Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?
Jai D replied to armartin98's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That would be awesome to have a bariatric friend nearby. Yes, I was told to only weigh in on Fridays too, but I just want to see the scale budge. Patience is my enemy lol. I will try my best to stop checking daily. You can text me at 347-620-4969 if you like.. just mention who you are when texting. This is just an app number that I use since I would never put my real number on here. We got this! -

I also had my surgery with Dr. Sadek in NJ on Dec 17th. I’m very impressed with the outcome so far. How are you doing? I’m down 13.5 lbs from 241 to 228. I’m already at a 6 day stall at 228. Where are you in the area.. I’m looking for ppl to eventually walk with or be active. I’m in Woodbridge. -

You gotta “hook up” the chicken broth. Add some garlic or onion powder or both. Add a pinch of sea salt. A little salt helped me to not feel so weak in the clear liquid phase. Don’t just think you have to only drink the broth as it is straight from the packaging. Best of luck! -

Yes, I read there’s a term called snatiation for the sneezing. I thought I was getting a cold as I had a runny nose and back to back hard sneezes soon after surgery so I googled it and realized it’s a real thing (not a sickness.. thank goodness). 9 days post op and the sneezing has subsided. I lost about 13.5 lbs in the first 7 days. Now I gained back 1/2 lb so I’m down 13 lbs. I haven’t lost weight or gained in about 3 days. I’m not too worried because I was sleeping a lot and recovering from surgery plus I’m due for my TOM so I suspect just like b4 surgery my cycle will cause a stall and perhaps a slight water weight gain and then right after my cycle I will drop again. I’m def able to drink more now and very little sneezing so hopefully it goes away for you too. Now I just feel full just like b4 surgery, but with a smaller tummy. Best of luck! -

Almost 8 days post op and still feel tired. I think it’s just the body adjusting/recovering. Don’t over do it. Nap if you can. Hydrate as much as possible. Although there is no nutritional value in the pudding aside from some calcium, I’m noticing that it’s digesting the best in my case and is considered a full liquid, which just means it’s milk based. -

Try using Genepro. It’s the unflavored protein powder and can be added to anything. I add it to my protein shake but don’t just add the powder. First dissolve the powder in a small amount of room temp water then add to your protein shake. 1 scoop is 30 grams. I’ve been using 2 scoops plus the protein from the shake helps get your protein intake up there. Im noticing many surgeons give different instructions for the post op diet. I did days 1-3 on clear liquids, now I’m on full liquids (pudding, drinkable yogurt, jello, water, sugar free ice pops, broth, etc) , however I snuck in some ricotta with some drained picante sauce on day 7 post op and I handled it pretty well. My tummy felt different but so far nothing has made me sick. I’m so ready for real food like egg salad and an English muffin and I haven’t even technically hit purée phase. My purée phase allows smashed up chicken but 7 days later (day 21) I can go to soft foods. The ricotta cheese w/picante helped me to feel satisfied, not just full, which was a treat. -

Just had VSG surgery on Dec 17th. So far down 13.5 lbs in 1 week . Can’t wait to see the results of my journey! Good luck to everyone on here. I’m impressed with my progress and recovery so far. I had minimal pain/discomfort and practically no gas after surgery. #blessed
