Nice! I would love to see that!

Okay, way behind, been a long day! DD did very well with her surgery. She was a crack up when she "woke up". She was asking the weirdest questions - how many shots to numb my mouth, can I bite my tongue off, how did you get the teeth out, etc. She has always been curious and wanted to know why??? I think that is the math nerd in her. Math: Least favorite subject. The kids at school just laugh at me - never have understood, never will. I just use my super cool, bedazzled calculator to add/subtract/multiply/divide. Hey that was pretty good for me, using my math vocab Beth~ I can just see you now with your boxing gloves on! Ding, ding, ding, round 1! Boxing, debating and carrying a brown bag lunch; that about sums it up!:smile2: Lu~ So jealous that you can purge (your stuff) and get a new kitchen! I am a huge horder, don't know why, but I am. I need to apply my clean the kids room philosophy to the rest of the house! Two big boxes - throw away, give away and they are overflowing when I am done!!! I would always do it when they were gone for a weekend, that way there were no tears! TPG~ Sorry about all of the paperwork! Dang, that sounds daunting. At least you are away from the other office and don't have to put up with them or their shtuff, anymore! Ebony~ You are kickin' ass with your running! I feel like a lazy butt today, did nothing. Might have to get up early tomorrow and do a quick road run. Glouc & BBK~ Back slowly away from the vending machine - they are evil! I have a problem with the school bookkeepers office, she always has chocolate sitting out that is so easy to grab and go. You know, those stupid little bite size candy bars, well, I am in there more than 1x a day! Michelle~ In our staff meeting today they told us that buildings would not close for the flu (swine or other) unless there was 50% of staff and 50% of students out. That would be a lot of sick kids and teachers! Tried to hit the main points! Hope you all had a great day and sorry if I missed ya!

Hi everyone! Welcome to the new runners this week! Carol~ I knew you needed a swift kick, glad to be of some help! Suzanne~ Keep on truckin! Hope you can get some answers from the doc about your foot. Brandy~ Welcome back! You know the drill, listen to your body and move ahead when you are ready and that way you are less likely to get injured. Kathy~ It has to feel great to be on round 2 of your races! Good luck and I bet you beat your time from last year!! Sending some good vibes your way! Please send some back - I am worried that 10K is going to kick my butt!!!:smile2: GA~ Yeah! No head aches! That has to be the best feeling for you. Sign up for that 5K you will be ready by December! I had a great trail run with my dog on Tuesday. It was a hilly trail and I pushed hard to run as much as I could going up, that is always a killer for me! I feel like I am making some progress running on hills and running at altitude. It has been a bit busy and stressful going back to school this week and I am trying to figure out my exercise schedule that will work for the year! I didn't get my run in today, my DD had her wisdom teeth pulled so I have been taking care of her - poor thing, she is already starting to swell!
-
I second that! Kind of scary - did you see that he is having a video conference that can be aired in classrooms next Tuesday? That will be priceless! You should see the "lesson plan" suggestions!

Good idea! I think I will wear one the first day of school! A little nervous, but hey, gotta do what ya gotta do! One of my DD friends is at CU and has a confirmed mild case of swine flu and is in dorm quarantine for 7 days! That sucks and her classes just started. Glouc, good for you for at least noticing and responding. Kids need to know that someone is there and pulling for them. She is at a very tough age. They are really going through hormone and body changes - then add boys! You should give her a call and see what is up. A lot of times it is not nearly as bad as they make it out to be, they just need someone to listen. Keep us posted on how she is doing! Ebony~ You nailed it. They change so much from 14-17! My DD took awhile to find that self-confidence that we all knew was in there, and it has been amazing to watch her step out of her shell and embrace her new life! SMS~ that is a tough one! Just know that you were there and your brother messed up - not you! G4E~ Miss you too! I bet you are having LBT withdrawals. It has been killing me to only check in 1x a day! Hey, you can always go to the library to use the computer! [quote name=heartfire;1317115~SMS' date=' don't be sorry for panicking about the swine flu. I'm now trying to decide if DD is going to start preschool next week. She'll go 2 days then miss the next week b/c we're out of town. There is a flu epidemic at the HS, 200 students are out right now. School only has about 700! And another elementary school has a stomach flu bug going thru there too. I don't want DD to get sick right before our trip or while we're driving on the first 3 days of the trip! It's WAY too early for flu stuff! And they don't think it's H1N1 but they're testing all the kids anyway, just in case. [/quote] We have a flu shot clinic for staff at our school tomorrow. This is the earliest that it has ever been given! I am just waiting for next week - all the kids germs, coughs, and sneezes! EWWW! I have Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer on my desk and they will also be next to the laptop lab for easy convenience for the kids! Oh poopy! I am sure you will work this out and get your band! No way are you going away, we would miss you way too much! That makes it complicated! Crossing fingers, toes, legs and eyes, that this will work out for you! What goes around comes around! Hang on! Of course, I think girls are always nicer to their dad's and the mom's get the brunt of it! Rant any time you want, that is why we are all here, to support each other, good or bad! Hahaha, remember when you didn't want to be on FB??? Now you are addicted!! Nighty night! Lu~ I don't get birds, but I get mice from my dogs - damn terriers! Sounds like the kitchen will be beautiful! I know what my dream kitchen looks like, but doubt I ever get to see it! Hope you get some hotties that you can report on:biggrin: PJTP: DD has her surgery tomorrow morning and she is cracking me up! She has never been under before and is having anxiety. Thank God for the Valium she gets to take tonight and tomorrow before surgery! On a positive note, she was invited to a special dinner for the top 20 rowing prospects for the crew team! That is pretty exciting, considering paying for her college education is on the line! The students were working on repainting the student store today, mind you they have to open on Tuesday! Well, they were using primer and it about made me pass out! And to top it off they are all hangin in the store and they say they can't smell anything. Contributing to the delinquincy of a minor!! Stress with the impending start of school. Trying to keep the eating under control and NOT get on the scale and I really want to!! Breathe! I did get a run in last night, but it did not happen today! I really need it for stress relief! Hope everyone is well and has a great day tomorrow!

Hi all! Had to go back to work today then I had agility class with Bailey and I just got caught up with today - dang, I was behind pages!!! I will miss Carlene ! But I am glad that Tap is back! Michelle~ You were a posting fool today! Try to have a fun weekend! You get to see me the next weekend! I am really looking forward to meeting in person! And I also can't believe you used the word "hard on". Beth~ How did school go today? I say we all pitch in a couple of bucks and get Donna a donkey ride Kat~ Sounds like DD has the DGD situation under control. That must put your mind at ease. Brandy~ Where do you live? Are you a valley girl? It would be fun if Michelle and I could get together with you. Lu~ Smart buying extra flip flops. I just went through 2 pair in the last week. Kids left the dogs out when they left the house and Bailey loves my flip flops. I need to hit Old Navy and get some fill in pairs! Ebony~ Sorry about the job hunt. Like Beth said, there is something bigger and better waiting for you out there! Sure I missed someone and something, sorry about that! I will try to check in on my lunch so I am not so far behind! So, my day was pretty good. We had a whole district meeting and had a really good keynote speaker. He was funny and interesting. Then we went to a break out session and DH and I were ready to cut out! OMG! They are trying to make the teachers completely responsible for every aspect of student learning. The students don't have to take any responsibility and if they are failing it is our fault! WHAT???? Not sure if that makes sense, but at some point the student needs to show up and step up. If they don't how will they ever be ready for the real world and a job?? My store managers came in to get started setting up. So of course I got none of my own work done. I get side tracked to easily! They have some great ideas and they will be busy painting and doing minor remodeling to get ready to open next week. Hope everyone had a nice evening and you all have a great Tuesday!

If you are throwing up, you may need to do liquids for a day or two to see if that helps. You could be swollen and eating the foods that are bothersome and then throwing up again, could be hurting you. Make sure you are chewing your food thoroughly, until it is mush in your mouth. I tend to want to eat too fast and that is when I get stuck. Julia's hint of chewing each bite at least 20 times is a very good idea. It is also good to put your utensils down between bites. I have certain foods that I can only have 1-2 bites and they will get stuck. I have learned what they are and try to avoid them. It is a process and you will find that some foods are good for you and your band and others are not! Hope that helped!

Kat~ That is horrible! Poor kid. I would go after his ass with a vengence! Your DD does need to take pictures and document everything. Then she has proof of what is happening. That has to be so hard for you to watch! (((Hugs)))

Couple of questions... I hope someone can help
krtork replied to Jenfs5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jen~ Don't know if I can be much help, but I will try. I am sometimes tight in the morning and I cannot eat food. I have to have some warm liquids to help get things started. Then I will either have a Protein shake or I can eat. Other mornings I can eat. Often times I am not really hungry in the morning, but I eat because I know that I have to get my protein in for the day! Sounds like you are having some mind issues with the food right now. I think that is the hardest part to get over! It is ok to be hungry and to feel hungry it is something that most of us never have experienced when we were fat. The nut that I see suggested that I let myself get hungry so I know what it feels like. Then I can distinguish between true hunger and head hunger. Addressing your other question, are you drinking too fast? It seems odd that you can eat but have restriction with liquids. I would ask your doctor about that when you see him for your fill. I wouldn't worry too much about how much you are able to eat at this point. It takes a lot of people many fills before they really get consistent restriction. Until you get to that point, make good choices and use portion control and you should keep moving down the scale. Hope that was helpful. Good luck with your weight loss! -
I also love the papaya enzymes - life savers. I also have used pineapple juice. It has also been good for stuck episodes. However, it is a bit harder to carry around, so I like the enzymes - don't have to worry about spills.
-
Starting off with some liquid is a great idea. I am tight in the morning sometimes and I will have a little bit of hot tea. That seems to get things loosened up. Then I can eat something and get some Protein in.

Anyone with a Port in the chest area instead of on thier side?
krtork replied to 123crod's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is right below my rib cage on the left hand side, near the largest scar. I have bruised when getting a fill. It has just depended on how much they have to poke around to hit the port. Most of the time I do not bruise, but may be a little tender for a day or two. -
Okay, the doctor had me put my scale away for the next three weeks - sooo, I can't weigh in until my next appt. I am still up for the challenge and I will be checking in to cheer you all on!

Puppy breath rocks! You are so lucky and she is such a little cutie! Throw down as many chew toys as you can and pray!:wink2: So sorry that your MIL is such a pain. I am lucky, mine lives in WI and we are in OR. They don't have much to do with DH, in fact they did not come to our wedding, so we don't have to deal with them very often. When or if they do call, DH is in a mood the rest of the day! Very solid advice! Glad the fundraiser was a success and DD food was a huge hit! Lu~ Great advice as always! PJTP: I am cooking right now. Making some breakfast bites (mini-quiches) that I can grab in the mornings before work. They smell great! Hope they taste as good.
-
I hope you have a wonderful day! Rant noted! Looks like a very, very fun party! You look awesome and the grandkids are sooo cute! I could never get DH to dress up, I would, but he wouldn't! PJTP: Anybody heard from Ebony? Hope she is doing okay, Friday was not a good one for her. I had a great run this morning. We went 5.5 miles and I was motoring right along and even passed the middle of the pack coach who was running with a couple of gals I have not been able to catch before. I am really looking forward to the 10K in two weeks. I know I won't win any awards, but I know I can run the race! Trying to put off thinking about school tomorrow morning - ugh! This has been one of the best summer's I have had in a long time. I used to spend the summer sitting around the house and not doing much of anything, I had even stopped gardening. This summer I have been running, biking and hiking in places that I never thought I would see. I have been busy in the yard and I am even riding my horsie again. I really just want to stay home and keep playing! Hope you all have a great day!

Carol~ Sorry to hear about your friend's mom, that is a tough situation. You should be there for your friend right now! Of course you will be out there tomorrow, or I will be sending another fanny kickin' your direction! Kathy~ Glad to help. I think we all need someone to be accountable to every once in awhile. I know that I do!! I wasn't feeling the love to run this morning, but I got up and met my trail running group and I am glad that I did. We ran 5.5 miles today and I rocked it! The first 1.5 miles were not very fun, but then I just took off and nailed it. I even passed the middle of the pack coach and he was surprised to see me. I am not fast, but I am like the turtle - slow and steady! I am excited for my 10K coming up in two weeks!
-
Mary~ I have been feeling the same way! I think that I am eating a ton of food when I look at what others are eating! I have been trying to get in my calories and protein and sometimes I struggle to fit it all in during a day. Compared to everyone else I feel like I am pigging out. I know that everyone is different and I do take that into consideration, but it is amazing how different food intake is from person to person. Okay, I am over it. (for now)

Sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope you are doing better today!

Don't give up. I was on a plateau for 4-5months before the scale started moving again. It is moving slow, but moving. Be glad that it is not going up! Keep exercising and eating right and you will lose. The other thing you might want to do is measure. Sometimes the weight is moving but the inches are melting! Ocotillo had some good advice about mixing it up. Change up your exercise or mix up the amount of daily calories, that can also help get the scale moving again! Good luck

Breakfast Ideas, please
krtork replied to Losing 2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest this thread - tons of ideas: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/share-ideas-what-did-you-eat-today-36828/ I will make a smoothie in the morning, I put oatmeal in a mug at my desk and eat it. Today I am going to make some mini-crustless quiches that I can grab and go in the mornings. Here is the link to the blog where I got the recipe: theworldaccordingtoeggface -
wanna let my mind catch up with my body.
krtork replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jen~ You have a lot on your plate right now and it is great that you are recognizing that you do need to make some adjustments. You are not whining, you are dealing with life! I say good for you! You have done a great job with weight loss and now you are trying to get the rest of your life caught up and on track. And of course, you are seeing your doctor  so you will be able to make a decision together about how you should proceed.
