    New here just curious

I was just curious about the cost because the baritric drinkis are so much more expensive then the average protein drink. I definantly feel a difference if I don't take my vitamins, I think I am currently to tight and not getting enough nutrition and that may be why I feel such a difference with an without vitamins. I get b vitamin shots three times a week which really make me feel great.

I would be interested to see the cost difference for the two types of vitamins. My doctor also instructed me to take calcium and fish oil daily.

I take the flinstones. If you look on the back they actually say adults and children take 1 daily.

    Need Advice

I had my first fill Friday, My doctor originally put in 3cc's but I couldn't even swollow, he took all of it out and started again slowly till he got up to 1.5. Since then I can't eat anything. The next morning even drinking water hurt. It doesn't hurt to swollow any more, but as soon as it reaches the base of my neck it hurts like something is stuck. I PB and usually feel better, yesterday and today I actually threw up from my stomach. Both times it was pretty much dry heaving until I had a really big burp and then I felt better. I talked to my surgeon and he said some people have a harder time adjusting to fills and everything was normal and to go onto liquids for the next ten days. I guess I'm just worried I have a slipped band or something. Up until my fill I was to the point where I could eat comfortably except in the morning which has always been somewhat difficult for me. Since Friday I haven't been able to eat even enough to get full, so I don't even know how restriction fills. I'm super nervous I have a damaged band, I kinda have always worried a little too much, I guess I'm just hoping for some similar experiences.

    Need Advice

Thanks for the reply's. In all honesty now that I look back I feel like I should have had a little more taken out, it's just so scary between that point where you can start eating again and a fill. I didn't loose for three weeks straight so I was super ready for a fill. Thanks again for the advice, back to the shakes! :tt1:
  7. I was banded 08/15, got my first fill today. Started with 3cc, but I started throwing up so they took it down to 1.5cc's. Good news was it didn't hurt at all.

    Recovery Question

I had surgery n Friday and went back on Monday. I drive 50 miles one way, sitting and driving for so long made me very sore. I have a desk job and sitting all day was very uncomfortable, without pain meds. If you can give yourself an extra day or so. I felt really tired and drained until about a week post-op. Good Luck.

    It hurts to eat/drink

Thank you guys so much, I feel so better, Hope everyone has a nice long weekend. Angie
  10. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today. I was told I could have soft food such as cottage cheese and soft foods od that consistency. Everytime I eat it hurts, it goes down fine, but I feel a pain in my side which I assume is my band and in the center of my chest. I was wondering if anyone esle is experiencing this as well. It was very painful for me to burp at first, but that has gotten better and better, but this pain is very similar. I'm not sure if I am just pushing it and I need more healing time or if I should be calling my doctor. Any advice is very much appreciated Angie

    It hurts to eat/drink

I had been feeling pretty good until Wednseday I had about 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese. I was pretty busy at work and I think I ate too fast. I felt pretty uncomfortable after that and it really hasn't went away. I have always had some discomfort with cold liquids, I was hoping to have a nice warm cup of tea and that would help, but it didn't. I'm just worried about the complications that can occur. I'm gonna drink a bunch of water and see how it goes. Also I have heard people say that they swell during their cycle which I am coming up on, so maybe I'm just overly worried. Thanks for the reply. I go back to the doc on the 3rd, so I will be able to talk to him then.

    Hi

Hi, thanks for the invite to join the board. I was banded August 15th, in San Diego CA by Dr. Kahlil. Things are going well. I am currently on liquids, but I am allowed to eat soft things like cottage cheese. It still kinda hurts to eat, so I'm trying to take it slow. Looking forward to restriction.

    Tell Us About You!

Hi My Name is Angie I am 32 years old, I live in a rural area of San Diego. I have one 11 year old daughter, she started 7th grade today. I do accounting for a living. I am married to my high school sweetheart, him and my daughter are both thin and gourgeous. My husband can eat as much of whatever he wants and looks like he just walked out of a gym. I have been overweight since preganancy. I have also tried just about everything available to llose weight. I have no problem losing, keeping it off has always been the problem. I am hoping this is the final long term solution to my up and down battle.

    Hi

Oh up until a few days ago I also would have said I didn't like cottage cheese LOL!
  16. I was banded on the 15th and has almost all those symptoms. I have five incisions the largest is probably 2 inches. I also have the glue. I had some pretty significant brusing, but it did not grow in size. Over the weekend the bruising completely went away, so it took a little over a week. I have very fair skin and bruise easily, so thay looked pretty nasty. I still can not take a full breath without discomfort. It is worse after eating something. I went back to work way to soon, I have to sit all day, and that made my pain at my incisions terrible, maybe that's what is happening to you. I would definantly insist on seeing someone. Hang in there it gets better day by day.
  17. Hi I ws banded on Friday the 15th, one week ago today. I had the gas pain in my shoulder very bad for the whole week. It has started to go away, but everytime I feel like I have to burp it hurts really bad coming up. Has anyone had this problem or should I call my surgeon? Thanks

    Post op question

They did tell me about the gas-x, it's not so much the gas pain I am concerned about, it's how much it hurts to burp. I can swollow fine, but when I burp or try to, it is painful coming up. It's almost like right after surgery how it hurt to swollow.
  19. Hi Everyone- I will be having my surgery this coming Friday with Dr. Kahlil in San Diego. The last weeks have been very exciting, but now the excitement is turning into nerves. I started my protein shakes this weekend, my doctor recommended the shakes from costco, they are o.k. If anyone has any recommendations for preperations I could make prior to Friday I would really appreciate it. I live in a very rural area and have an hour drive to the nearest grocery store so I'm hoping to be prepared prior to Friday. Thanks so much for any help. Thanks Angie

    Hi

My name is Angie, I just turned 32 years old. I am married with one daughter. I am hoping to have lap band surgery in August at UCSD in San Diego. I'm a little worried, so I'm hoping I can get some realistic views of how I am going to feel. I have never had surgery, I guess it's the pain I'm most scared of. Although I need to loose around 75 pounds my insurance doesn't feel it's medically necassary so I am having to pay out of pocket. I just want to make sure I am making the right choice for myself considering it is such a large amount of money. I have struggled with my weight for about 10 years, I can loose weight, I just can never keep it off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Angie:redface:

    Hi

Thanks again so much. I have done tons of research, but nothing compares to having the opinions and advice of someone who has been there. I appreciate all of the input.

    Hi

Thanks so much. I realize it takes work and I am definantly at the point in my life where I am willing to make some major changes. My boss had the gastric bypass and has slowly regained the weight, so I realize nothing is magic. I try very hard and eat healthy and stay active. Both sides of my family have weight issues, the women on my fathers side are all very large, probably all over 400 pounds. My mothers side is not as extreme with exception of my sister who I would guess is probably in between 400 and 500 pounds. I have an 11 year old daughter who I would like to be able to grow up without these same issues, I just don't have the tools to teach her how to eat normally.
