones. So since i just had surgery on Monday. I am not really wanting to do pills at this moment. So i am doing the patches. But thats only for maybe the first month. After that i have the Barimelts Multivamin (They melt in your mouth) and also the ones from this website here called Bariatric Pal Multivitamin One with 45mg iron. I will wait to take those once i am more healed -
Really? LOL I love tuna in olive oil. Taste amazing. I cant stand tuna in just water LMAO
-
I love tuna. Before surgery i would eat this specific one is what i liked but there are so many different choices. Great for 2 days a week. Not suppose to eat tuna more than that due to mercury.

It finally happened this morning lmao. haha.

Gall Bladder problems After VSG?
liveaboard15 replied to Crisscat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on monday and i have to take a medication called ursodiol for 6 months to prevent gall stones -
first is a recliner for when you get home. i have yet to be able to lay in a bed, Recliner has been amazing. 2nd would be a item recommended from someone in this group. Biotene dry mouth spray. It will help you so much after surgery when you cant drink much and your mouth is so dry. So whoever recommended that, thank you

Considering surgery but don't know where to start
liveaboard15 replied to colebaby216's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
First stop is getting a consult from a bariatric center near you (or some travel) and they can explain everything and what their self pay fees are. I just had surgery on Monday and i was self pay. I had the gastric sleeve and it cost me a little over $18,000 tho i did not finance. I sold some of my stuff and property. APR was too high on the loans. Also go on youtube and watch tons of videos on bariatric surgery. That is what i first started doing. -
Airplane anxiety, just venting
liveaboard15 replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I understand being embarrassed asking for the extender. Luckily you dont have to. you can buy extenders on amazon This one fits all airlines except southwest. https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-7-31-Airplane-Seat-Extender/dp/B08798Z7C1 -
