  3. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary mrswal!

  4. Hi Jo I agree! It can be very nerve wracking to go from just reading forums to actually contributing. It can often feel like you've just walked up to a group of strangers and interrupted their conversation. I got your other message and will reply to that too. I'd be interested in getting a Goldfields (Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Kambalda, Cooglardie) Support Group together if there isn't one already. What do you think? Thanks for the info, it all helps get me ready for my big day. Cherie
  5. Okay, I need to ask some dumb questions... How long after the op can you get back to 'normal' husband/wife relations? If you wear jeans (or other non-elasticated) bottoms, do they push on the port? Can you feel the band or the port all day every day, or only the port and only if you're looking for it? I'm afraid I'm going to lean over a counter and snap the port or something! LOL Lellow .. way to go with the weight loss! 9kg already and only a couple of weeks.
  6. way to go roxy! thanks for your honesty, I hate being told I'm going to feel wonderful when I'm actually going to feel like crap. I'd rather know what's coming. 5kg down .. you're on your way! lellow, glad you're feeling great, I'm so looking forward to being able to ride a bike once I've lost some weight. Cheers guys!
  7. roxyrip, how did your op go?? 08/08/08 is supposed to be very lucky, so hopefully it was for you too. I'd be interested to know how you felt in the first couple of days so I know what to prepare for. appspaul, I am 147kg now so I feel an affinity with you. Did you have your op in 2007 or 2008? I have to see a Dr Bremner before I see Dr Watson because my BMI is over 50. He's a respiratory doctor and I have to do a breath test. Does anyone know what that is and what I have to do? Keep up the great work everyone .. you're keeping me very inspired!
  8. mss .. what does PB mean? I think, from what I've read, that I would prefer mine a bit looser, there's no need to make it any harder than it is, right? Where in Melbourne will you be living? I'm an expat Victorian from Warrnambool. Have a great day. Cherie
  9. Hey Lellow That would have been me!! Isn't that funny? How did your appointment go? I'm so excited. I got my referral yesterday and my doctor is happy that I chose Dr Watson. I called Kate again today and have my appointment at 10am on the 21/10 and then I'll be first on the surgery list on 22/10. I bought my first box of Optifast today and will keep adding to my stock until I need them. Can we also eat the Optifast dessert? I've made myself an Excel spreadsheet with monthly weigh-in dates, days since surgery, weight countdown in kgs and lbs and a BMI countdown. I've also prepared a powerpoint so that I can take a front and side photo on the monthly anniversary of my op so I can keep a record. Do you think I've overdone it?? LOL When I get to Perth I'll need to get public transport to get to my appointment from Mandurah, is it easy to get to? Cherie
  10. Hi again! Well alot has happened since my first post. I have a consult date and an operation date! I get my referral next week from my GP, consultation on 21/10 and op on 22/10. I am absolutely stoked! I spoke to Kate today, who's lovely, and she answered a couple of questions, but it all seems fairly straight forward. I think I'm going to be counting on you guys a lot in the coming months, I've even got myself a weight ticker! LOL Does anyone know of any accommodation/motels, etc. near the hospital? I do have one question for those who have had the band already. I've read that the amount you eat (once back on solids) is equivalent to an entree size, but then I've also read that it's 1/2 - 1 cup. Which one is more likely? Cherie
  11. Hi guys I've been looking into lapband surgery for ages and more intensely very recently. I was doing all kinds of Google searches last night and found this particular thread. I immediately sent an email to Dr Watson giving him a very detailed outline of me. I couldn't believe it when I got an email back this morning! I'm in Kalgoorlie and he has offered to have the appointment and do the op during the same time frame. I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on the short space of time between the consult and the op. You're all amazing and very inspiring.
