  1. Last week I had a serious sinus infection and spent most of my week coughing up nasty stuff...On Saturday night, I woke up to a mouth full of saliva and then the vomiting started. It's now Monday morning and I haven't been able to take in any solids and the liquids I do take in (coffee, Water, etc.) have all come back up. I cannot even lie down without having to get up and run to the bathroom because the saliva built up is overwhelming. In my research (online), it appears that my band might have slipped. Up until now, I've had no issues with my band. Anyone know what to expect when I go to the doctor? Will they have to take all the saline out? I am so hungry and light headed, it is ridiculous. I am very nervous that my previous illness has messed up my chances keeping this band in. Anyone else ever have this type of issue?

Some advice please (nice advise would be nice)

Hey Sassymama-I understand ALLLLL your feelings! LOL..My hubby took a whole week off to assist me and the day after the surgery, he went to go to McDs. Before I knew it, I had my daughter, my son and my hubby all grubbing on some juicy cheeseburgers and fries ANNND cokes while I was sipping chicken broth. LOL...I also went a little crazy and let me tell you..it was the last time they ate in front of me. After a few days, I was ok. Now, 3 weeks later, I can handle it...so just like everyone else has said..the feelings will pass for the most part BUT there will always be that part of you that will get angry. I get angry b/c I can't finish a whole meal in one sitting...I get mad b/c I can't have a big ole glass of Dr Pepper. LOL..but then I realize, those things put together put me over 320 pounds and borderline diabetic..so you know what? Everything happens for a reason and you WILL get through this. Sometimes it takes sacrifice to appreciate the struggle. Also, I quit smoking amonst all this too..so I definetly understand where you are coming from...PLUS I started college courses this month too. One day at a time and remember..you have the support of this website plus the support of your family. Don't ever try to overcome your issues without them. Good Luck and let me know how you are doing!

    Post-op check up:)

Congrats on your first fill! I was also banded on July 29th. I had my first follow up appt 2 weeks after surgery and have my first fill scheduled for Sept 4th. Before your first fill, did you notice the amount of food was alot more than you expected? As of right now, I still kinda get confused on when to stop. I know it takes me about an hour to eat but I just stop myself and wait. I don't know what type of feeling I am looking for b/c I don't get the "full" feeling...or the "satisfying full" feeling. You think that's normal? Maybe I will notice the difference after the first fill. I am excited to move forward with my lap band journey. I am currently at 22 pounds lost. I was at 26 lost but then gained a few pounds back after I got back on mushies-solids. It sucks but I refuse to give up...this is just the beginning. Good Luck!!
  5. I'm curious to see where everyone is on their eating stages. I was banded on 7/29/08 and are just about done with mushies..I'm pretty confident that soft foods are close but I just wanted to get a pulse check on others that were banded around the same time. How do you feel? What are you eating? If you are on mushies, what are you eating to stay full??:wink2:
  6. Thank you for your input! Wow, it's crazy how different most doctors are...I go back to mine on Thursday and I am hoping that he approves me for some soft foods!! I am also at a stand still with my weight but I hear that's pretty common since we are introducing somewhat solids back into our diet. Good Luck with the weight loss!!

I need someone to help me through this

Hi Leann! Welcome to LB talk...I am 28 years old, two kids and just got banded on 7/29/08..I actually lived in Maryland for 5 years. We lived in Hagerstown and I worked in Frederick. We miss it up there! If you have any questions always feel free to ask them. I had a heck of a time getting approval from insurance and stuff..but once the ball got rolling, the surgery came quick. Take care and we'll talk to you soon! Nicole
  8. Hello Again! Ok, so I am 8 days post op and have been having trouble staying full. **The first post I put up expressing my issue with hunger pains, I found out that my sugar intake would have alot to do with it...so I cut out the sugar..that worked for a day **The second post I put expressing my hunger issue again...I was advised to stick with the cream Soups and just drink more Water and other liquids. Did that and it worked for a day NOW...today, I felt like I was eating alllllll day!! By the time I would finish one thing..I would be good for an hour and then be starving again! So I looked through my Lap band paperwork and found my guide. It said Phase 1 will last for "ABOUT" 2 weeks. It said to listen to my body and if I am able to intake more with no issues...then it was time to advance to Phase 2-Mushies.... So I had some egg salad tonight and had about 3 tea spoons..slowly (took me about 25 minutes to eat it) and NOW I AM GOOD..I feel ok, I don't feel hungry and it's been about 2 hours...My question is..What am I listening for in my body?? How do I know if I've taken too much or if I am doing damage? I'm confused now. :confused2:

    Itching!!! Arrgghh!! lol

Wow! I thought I was the only one going crazy by itching! It's sooo hard! haha...My stitches are finally almost healed but the area around my incisions are now itching...Grrrr! LOL..Good luck with that...Just remember there are other itching bandsters here for your support!!
  10. Thanks so much for all the posts! Looking at some of the posts, I can relate to the hiccups while eating and a couple of other indicators. I am mushies now..and doing well. Trying to stick to 3 meals now is crazy but I take it day by day. Today I did feel a little light headed...one thing that makes me upset is not knowing how good or bad of a day I will have. Someone please tell me that is temporary?!?!?
  11. Thanks ladies! Ok, so I will stay away from the egg salad..what do you suggest **mushies** wise...What are your faves?
  12. Hello All- I had surgery 7/29..today was my first day at work ( 6 days post op) and I went prepared. Had 4 oz of slim fast for Breakfast, 1/2 Jello mid morning, about 24 oz of Water through out the day, 6 oz of cream of broccoli (blended and strained) and then a popsicle...When I a finish eating this stuff I am full but an hour or two hours later, I AM STILL STARVING! What am I doing wrong?? :confused2: My boss-who had gastric bypass 5 years ago...told me that I may be ready for phase 2 (mushies). I DO NOT want hurt myself by starting on mushies too early so I will stick with my liquids. Another concern is that I am losing 2 pounds a day..that can't be normal, right? Am I not drinking or eating enough? What am I doing wrong? Please help.
  13. Thanks Sue! I will try that! Bout to go warm me up some soup right now...Thanks again!
  14. Ok, so it's been 48 hours since my banding..today, I graduated to Tomato soup and I was so excited...but right now, my stomach is growling and I feel like I have something stuck in my chest...Can I already be feeling restriction with liquids? Do you think the Tomato soup is too thick? How do I get rid of the feeling? I feel the gas pains all over and have taken Mylanta but if the tomato soup isn't going down how is anything else? Am I gonna have to vomit to get it up or will everything eventually go down? I'm miserable...please help!
  15. Thanks for the posts...I'm gonna walk it off. Youre right Tiffanie, it's a different feeling when your stomach growls. haha..hope I can get all this food down soon..I'm tired and I know I won't sleep like this. Walking here I go!! Thanks again!
  16. Ok-so I got banded on July 29th and I got released the same day. I was a little upset that my own surgeon didn't even come see me before I got discharged. Anyways, I get home and have followed the instructions that were given by my surgeon's office. Here are my questions...I've been drinking chicken broth, water and had a sugar free jello. When is it good for me to have my tomato soup? or cream of soups? Also, regarding my incisions...The doc said I can remove the gauze after 24 hours but keep the "stickies" (sticky tape) that are on my stitches. So, does that mean I have to replace the gauze? Can I take a shower like regular but just be careful about touching my incisions? I feel icky and want to shower but I don't know if it will harm my incisions if I get soap and water on them...they book said the tape can get wet so I think it will be ok. Also, the soreness...I know I just had surgery and there is going to be soreness but I feel myself crunched over all the time. When I stretch back up I feel the pain more..its not unbearable but I want to know, am I hurting myself by staying hunched over or should I try to straighten up as much as possible. What are bad look out signs that I should be watching?? Thanks for reading! I'm new to all this and want to make sure I don't goof it up...:biggrin2:
  17. Thank you to all who have replied..it helps alot!! I appreciate it! I think I am going to call my Drs office to find out if I actually have stitches or glue..cause to be honest, I don't know. I don't know if I even have a follow up appointment but I am gonna check! Thanks again!
  18. Well hello all! I got banded today. We were at the hospital at 5:30am with a surgery time of 7:30am. Everything went so fast but I was calm. Didnt remember a thing which was great! Got discharged at 12:30pm and home by 1:00pm. I am in a little pain but thought it was the gas bubbles. Took some mylanta but there still there. That can be expected right? The pain is obviously where they cut and stitched me up. I know I am probably being paranoid but I don't want to be too casual about it. Can anyone tell me of signs to look for (bad things)? Good Luck to anyone who is still waiting to get banded!! It is worth it...New World, HERE I COME!
  19. Magnesium Citrate is great! I had to take it b/c of the issues I've had in the past with my colon..Gross, I know! BUT if there is any lesson I have learned..it is...DO NOT DRINK IT BY ITSELF..Dilute it! I drank it straight one time and let me tell you...I was hurting for days! Good luck with everything!!
  20. Hello All! I have 13 hours to go until surgery and I feel exactly the same! Little nervous but more anxious. We are all here for ya! Keep calm and relax...your "re-birth day" is almost here! Enjoy!!!
  21. OK-So I have 7 days left until my surgery date and I am sooo mad at myself!:cursing: I just can't get it together! My pre-op diet isn't even as hard as everyone elses...I can have meats! I am on a low carb high Protein diet and although most days have been good..today was a FLOP! After eating my dinner-steak and green Beans...I began having a HUGE "sweet tooth"...typically I can have some fruit or a diet dr pepper and be good.. Soooo, I had both and it didn't work so guess what I did....:sneaky: i went to Mcds...I know I shouldnt have but the sweet tooth turned into a craving for sweets and a cig!!! I dont know what happened..next thing i know i am at the drive thru ordering a small vanilla shake and 2 apple pies (2 for $1)....AND THEN they tell me that they don't have apple pies.... So I tell them to give me my money back...AND THEN the shake was nasty!! SO I got my money back from that...haha..(I think God was trying to help me) BUT I didnt listen..next thing I know I pick up a package of m&m Cookies and eat like 5. Now, I feel bloated..full..disgusting and just plain horrible. :cursing:I AM SOOO MAD at myself..I feel weak and don't know what to do... So, with everything said....Did I just ruin myself for the surgery that is supposed to change the rest of my life ( in 6 days) !!!
  22. My case went through Humana too...it took me 7 days to get a reply..they are pretty quick. Mine got denied up front so I had to file an appeal. The appeals process took only two weeks. GOOD LUCK!!! KEEP THE FAITH!!!

So just be patient!
