    anyone from indiana?

Hi Mandy! I'm from Portage, IN, which is very close to Chicago. Have you had your surgery yet? Where did you have it done? I'm in the process of looking for a doctor and I really want to make sure I choose the right one.

    The Countdown has begun

From what I've read, I think that your friends will be more surprised at how little you're eating instead of what you're eating. Hopefully they'll just be supportive and not overbearing, like I'm sure my family will be. It's funny because I just brought up the surgery to my dad and he freaked out. He basically said that this wouldn't work for me because nothing else has, and I should just suck it up and stick with a diet. It's so easy for people who haven't had to battle with their weight to say things like that. I love my dad and I know he wants me to succeed, but I know he and my mom will be scrutinizing everything I put into my mouth. How has your family responded?
  5. Are you from Hammond, Indiana? I live in the region and am considering the Lap-Band surgery. Who was your doctor?

    The Countdown has begun

I completely feel your pain! I am still looking into the surgery, but the more I read on here, the better it looks. I think the surgery is what is going to scare me the most, mainly because I hate needles and such, but I'm so ready to lose the weight. Another thing that scares me is my family's obsession with food. Every time anyone has a party, there's a TON of food. This isn't a problem for most of my family because they can stop themselves, but I just can't. I tried Jenny Craig at one point and they asked me why I have weight issues and I told them it was because I love food and everything about it. The lady looked at me like I was nuts! The more I read on here, the more I think I'm not going to tell my friends and co-workers. I will tell my family and best friends, but no one else. A lot of people on here have told me that it's really none of anyone else's business how I lose the weight, which is a good point. "I started exercising more and cut back on the amount I eat." It's not a lie! I'm to the point where I need to find a doctor. How did you find yours?

    Looking for help

All of this information is really helpful! Also, how did you find your surgeon? I live close to Chicago, so I'd like to go to a doctor there, but I'm not sure how to start looking. Any suggestions?

    Looking for help

Hello! Last week I felt like I finally had enough of my weight and I'm looking into the LapBand surgery. I've tried different diets and I'll lose about 30 pounds, then gain it right back. I need to lose about 100 pounds and I'm tired of playing yo-yo with my weight, so I'm really looking into this as a permanent solution to my weight problems. I was hoping those of your who have had the surgery could answer some of my questions to help me make my decision. How did you feel right after the surgery? How do you feel now? What to do find is most difficult about living with the LapBand? How did your friends and family react to you having the surgery? How did they react after the surgery? Any answers anyone has would help me so much!! Thanks! :biggrin2:
