  1. Hi Andrea sorry haven't been around. WOW 60lbs very very encouraging!! I just submitted my paperwork Dec. 22 but the nurse said not to expect to hear anything before jan. 7th. How did you do thru x-mas? I'm getting crazy waiting but my mom sister and aunt surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas and we leave Jan. 15th they called my last hoorah for the time being. Thanks for keeping me posted!

  3. Hi Andrea. I work at Nadine Janet Salon and Spa in Medford. I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm shooting for Jan. Lapband with Dr. Goldstein. I belong to New Beginnings which has support group 2'xs a week I love it!! Anytime you want to talk just let me know. What kind of surgery did you have and when? Are you feeling ok? Hope to talk to you soon. Kim

    eeek! a trainer!

Always remember to listen to your body. I love working out with weights and my trainer pushes me to the point where I'm dripping sweat and shakey but if it is hurting something that it's not suppose to I tell him and he modifies.
  7. I'm pre-surgery but when I took fiber it constipated me and I did drink alot of water so I feel your pain. Stool softer and I drink warm lemon water in the morning (learned that at Diet Center years ago).
  8. I just started my 3 month diet for my insurance and a support group "New Beginnings" I have to journel and my nurse will be checking it. I only have to lose 10lbs. before surgery but they said the more I lose the better for me my surgery will be so I'm giving it my best shot. But up until now yeah I ate like I was going to the chair.

    Lapband surgery vs GBPS

I know people that have had bypass and not only did they gain their weight back but now their insides are rerouted, they are vitamin deficient and they are heavy again. OIY! No brainer for me LB it will be.

    Hello

When I first started researching the LB I was petrified. I first started June 24th. I have learned so much on this site and talked to people who have had it. I start my support groups Sept.22 (nutritionist etc.). Now I am so excited I can't wait for this to happen!! I think you just need to learn as much as you can and talk to people dr. etc. about any questions you have. You'll be fine. Good Luck!!
  11. You don't even have to see a nutritionist? I start mine Sept. 22. I have so many questions on how to work this band. I do learn a lot on here but I definitely have specific questions. I just want to get maximum results from this tool. Do you know everything food wise your suppose to do? Just curious.
  12. Like you I'm very open about it and most people who know me know I've tried evertything. I'm 41 yrs old and things are starting to hurt because of my weight. I don't care what anyone says negative I'm so excited about my decision I tune them out. You just stay excited! Theres always going to be someone negative out there F... em!!

    goal weight

I am so with you Jachut!! I am 5'8" and 281 (not banded yet) and my best GF is trying to tell me being 200lbs. is not a bad weight for me. Get real yes I don't look bad at that weight and can get into a size 12-14 (I have always excercised and had a tummy tuck 5 yrs ago it helps) BUT that is way too much weight for my 5'8" frame I would love to be like you and be 154!!!! By the way you look FABULOUS!

    just beginning

I meant I'm still going through the process of testing and getting approved. I just like to see how people like the band because I'm excited and nervous about doing it. I had a client (I'm a hairstylist) who had it done and she lost 60lbs. in 2 years. She was getting frustrated but she wasn't following the rules (she thought it was suppose to be magic not a tool). I hadn't seen her for 3 mos. and she's down 95lbs.(35 lbs. in 3 mos.) in all. She said she just got serious got a fill and starting using it like it was meant to be used. You really have to have self control it sounds like OIY!!!!

    Dr. Goldstein in NJ

I noticed you used Dr. Goldstein how is he? I have an appt. 9/2. I would love to know your experience
  21. Kimmie I've been using that Wen Shampoo and I love it too!! I'm a hairdresser and my hair was a little over processed and this has done the trick.

Day 7 on pre op---day before my surgery

How long from the day your insurance approved you did you get a date?
  23. Puju10

How do you make it work

Hi akatjon. I too am in the process of being approved and like you I have been battling this food thing every day. One thing I did notice from what most people say is its just a tool to help you make the right choices so I am in the process of trying to get my head in the right place and reevaluate my relationship with food. I know it sounds corny and crazy but just going on these sites are helping me understand exactly what I should expect and what I will be going through and its making me more excited about the challenge and the outcome of my future.
  24. Aare there any Hairstylist in their 40's that had Lap Band Surgery? If so how long was you recuperation time? How much do you work and how long is your day? I'm curious. Is it working for you?
  25. I live in NJ and am going through a program called "New Beginnings" before surgery(its a requirement if I use this specific Doctor). I can't start until my evaluation but you meet with a nutritionist therapist and theres support groups I am very excited!!
