    A Little Lost

Just stopping by to encourage you! It is pretty darn cool you’re seeking to change back to Better habits. I pray you get all the courage, information & will power to get back on track. I’m not even 2 months out so I can’t offer advice on getting back on track after surgery but when I changed my habits prior to surgery it did seem daunting: I took it one day at a time one meal at a time, sometimes one hour at a time lol You got this though

    Slow Losers Club…..officially *sigh*

Thank you so much for sharing! I am 44 not quite 50 but it’s right around the corner. I used to lose fast as well in my 20’s & 30’s and part of mind was hoping that my body would reward me like that again….lol Good Luck to you and your continued successes. Even the lows it’s all a learning experience I’m quickly realizing.

    Sleeve with high BMI

I have to lose a lot as well, like 180lbs. I was and still kinda am thinking the same thing. Like how can I do this with the sleeve. The other poster said some truth about making the permanent sacrifices. That is what I am etching into my brain now. I’m 6 weeks out. My body needs to eat healthy to be at its best I’m finding out. So I have to explore various ways to eat healthy but delicious food and exercise. I’m going to incorporate self care days of massages, foot spas, meditation, journaling and other activities.

    What's Your Food Nemesis?

Wings!! Wings of any flavor, lemon pepper, Buffalo, barbecue. And even though I don’t like sweets, My moms recipe Peach Cobbler is still fighting me. If it’s near me I can’t resist. Thank goodness I can resist others though lol

Man I am so touched by your post. I feel it so deeply your pain & struggle with not knowing how this will turn out for you. I was literally thinking the same exact thing like why did I do this because I was never an overeater per se. Or so I thought but I could have been overeating based on my body’s needs or under nourishing it. This thread is great because it affirms what your going through has also been experienced by others. I want you encourage you today HE_thebrave to stay the course like the other posters said to us. I still don’t know what I will look like or feel a year from now or 10 years but I’m going to stay the course because what’s the alternative? What’s done is done lol we can’t reverse the surgery nor wound we want to right? We’re going to continue to live out the life we envisioned for ourselves and focus on doing the right things, feeling amazing and the small wins will give us joy along the way then we’ll add allllll those up and be like I don’t even know why I was stressing in the beginning lol 💪🏽💪🏽 We took an amazing step and added something to our toolbox and it’s just that unfortunately a really expensive name brand tool lol Please keep in touch and let me and us know how it goes for you.

    After Surgery Dislikes

Hey there! I’ve been lucky enough to like everything I ate (except for the bad stuff) before surgery. Great upside was I hate sweets after surgery. Cakes, pies, candy, just uuuugh too sweet. Fried foods I also have an aversion to. I like all of the protein shakes and a few new ones too. it’s funny about this ratio yogurt I just found it yesterday at Publix and I love it. It’s thick but not thick and layered with sugar alcohols like Oikos. I can’t stomach that. It’s not low in calories though so I’ll have to see how it fits into my plan.

Thanks for this Learn2cook. I’m going to YouTube chair & hatha yoga to get some more information on that. Weight lifting is definitely one of my interests. Wishing you the best on your long term weight management. I know it’s a lifetime change for all of us. Your screen name is cool. Is it related to cooking at all or any cool things you learned throughout your journey?

Thank you catwoman7. I didn’t know you were a slow loser as well. But I do remember your posts on your weight loss and definitely so proud of you. Thank you for confirming my concerns were valid. Did you remember doing anything particularly different when the stalls broke? Or your body just decided for you? I wish you continued long term success my dear.

Wowzers ! What another amazing story there are loads of surprises on this forum. Thank you so much for responding with your experiences. You’re a lot taller than me I’m about 5:7 on a good day. But our stats are definitely similar and it warms my heart to know you started out the same way. I would kill to be 169lbs. My God that is so ideal for me. Did you Start slow? And it actually kick started your weight loss by increasing your calories?? What does your diet consist mainly of? major claps for junior high weight! Haha that is a new one. I’m so excited for you and I pray to God I will be able to celebrate such wins at my surgiversary next year. Let’s keep in touch!

That is crazy! But oh so real. Thank you so much for validating me hat I was feeling. I definitely want to have a realistic, safe WL experience. It feels great to know that this is actually the norm nothing to see here lol I’m definitely going to give the scale a break and weigh in every couple weeks. Wonderful advice. I do FEEL amazing and I can tell in my clothes things are changing. And I also feel like my body is going to have frequent stalls. I guess it’s not something to try to avoid or dread just live in it as part of the journey and accept it for what it is knowing it will pass. Congratulations on your weight loss as well I do hope to lose 1/2 my excess weight by 7 months as well!

    Keeping up with liquids

I was lucky enough to like all the same protein drinks I liked ripe to sleeve surgery. Hot herbal tea was my friend. I only liked iced cold water it tasted amazing but I did have to sip all day. Your stomach will be more and more open to receiving more and more liquids as it Heals. You got a new stomach so just have to train it. Have something with you to drink all day long and experiment with the options. I also loved diluted no sugar added apple juice. Believe it won’t just be dehydration the constipation will drive you nuts.
  15. This is crazy! Your post is nothing like I’ve read on here haha I love it. You look amazing. I lost a lot of my weight on Keto when I was Yo-yo dieting but did not like the carb restrictions. I think I could do it again you’ve definitely given me something to think about. Congratulations on your long term success with the sleeve.

    40 down!

Congratulations!!! That is so amazing! You rocking this journey. I’m definitely jelly. I had my surgery 2/28, I was 290 on surgery day, I weighed 277 yesterday 😞 during preop I lost 42lbs guess my body is tired now lol good luck to you on your remaining journey.

    Lactose Intolerant

Lol yes you would be outcasted j/k No but I know that was a terrible feeling for you. I made tuna salad during my purée phase and my stomach was like no ma’am after just one bite lol But maybe you can try Lactaid. I drink that and I love it. Also after reading the wonderful experiences on here people develop the lactose intolerance temporarily and are able to reintroduce it later. Not sure where you fit in that but time will tell. I feel you on giving up on cheese it’s hard but it’s not the end of the world there are some great tasting alternatives out there you can try. Good luck 🍀

    Cravings

In addition to everyone else’s suggestions also be sure your taking all your vitamins. Sometimes calcium deficiencies Can give us salty cravings. But I think the hydration angle is a good start though and does the trick. Also preoccupying yourself to the your mind off of it.

6 Months Post Op (Before & After 📸)

🗣🗣Thank you soooo much for these pics! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Absolutely amazing. Congratulations on all that chile lol This gives me so much hope for the sacrifice I made. Im 10 days post op from VSG. Only 7 lbs down so far but I’m not really focused on the scale just healing. Did exercise also play a big role in your inches lost? For me I’m not one of those big losers just based on diet alone lol But I’m so interested in your story please keep us updated!

How many tacos one year out?

I wish I can weigh in in only 10 days post op But I did want to say I thought I was getting in more liquids post op than I should but now that I’m weighing everything I’m really not. Maybe weighting what you ate if you can eyeball it and recreate it to get a better idea of how much you actually ate? So nice knowing I might be able to eat tacos again! Lol
