Hi Junebies I was banded on June 19th. I've had one fill, am due for my next one. I have lost about 27lbs. But that was all before my first fill! I have a 10cc band, with 3.75cc. At my fill my Dr tried 4.25cc, but I thought it was too tight (I think that was a mistake!). I rarely even feel like I have a band. Except for trouble swallowing sometimes, what is that all about?? I suppose I am not as hungry, but I think I can still eat way too much. I have not had any trouble yet (PB or sliming, etc..). But I have one issue which is beginning to freak me out! This may be TMI, but I have awfully loose BMs. I guess I'd say diarreah. But it's not like I have to run to the bathroom all the time, just at my morning 'time', LOL! Sorry! What is my problem? Of course I will ask my Dr at my fill on Tuesday, but any opinions?? I sure hope to begin losing again after Tuesday, this is a bit disappointing... Thanks for any replies!

1 week banded and I think I messed up my port!
time4change posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, :help: I was banded on 6/19. The other night I was sitting on the couch and then used my elbow to hoist and shift myself, and I must have twisted the wrong way because, OUCH! my port spot caught on fire! It was very painful, I almost thought I had ripped the incision open, but no. I 'think' my post was kinda below the incision, but now it seems to be above it. Could I have moved it? Could I have flipped it? Crap. My Dr is out of town this week, but I will call as soon as he's back. But you all probably have some ideas on this...I hope?? What do you think? DH think 'maybe' I tore some of the new tissue adhering to it, but nothing bad happened. But man, it hurt! Should I be worried? Thanks for any replies! -
How Do You Take Medications?
time4change replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've been banded a week, and just bite my pills a few times to crush them, with a swig of crystal light. It's not fun, but it works fine! -
How many calories should we be eating a day?

I want to thank you all for posting your experiences! I am due to report to the surgicenter at 6:30am tomorrow. I am ready, just starting to feel nervous a bit, a few flashes of 'what the heck have I gotten myself into?!?!' LOL! I'll share my experience in a few days! Good Luck to all...

Alexandra, you wrote... "It is never a matter of 5 lbs or 1 BMI point that keeps medical necessity from being established. People just don't get declined for this sort of reason if they truly need the surgery." I feel I do need the surgery. I have no comorbidities. The first time I submitted my claim to insurance I was 39 BMI. I was denied. A short time later, I was 40.5 BMI and appealed. The denial was reversed and I got approval. I still have no comorbidities. But I feel truly certain that diabetes is coming for me, if I don't do this.

A few qu? Hernia, little kids, magnesium citrate...
time4change posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi~ I have a few questions for everyone.... Does / did anyone else have a hernia that was / will be repaired during band placement? Does anyone else have young kids? What did you tell them? Particularly 6 year old girls? Does everyone have to drink the magnesium citrate drink the night before? Thanks! -

Thank you for your replies! I guess the hernia is nothing to worry about. Fiveholts, I think I will follow your lead and be upfront with her. And stress that she needs to be careful and eat healthy and be active to avoid following my footsteps. I also have two 3 year olds, but I don't feel the need to explain to them, LOL! Really, no one needed to drink that stuff? I wonder why they want me to... -

Anyone w/PVC's or other "benign" cardiac arrhythmias?
time4change replied to Momotrips's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi momoftrips (like your name!) I have no useful info for you, but I had these for a few months, back a few years ago, but they disappeared when I delivered my BBB How old are yours? -
Hi everyone! Please sign me up for June, my date is the 19th I have been working toward this since March. I had my nutrition consult, psych consult, support group meeting, pulmonary consult, cardio consult (discovered a murmur, but still OK for banding) and blood tests. I will have my endoscopy tomorrow, I do not need to do any wierd drinks though, just not eat or drink for 6 hours. I will have an abdominal ultrasound on Sunday, hospital preadmission testing, band doc meeting, and support group on Tuesday. Then get final clearance from my primary care physician on Thursday. Doesn't that sound like ALOT?? Sheesh! :straight I will try to do low carb this week, then really low carb (fat flush plan) 1 week prior. I was denied once, then appeal and was quickly approved. I am sooooo ready! Congratulations to all of you already banded! Good Luck to those of us coming up soon!

Wow, what an amazing victory! Congratulations! -
Hi, I am hoping to join your May group, just waiting on word from my insurance co. I have done a nutrition consult, psych consult, blood work, attended a information and support meeting, and had my PCP, gyno and podiatrist send in letters. I need to see if my insurance, Oxford Liberty, will approve (I am on the border). Then, I'll set my date, do the upper GI, cardio and abdominal sono. Think I can still make it for May? I sure hope so, so I'll linger here with you all! And Linda, that sounds sounds yummy! Congratulations to all who've taken the plunge :clap2:

Because I just went to grab a few do-si-do's before sitting down to type this! :phanvan I was always a bit chunky as a kid, wearing size 14-16 by the end of high school. At 5'10", I was about 180 for my wedding. After a few years of marriage, I was close to 200. Then began my struggle with infertility. Three years worth of hormones and other ovarian stimulants, I was about 225 when I finally got pregnant. After a few years more, I could not get my weight under 235, and I did another IVF cycle. Got pregnant with triplets. To feed my flock during pregnancy, I was encouraged to eat alot. So, of course, I did! How nice to eat without guilt!! LOL! Well, after that pregnancy, I have not been under 245, and am currently..... 260. :omg: I am sick and tired of always dieting. And never losing more than a few pounds, then gaining it back. I cringe at the thought of living the rest of my life this, guilty, embarassed, ashamed, stressed and depressed. So, if I can get insurance approval, I am going for it! Jen

thinking about doing it, questions...
time4change posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello! I have been poking around this site for a few days, great info here! I am really really thinking hard about this. I am really ready to be free of hating my body. I do not want to waste any more of my life being consumed with shame, struggle and depression. I have tried many diets, but not any 'Dr supervised'. My BMI is 36 (I think). I am 5'9" (I swear I was 5'10" until this past summer!!), 250lbs. I am 35. I've had 4 kids. I have no comorbidities, but do have tons of aches and pains every day. My feet and ankles hurt, my hips hurt, my back hurts. And I am infertile, used IVF for my kids. I know my insurance wont pay. I have also already had breast reduction and full tummy tuck surgery, I had awful damage from pregnancy, and my breasts have always been way too big, causing lots of pain. They're still big, but I dont have to curse them daily anymore. I have always had a fairly normal belly, the tuck removed stretched skin and repaired hernias from carrying so many babies. My lower body is the biggest problem. I know there's alot of work involved, I'm ready for it. I know I will hhave to eat carefully, healthily, that a band is not the cure-all. I want to find a Dr in NY, not sure if I want to go to Mexico. Jen
