Hang in there it does get better. Make sure you are up and moving and at least sipping your Water. If you are having a hard time getting it down, I would call the dr office and let them know - no reason to be a hero! Would I do it again, in a minute! I wish I could have had the band years ago. I feel like I am getting my life back and realize how much I missed out on the past 16 years! Each passing day will get better!

Friday Morning Weigh In - 21st November 2008
krtork replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was out of town for the past few days with my students and low and behold I lost 2 lbs this week. Pretty excited - I usually gain about 5 lbs when I go on these retreats! -
Lanakila~ Get back on the bandwagon! Make sure you are planning ahead for your food - try not to leave it to chance. I fell into that for a week or two when the kids were really busy with sports and we were having late nights at school. I don't know your situation, but knowing that I had my food at home made the fast food stop for family much easier to avoid for myself. I will admit wanting to kill my dh as he was downing his french fries in the car, I stopped myself, but it did take total restraint! LOL! I hear you on the exercise front - that is always the hardest part for me. I still need to kick it up a notch. I have been doing the couch to 5k so I am at least getting out to move about 3x a week. I try to get home and change as soon as I walk in the door so I can head right back out to run/walk. It is hard when you are busy taking care of everybody else. I have definitely had to reprioritize and try to put me first! You can do this - tomorrow is a new day!

I have been at a stand still for the past two weeks. Not up, not down. Just want the scale to move. . . down of course! Just had my 3rd fill on Friday, I am feeling some restriction as I have moved back to solids today, I am hoping that I will have that full feeling for more than an hour!
-
I don't feel mine unless I bump into something or press on my stomach where my port is. I haven't noticed it with exercise, either.
-
I'm game. I will also shoot for 10 more lbs! That would put me at 202 - so close to onederland! Start 212- - - - - -202 Goal
-
I have been playing up and down with the same 2lbs for two weeks now. So, I stayed the same - stuck at 212. Went for my 3rd fill today, slightly less aggressive, only added .5cc, that puts me at 5 total. On liquids for the next two days - want to make it through the weekend without an episode, I think I am close to being "just right". Congrats to all you "losers"!
-
I have never been cold in my life - my dh refers to me as a polar bear. I love to sleep with the window cracked during the winter, always wear short sleeves, etc. During the past week I have been sooo cold; cold hands, feet. Maybe I was like a polar bear?! Anybody else have this new "problem"?
-
Amaltha ~Well, I sit here cold again tonight. I am heading out to WI for Turkey Day, I will probably freeze my buns off! Inlaws have a wood stove, I will probably be sitting on top of it! I head in tomorrow to get a fill. I am going to ask the PA about being cold - I will keep you posted! I am hoping it is just my new sleek body!

Gary~ WTG! What a nice feeling, keep up the good work!

Which Band - Realize or Allergan/Iname
krtork replied to texasweb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Realize Band. Had a choice. I love my band! -
I'm starving and I have just had a fill!!

I have also found that the amount I can eat really fluctuates. I wonder when you hit your sweet spot if that is the case. I go from eating 1/2 cup one day and forcing it down to being able to eat close to 2 cups the next. Very frustrating. I get my 3rd fill on Friday - I think I am getting close, but who knows! -
Sleek, I'm lovin' it! Oh, try that on for size, it works for me!

To Tell or Not to Tell, That is the Question.
krtork replied to Ineedalapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally understand the pressure, expectation thing! I think we all have that feeling in the back of our minds - we have failed so many other times you can't help but wonder about this. I am sure it will work itself out and you may end up talking about it once she is there. It could end up being a win/win for you! Let us know how it works out. -
Lanakila - Polar bear to skinny bear - is there a skinny bear???? Too funny! Mango24 - I go in for my nutrition follow up after Turkey Day, I have blood work up then, will check into it! My sweatshirts are getting lots of wear right now. The dogs have been super snuggly since I seem to be wrapped in a blanket every time I sit down! Not all bad! Thanks for the input!!!

Oh man! Hang tough - you can get through the first part of this holiday season. Make sure you plan, plan, plan. I think that is going to be the key for the holidays. I am going to allow myself to taste and have bites of foods that I love, but make sure that it is just that - tiny amounts and not overdoing it. I am also going to make sure that I stay in my calorie amount and keep up with my protein! Good Luck!

Had lap band surgery, but never followed up

Be encouraging and supportive. I would tell her about this site. I have found it to be a very good resource as well as an online support group. -
Anybody else experiance this?
krtork replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you are sipping water all day. It is easy to get dehydrated. Because you can't drink large gulps or down a water bottle, you need to have water at hand at all times. That is something I had to get used to. I used to drink a lot of water pre-banding, but it would be in short bursts. I have learned to drink most of the day, between meals to make sure I am getting it all in. -
Congrats! Everybody is different. Make sure you follow your docs guidelines and don't let yourself get dehydrated. That can happen pretty quickly if you are not sipping Water all day! I found that warm broth right after surgery was very soothing to my stomach. I could have about 1/4 to a 1/2 cup serving at a time. Good luck on your journey!

can someone please answer my question?
krtork replied to amynicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang tough and make sure you follow your eating plan. It is easy to get off track when you discover your appetite and little to no restriction after surgery. Make sure you are getting in your Protein, very important for healing. Make sure you drink your Water between eating too, it really helps keep you full and hydrated! -
How are u getting your protein in? (share tips and tricks)
krtork replied to Crummy78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I usually have oatmeal for Breakfast and add a scoop of Protein powder to it each morning. Can't taste the difference and really helps up my protein each day. I also carry a SB Protein Bar in my purse, just in case I am hungry when I am out and about and can't find anything that is non-greasy or healthy to eat. -
I use the site. The dr can track how you are doing and follow your progress. It is okay, I use the food diary, track my weight and exercise. It could be a bit more user friendly, but it does work.
-
I use the "Eating Well After WLS" cookbook also, love the recipes. I also reference recipes from this site. I agree, if there was a book put together, people would buy it. Much easier to grab a cookbook when in the kitchen, then the computer - especially those of us who still have dial up!
-
I also use the Lean Cuisine and WW meals for lunch. It is hard to find them without rice or pasta. I just eat the protein and veggie and leave the rice or pasta. Some of my students love that though, they get extra lunch!

2nd fill w/Realize band 6cc total no restriction
krtork replied to betrthnever's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fennigen~stick with it! You will find your sweet spot. I have my next fill on Friday. Everybody is different and I believe we all will get there. I have definitely slowed down on the weight loss. After a two week stand still the scale moved again. It is coming off slowly, but surely. I have been run/walking at least 3x a week. I really have to watch my food in take. That has been a challenge. I have to make sure that I weigh and measure and try to stay at my 60g of Protein.
