Day 4: In 2010 my band was replaced due to a slippage. I found it very hard to get back on track and did not feel that the band was working for me. After 12 months of fills and unfills, weight gain, reflux and the anxiety of missing food, I went to a new surgeon. My orginal Surgeon retired. The reason I was going through this was my band had slipped again. The surgery showed lots of adhesions and my organs were enlarged. My new surgeon removed my band and I had to wait 3 months before I could get a new one. Now with a new band in I am now starting the weight loss journey again. Wish me luck I now have 17kg to lose and feel a little lost and unsure. Getting use to fluids is very hard. Will keep you posted.

7 weeks - Not doing so well with the weight loss, have only lost 2 kgs. I am looking forward to having my fill on Tuesday. Hoping this will curb my hunger. I do not think I have ever been this hungy before. (must have been at one stage) Thanks for the support, hopefully I will log on in the next few weeks lighter.

Day 12; This is hard, I am not sure if I have rose coloured glasses on last time but I am sure that the liquid diet I was on was not that bad. I have been having Soup that can come through a straw BUT am so hungry. The Fluid is going straight through me and I am always looking for something to eat. I know that I can not have a fill for a few more weeks but really need the feeling of being full. I am so looking forward to starting the baby food stage. I have lost 2.5 kilogram. 14.5 kilograms to go. Going to start walking tomorrow. A group of us are using half our lunch time for walking, so for 15 minutes we are doing a brief fast walk to get ourselves up and about. Have the doctors appointment on 6th September which will be day 19. hopefully will have lost 4 kilograms by then. Keep you posted.

Ok Day 6: Full of energy, no pain and feel like I have not even had surgery. I am finding that I am hungry and the liquid diet is hard to keep up. I really now wonder how I did this at the start. Have not weighed myself but will on Thursday as this is then 1 week. Will keep you all up to date. Can not wait to start the soft food diet.

Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
vez replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Love my band but since the replacement due to slippage I am having trouble getting back on the healthy eating plan. Having some freedom for a few months has made me realise how much i miss some types of food. Did anyone else have trouble getting back on tracj??? -

Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
vez replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i have had my band for 6.5 years and have not had any problems. This week i have been diagnosed with a slippage and this is the first time i can say i have ever had a problem. Time for a new band. -
Hi all I am from Brisbane too. glad to know there is some support out there

Just wondering why you have the tube shortened? My port now sticks out and looks like I have a small cushion under my shirt. It also hurts and the area gets sore from thing pressing on it or rubbing. Have you heard of anything like this before?

I hardly eat meat, and was taking an iron supplement as well as eating healthy food. My iron level has drop to 3 and now am on iron injections, appartently this is common for people with banding to have low iron. (maybe not as low as mine) I strongly suggest taking you iron supplement and eating high iron food. Still after 5 years I would not remove my band.

I had my tummy tuck done when I reached goal, I have to say it is the best thing I could have done. It made me feel so much better in myself.

UUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! Non supportive family
vez replied to pstroud100's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She is more than likely worried about the risk of surgery. Your family is concerned for you. My family were very concerned at first. NOw there are the biggest supporters. I have had my band for 5 years now. Give them time and show them how much it has helped you. -
I have diet coke everyday, but i do let it sit there for awhile to lose some of the fizz. My Dr said it was ok and i would know if i could cope with it but some of my other friends that had it done said their dr said no. So not sure if it is ok to have or not. i just can not have it near bed time because of reflux.

All the best, it will change your life for the better.

I plan my meals and eat 5 meals a day very small amount. I try to be good but not all the time you can be. Things that are bad for you do not make you feel full example chocolate and ice cream meal and go through the band meaning your hungry quicker. I would strongly recommend it and would not be without it. Change you habits too I would eat while on the computer (crap) now i do not have food near the computer and when i think i need something I first have a glass of water. For me I was eating with activites so I changed how I do my activities -
What does it feel like to be "stuck"?
vez replied to amonroy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got stuck at a family dinner on a desert sppon size dim sim from not shewing correctly. Too busy talking. Knew something was not right went ofr 30 minute walk then went to bed. The next day tried to have a cup of tea and could not get it down. Was so sick, finally got it out but will never let that happen again. I have only had one thing stuck. Tip bite, chew, stop, bite, chew, stop. Thought I was going to die on the toilet like Elvis -

I was in 2 minds also. At first I only told my family, but at work we always had morning teas, lunch out and afternoon tea. I wanted them to stop asking me to eat cakes and things. I also did not want them to think becasue I said no to going out for lunch that it was not a personal reason. Some people thought at first, that is why I stopped going to lunch with them. So after much debate I told them. I was very surprised at the help i got. No one pressure me to eat, and they all started bringing healthy things to work. They even offer to walk with me at lunch. I wish I told them from the start it would have saved me from hiddening and thinking up excuses for not going out and eating the food.
