About Me

I've always been the "big girl" ever since I was little. I was always nearly a foot taller (though this would equalize around high school) and fairly stocky. My parents kept me pretty active though when I was younger (softball & basketball) so I was never "FAT" but I nonetheless could never shop in the same stores as all the other girls.

Fast forward to my 20's and 30's, no longer playing sports actively the weight began to pack on. A few years ago I had traumatic accident with my ankle that required 3 surgeries and nearly a year and a half of recovery and EXCRUCIATING pain (honestly it made my VSG laughable in comparison). Shortly thereafter I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) which made meaningful movement even more difficult. I was taking nearly 2,000 mg of NSAID a day just to combat the pain/stiffness. Of course this did nothing to help my ability to exercise so the weight kept piling on, I developed Sleep Apnea and all the little tasks that use to be easy became so much more difficult in my obese body. Living in constant pain and discomfort and fearful of developing more co-morbidities I finally decided the summer of 2021 that I was going to get everything together to make my surgery happen (instead of just thinking about like I had done for nearly two years)

I was sleeved on December 08, 2021. I don't regret it for a moment. Even though I know have many challenges on the road ahead I truly feel like having weight loss surgery gave me the tools to reset my body and create a plan to execute a healthy lifestyle moving forward.
