I have only had one fill and I like the way my Dr. did it, he closed it off completely, had me drink some water until I felt it back up, then he took a little out and I could feel the water go down. After just one fill I have good restriction, I am even considering cancelling my upcoming appointment for the second. I wonder if your Dr. would consider doing it this way?

Hi and glad you're here! I'm sorry I'm not up to date on all the lingo..what does SAHM mean? I know what you mean about feeling people looking at you. Don't worry, you are taking steps so that won't last much longer and then they'll be looking at you because you look so GREAT! -Peggy

I have had one fill and my Dr. advised liquids for two days. Well I made it about half a day and said to myself "I feel fine, I can eat". So I did. I was very careful, took tiny bites and I was fine. I am scheduled for another fill on Oct. 3, I actually feel it is tight enough right now..I may postpone that appointment, but I'll wait a couple of days before the appointment and see how I feel.

I weighed more after the operation for a couple of days, I think it was all the I.V. I got. I could tell my face and hands were puffier. It eventually starting going down though. -

How supportive was your husband??
angelmarlee replied to LookingForMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on 7/10/08. The other night, after working from 8-5:30pm, I got home and my husband said "What's for dinner?" I said "I don't know, you'll have to fix somthing." Well after he asked me what was for dinner, and to make him somthing about three times, I finally went off on him too. We got in a big fight about it. Well he did fix himself a steak, burned the outside, still almost raw on the inside, filled the house with smoke and made the smoke detectors go off. Up until that point he had been very supportive but I guess he just had a weak moment. I told him not to even ask me to cook, I'm not going to unless I feel like it. If he asks me again, I am going to politely say no and walk away. -
Anyone from the WV/OH/KY Tri-State area?

Hi! Thanks for responding. My name is Peggy and I live in Milton, WV. I work in Huntington at the V.A. Hospital as a clerk in Xray. I got banded on 7-10 and am doing good. I used to live really close to Cabell Hospital, and my little grandson had a hernia repair operation there when he was a baby and they did a great job. The insurance companies take so long to approve the lap band, but it's worth it. It's really nice meeting you and write to me anytime too! Peggy -
The liquid diet is difficult alright. I just started pureed foods last night. I'll be so happy when I can eat regular food again.

I went to Holzer Clinic in Gallapolis, OH. I called the clinic in Jan. to ask them about having it done there and they asked me some initial questions over the phone and said I met the criteria to have it done. I had my first initial appointment Feb. 20, and from there it took until late June for the insurance company to give an approval. I got really discouraged too, and actually I was ready to give up on having it done at Holzer if I didn't get an approval by the end of the week that week and trying somewhere else to see if it would go through faster. My co-worker had it done at St. Mary's in Huntington, and her process went through really fast....we have the exact same insurance. I guess it just depends on a lot of factors, one case can go through smoothly and another takes forever. My advice is to keep calling the insurance company (every day) and also the Dr.'s office and ask them if they've heard anything yet; that's what I did. I know it's discouraging but hang in there, okay? Peggy

Hi! I just want to tell you not to give up. I waited over 4 months because the insurance company took so long. They kept saying they were not receiving all of the information they needed and my doctors office said they were sending it. But finally after it was approved, I got my appointment just two weeks after that. I just had my surgery on July 10. Just hang in there and keep calling and bugging them
