    Hello from Oregon

Futureshrink~ Congrats on your band. I am also from Oregon and had my band on Aug 5. This is a great place to find support! Make sure you read the posts and ask questions. It is inevitable that somebody else is experiencing the same things that you are and can offer advice. I hope you are feeling better!

    I'm the burpy monster!

It must be a band thing. I burp all the time now, I can't help it. When I eat, I always burp afterwards. I try not to get in air, but I must, because it is bad sometimes. Drinking doesn't seem to do it like the food!

    Post Op Hunger

I have to say, this past month has been the first time in a really long time that I have felt actual hunger. I am always surprised to hear my tummy rumble and roll! I have made a point of waiting to feel some hunger before I try to eat. The head hunger is what gets me! You will get through the liquid stage, it is tough, especially if you were doing a liquid diet before surgery. Just stick with it and you will move to mushies and then soft textures, quick enough. Make sure you are getting some Protein in, that will help with the hunger. The New Whey bullets are good as well as the unjury unflavored Protein Powder. Hang tough, remember that this is a short part of this journey and you will be eating soon enough - right now you don't have to make too many choices, so it is easy to stay on track! Good Luck!

    I'm back & banded!!!

Glad to hear that both of you are home and doing well. It should be helpful to both be going through the same experience. I agree about the animal intuition. It is amazing, I have 4 Jack Russell Terriers, calm is not the norm at our house. But the dogs have been really good, no jumping or landing on the belly. They have been very respectful and careful about snuggling and curling up in the chair with me. They are very smart!
  5. Wow, it has almost been a full month for some of us and now it is time to venture out into the real world of food again. Great to hear how well your lunch went. It is nice to see how people are handling these real world situations. It is great that you like fish - I can't stomach it. I am hoping my taste will change with the surgery, I've heard that does happen. Great NSV! Keep up the good work!

    Still hungry and no restrictions

Momto5~ I go in for my fill on Sept 3rd. I will let you know how it goes! I hope I have more restriction - I have been hungry and that is not good for my. I have been using all my will power not to cave in and just eat!
  7. Claudine~ Thanks for letting us know how it went. I go in on Wed to get my first fill. I can't wait for some restriction, I don't feel like I have any right now!

    How much is too much?

I am supposed to have a 1/2 cup serving at a time. With what little restriction we all have right now, I think you would have to really over eat to even come close to stretching your pouch. It is hard to stay in the guidelines when you are hungry, but this too shall pass when we all start getting our fills. I have my first one on Wednesday, I am kind of excited. Some restriction will be nice!

    had my surgery

Try not to sit and fret, make sure you are getting up and moving. That really seemed to help me. This will pass and you will feel more and more like yourself each day. You just had surgery and it takes time for everything to get back to normal. Keep moving and sipping, that is really the key. Also, don't hesitate to take your meds, you don't have to be a hero! I love the lifesaver popsicles, they are the best! Hope you are feeling better, we are all here to help each other through this!

    Friday Weigh Ins - 29th August 08

Down 1 lb this week, things are slowing down. I have my first fill scheduled on Wed next week, I am looking forward to a bit more restriction! Of course I did not exercise, went back to school this week and it didn't happen - have to get after myself about that!

    Still hungry and no restrictions

I think we are all in the same spot. I was feeling the same way and was wondering if there was a band in or not! I have been hungry and can eat almost anything if I wanted to. I have been super hungry, but diligent about making sure I am not over eating! Hard to do at this point. I can't wait to get my first fill next week! A bit of restriction will be great!

    Almost 3 weeks!

Moe - good call on the measuring! If you have slowed on weight loss, measure. I found the same thing, I had lost from 1-2" everywhere, for a total of 8.5" lost! I can't wait to get to the soft food stage, if I eat one more yogurt or bowl of cottage cheese, I might just crack and eat a cheeseburger, just kiddin'! I think our bodies are trying to figure out what the heck we are doing to them! I go for my first fill next Wed and I can't wait to have some restriction, right now I feel like I have none at all. I have been really good about watching what I eat and staying to the mushies, but the head hunger has been killer! It is so nice to have all of you going through the same thing and know that there are people who get it when I need to vent!

    I am back home

Amanda, congrats and welcome to bandland. Make sure you take your pain meds as needed - you don't have to be a hero! Keep sipping and moving and you will feel great in no time at all! It is amazing how quickly you are up and moving after this surgery!

    Oh Great...Not!

We are all here to support you! Hang tough, you will get through it. It's just like telling your kids they can't have the Cookies until after dinner - all they want is the cookies. We always crave what we can't have, especially food! Look forward to your surgery, it is almost here!

    Post Surgery

I am all done and banded! I am so glad to be done and on my way to a healthy me! The surgery went well. I was very nervous right before heading into surgery, because of my last near death experience. It was smooth sailing and I feel good. I have six incisions with little bandages on them. I have an extended stay because of the sleep apnea - not sure what that has to do with it, but oh well. It is giving me time to use the wireless internet - what a treat, we have dial up at home! I have been up walking and using the bathroom without any trouble. I can't believe I feel this great:thumbup: But I am still being careful I know all of that can change in a minute. I am now sipping diluted cranberry juice and it is going down well. Should be out of the hospital by 4:00. Ross has been supportive, he is sitting and reading National Geographic while I use his computer - what a great guy:wub:

    "The Last Supper"....

I think everybody does the Farewell Tour! You go into panic mode thinking "oh no, this is it". Just remember that you will be able to eat those foods again, but in moderation. I was put on my post-op diet before I went in for surgery. I lost 20 lbs and felt great going into surgery. I don't really miss those foods, I know I will get to eat them in moderation again. Except for the really greasy stuff, right now it doesn't even sound appealing! Enjoy the next few weeks, because you really don't get to eat whole foods again for sometime after surgery! I agree with Lanakila, I would start weaning off the caffeine, etc. You don't want to do that all at the same time when you switch to liquids, that phase is hard enough!
  20. Hey, how are things going? I am up to mushies, it has been going well. I even lost 4 lbs this last week, how has your healing been going? I am going back to work this week, only teachers no students, so it shouldn't be too bad. I can get back in a schedule.

  21. I have been doing well, and you? I was down another 4 lbs this week. I was glad because I started mushies and was worried the weight loss would come to a screaching halt when I added back food!

I go back to school tomorrow, no students this week, but teacher prep week. It will be good to get back to a set schedule, I think I function better with a schedule. I already packed my lunch and snacks for tomorrow. I know I will have to be good about that, don't want to get caught with nothing I can eat!

    Need Advice

You should be fine. As long as you are eating small portions at a time it should not be a problem. Make sure you watch the apple juice, full of sugar & calories! The band is different for everybody. You may feel less restriction than the other person and that is perfectly normal. You need to listen to your body and follow what your doc tells you to do.

    Fragmin

I had the shot right before surgery and that was it. I haven't heard of anybody having to continue the shot for the next 10 days! Wow!

    Let's Get This Party Started!

Cutie~ If I jumped my pants would fall off! LOL I always lose in my butt and my boobs first. I noticed my bra cups were getting a bit loose. I might have to buy some new ones!
  25. Forgot to weigh yesterday, so I did it this morning - so here is my Saturday weight: Down 4 lbs this week! Need to pick up the exercise, that is a trouble area for me and I go back to work this coming week (teacher). Congrats to all the losers this week! Stick with it if you maintained or gained!
