Pre-PreOP Diet and Appointment Jitters
liveaboard15 replied to LRSB's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
i gained a couple pounds from my first consult to my pre op appointment. It happens. as for the pre op diet... Yea its not easy. i dont know how long you will be on yours as you havent posted any weight or height in your profile but most common is 2 weeks. yea it sucks the first few days. After about 4-5 days you start to adjust and are not as hungry anymore. and yes that hunger feeling is horrible. but just think about what it will be like after surgery. I am almost 3 months post op. Rarely ever hungry. I gotta remind myself to eat and drink. Just gotta get thru this final step of the pre op diet and you will be golden. -
Stop loosing WAY too early
liveaboard15 replied to Veritas34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thats called the 3rd week stall... happens to EVERYBODY. sometimes it last a week. Sometimes it last several weeks where you wont loose much or any weight. and this will happen several times throughout your first year. your body is adjusting to the new calories -
Nice. What is your height and what surgery you getting?

My plan said no caffeine for i think a month post op. I still had it. Only in the form of the Premier Protein Coffee Shake that has caffeine in it. I had no issues. The milk tho may cause issues. My paperwork said to take lactaid pills for those with milk issues. But as someone said. I would test how it goes at home vs being out and having stomach issues.

Olive oil dispense and measure bottle
liveaboard15 replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting. I have never really measured olive oil lol. I know it has lots of calories but its a healthy thing to have (obviously not a bunch) I cook with it and cover my meats with it before adding seasoning. -
Covid Positive
liveaboard15 replied to Journeyoflove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone at my hospital who has surgery is required to get a covid test a few days before surgery. If you test positive then the surgery is cancelled and rescheduled. idk what the policy is for yours but probably something similar. and you can test positive for covid for a month or 2. but I had covid in Febuary and my surgery was in April. Still tested positive but because of the amount of time that has passed i had my surgery. -
Pre-op diet query
liveaboard15 replied to IWant ToDelete MyProfile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
literally no big deal at all... A decent amount of people do worse on their pre op diet. Some berries are nothing to worry about. -
I just eat it straight like that lol

Best OTC Acid Blocker
liveaboard15 replied to Timberlynn Sleeved to DS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was prescribed pantoprazole for 30 days after surgery as well. They would not refill that script even tho i requested it. But i have not had any heart burn since tho a few weeks after surgery it was strong. My primary doctor gives me a script for Omeprazole. Which is available over the counter at any store but its much cheaper with a prescription. -
Portion sizes
liveaboard15 replied to Amanda Purser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
depends on how far apart you are spacing it. Sure i could. but it would take me like a half hour to eat one egg. Then i could eat another or so. but eat slowly and chew chew chew. Dont over do it since you are so fresh out of surgery. Most people are on liquids only for at least 2 weeks post op then they move to puree stage then to soft food stage. -
I can’t drink enough liquids
liveaboard15 replied to Mphthegreat's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Took me a week or two to be able to get the 64oz in and it was very hard. i am over 2 months post op and i struggle mainly with remembering to drink water. I get reminded when i go pee and its very yellow. When i see that i am like SHITTTT i need to drink some water lol -

Taking ibuprofen right after I check out from the hospital
liveaboard15 replied to Supafly82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
funny thing is after my surgery while in the hospital i was given celebrex a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory up until my discharge. After discharge i was prescribed Hydrocodone for pain tho it was not needed since the main pain was from the air in your chest which pain medication does nothing. my surgeon said that NSAIDS were not to be taken for gastric bypass people. and for sleeve people on a very limited amounts. -
15+ Years with the band - Sleeve revision scheduled - What do I need to know?
liveaboard15 replied to WillyC's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Foamies is more of a gastric bypass thing. I had sleeve 2 months ago. idk what restrictions you have on the band. but for us mainly small meal sizes... Protein is first and most important, waiting 30+ minutes after eating to drink anything. taking the multivitamins, calcium for life, and the possibility of developing severe GERD and needing a revision to bypass is a big thing and something i worry about. If you have GERD or heartburn then bypass will be what you need to get. -
Very nice and nice to see another guy on here lol. you seem to be having a much better time your first day than i did. It was rough for me. Glad to see you are doing great. Keep us updated!

Once per lifetime max on anthem bcbs
liveaboard15 replied to shiannajohnson's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You know i tried something similar. So weight loss surgery is excluded for me. So i spoke to the insurance to see if i was diagnosed with severe gerd, would they cover gastric bypass surgery since its basically a cure to it. They straight up told me no. I was like of course thats just my insurance. -
Net carbs are the carbohydrates in food that you can digest and use for energy. To calculate net carbs, take a food's total carbs and subtract: Fiber. Since our body doesn't have the enzymes to break down fiber, it passes through our digestion system unchanged. Lots of items i notice NET CARBS. One i eat currently are flour tortillas that have 4G net carbs. Lowest i could find.

Once per lifetime max on anthem bcbs
liveaboard15 replied to shiannajohnson's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Probably not going to get around that. I have thought about that too since my state excludes all bariatric surgery. and i am hoping i never have heart burn issues but if i ever needed a revision to bypass my plan would be to move to another state temporarily, Set up residency, Get insurance, Get the procedure done and move back. Yea lots of work but $20K+ for revision is too high for most people to pay out of pocket. I paid $19K for my sleeve out of pocket andi am out of money lol -
I am 2 months post op. and i drink 2-3 cups a day of my favorite which is Tim Hortons. (I work overnights) No issues whatsoever. I use Truvia for the sweetener and sugar free creamer.

Is there a Multivitamin and calcium citrate over the counter?
liveaboard15 replied to tdm7913's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
of course. Any store, Walmart, GNC ect... They do have bariatric vitamins but you can also get the regular stuff as well just simply take 2 or so. My surgeon said if i got the regular ones to take 2 a day. If i got the bariatric to take 1 a day. as for cacium there are tons out there. The citrate is best for absorption but the pills tend to be on the big size. -
Am I doing this right am I broken?
liveaboard15 replied to It'sAlbright's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
the first couple weeks are the hardest. you just had major surgery. Need to heel up. Like Doobie said. you wont be on liquids forever. But you gotta follow the steps to make this surgery a success. For me the first month was the roughest. Then it got much easier -
I paid out of pocket and the requirements were the same with or without insurance regarding the 35 BMI or higher with 2 issues or 40 bmi without issue.

Stall out and depressed
liveaboard15 replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Your profile says you have lost 91lb in 4-5 months. Consider that amazing. Most take longer to loose that. and stalls happen. I am 2 months post op and i have had 3 stalls. they can be depressing but you will get over it and loose again. as you start to get closer to your goal weight and get more months past your weight loss will slow down. just stick to the program and you will continue to loose some.
