  1. I am also in FLorida. I did mine at the baptist bariatric center in Jacksonville, FL. I got the sleeve. It was roughly $18,000. My insurance would not cover it. I thought about mexico. Wanted to get it done at the ENDO hospital and their cost is under 10K. but me i just wanted to be near my house when i got surgery and did not want to travel.
  2. If you are planning on the sleeve. I highly suggest ENDOHOSPITAL in Mexico. They only do sleeves. The place is amazing.

    Cancelled Surgery

My bariatric center required a psychological evaluation before surgery and if you failed then you needed to take counseling classes until they feel you can get the surgery

In person at the gym is well worth the money. But for just a set of videos. Not so much

    Cancelled Surgery

So i am 5'4 as well. and i will tell you when i weighed around 200lb. I was happy. I had no issues with my body. I wore a size XL and i think like 36 pants (I am a guy lol) and i would go to the beach, no shirt no issues at all. yea i had a little fat on my stomach but nothing major. I personally would not have gotten my surgery if i weighed 200lb or less. but i weighed 317lb and was climbing so i had to take action when diets kept failing.
  9. So i am in Florida. My insurance (any insurance from the Affordable care act) wont cover bariatric surgery here in Florida. So i ended up paying about $18-19,000 for my surgery at the Baptist Bariatric Center in Jacksonville, FL. Surgery went great. So far no issues. I thought about going to Mexico but i just wanted to be near home. If i would have done it in mexico i would have done it at Endohospital that is literally within walking distance from the border (but they pick you up and take you back) The Surgeon there is American trained at universities here. and this place only does sleeves. Beautiful location. here is a link to his youtube channel and a video of the facility. I think their rate is just around $10K.

I am actually feeling great. I am actually going to start riding my bicycle hopefully in the next couple weeks. Just gotta get it tuned up. I stopped riding over a year ago due to the weight gain and i was beyond the capacity of the bicycle lol. Sucked too because that bicycle was expensive lol.

Hi. So first two weeks after surgery i was on a liquid only diet. (this varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon) Getting in the protein was easy. the fluids are difficult. I started eating solid food yesterday and so far no problems at all. I have had Eggs, Tuna, Salmon, chili, ect... no issues at all.. Now it does take me about 45 minutes to a hour to finish a small 4oz serving. only thing that sucks about that is food gets cold.

    Virtual Trainer

expensive... There are tons of videos for free on youtube that people can train with as well.
  13. I am just under 3 weeks post op here in Florida and i feel fine. I wouldnt have any issues really sitting in a plane or going walking around and i spent a good portion of the day yesterday at my local marina outside without issue. Only thing is i just make sure i have a good water bottle with me to get in all my fluids

    Nausea

are you getting in all your fluid and protein?
  15. really not much other than walking. Tho my gas only lasted maybe 2-3 days after leaving the hospital. They even told me pain killers would not do anything about the gas pains. That i just had to walk to get it out.

    day 1 of soft foods

and it was glorious lmao. So far today i had 2 quail eggs (they are tiny) No issues. and just finished a pouch of light tuna. The tuna took me over an hour to eat that little 2.6oz pouch. But it was nice! My 2 week follow up is today in a couple hours.

    Nausea

wow 5 months. That is insane. My nausea only lasted the first 2 days. and i was prescribed two big bottles of medication for nausea and i used none of it. I agree with sleever, make an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out

    day 1 of soft foods

    Worst Vitamins so far

I actually saw my surgeon today and he said he will send me lab orders before my next appointment (In 3 months) But the good thing is i can buy my own lab orders online on a website called walkinlab.com the only thing is you pay for them (cant use insurance) i have bought like a dozen test before in the past just to get a idea on how i am doing. They work if you have a labcorp or quest diagnostic in your area to do the testing.

    DAY 1 Pureed Stage

Its interesting to see the differences from surgeon to surgeon because i am 2 weeks from surgery and i am now on soft foods as of today like scrambled eggs, tuna, chicken ect... I had my follow up appointment today too and they were asking how i did with the soft foods.
  21. and i cant wait. so the paperwork my nutritionist gave me says i can move onto soft foods on May 3rd. Such as scrambled eggs, canned chicken, tuna, crab meat, ect... I think i am going to grab a dozen quail eggs at the supermarket since those are so much smaller and can probably do 2 of those to start and see what i can handle. and gonna pick up a cluster of crab legs too. Its been a month now of liquids so i am dying for something solid lol.
  22. wow. Maybe for bypass people its different since they mess with the small intestines. They need it all cleared out. Reminds me of my colonoscopy last year. That was horrible lol

Newly sleeved 4/28. Q’s for water

you can get a water bottle at walmart or any store that has measurements on it. That is how i keep track or simply drink from the standard 16oz water bottles you buy at the store. Also it took me about 4-5 days to finally go number 2. I have seen some say it take a week. hopefully your doctor provided a script for stool softeners because the 1st one is a doozy. But i simply just take sips of water through out the day. I also bought on amazon like 100 of those little 1 ounce cups. and i drink my protein with that. Makes it easier. I poor 1 little cup at a time. and when i feel like taking another i pour another little cup.
  24. Really??? I never had to take laxatives before surgery. was simply not to drink anything other than water after midnight.
  25. i had to drink the ensure pre surgery carbohydrate drink the night before surgery and 2 hours before surgery. at the hospital they had me wipe down with these special wipes all over my body.
