Friday Morning Weigh Ins - 16th January 2009
krtork replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hit onderland! So happy I cried and then cried again when I told my husband. Haven't had a 1 in front of my weight for 18 years. Woo Hoo! Last week: 202 This week: 198 Loss: 4lbs -
You go girl! Yeah! Isn't that the best feeling!

I did not tell a lot of people what I was doing. I waited until after banding. I feel fortunate that most people have been super supportive of my decision. Most people that are negative are usually misinformed about the procedure and don't really have a clue about obesity. I would take what they say with a grain of salt. Do your research and decide what is best for you. You need to be comfortable and informed with your decision, you have to live with it. I tried dieting, will power, and exercise so many times I can't count. I would lose and gain the weight right back and then some. With the band I feel like I can be successful and become a healthier me! It still takes work, but I know that I need that in place to help me be successful and not fall back into my old habits and patterns. I hope you can make the right decision for you. Don't let other peoples comments keep you from reaching your goal.

I would double check with your doc. That really seems extreme. My instructions are about the same as the other posters. Stop drinking 15min before and start up again 1 hour after. Sometimes I will go 45min if I am dying of thirst. I have found that if I am not hydrated it is really hard to go the full hour after.

I have really loved the C25K, it really helps you get started running without over doing it and then quitting. I had a great run today! It was 53 and sunny, ran in short sleeves - oh yeah! Kathy - hope the cabbage rolls turned out! Isn't it funny how you will crave certain foods.
-
Ran 28min, walked 10min. I wore a short sleeve shirt and it was 53 and sunny out! Yeah!

Georgia~ OUCH! Take it easy and keep it elevated. Some ice should keep the swelling down. I always have the kids use a bag of frozen peas, it wraps easier.

Terrified about starting solid food
krtork replied to thinkingslim70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem myself when I was ready to go to solids! I think I posted the same message. Make sure you add foods slowly so you know what you can and cannot tolerate. Make sure you take small bites and chew well. I think you will find like most people that you can eat solids easily in the beginning, until you start getting fills and get good restriction. Make sure you follow the guidelines you have been given and you shouldn't fall back into those old habits. It sounds like you have made some really good choices and lost a lot of weight pre-band! WTG! Now you have to learn how live with the band and get the weight off and keep it off. You can do this, it is just your next step in your journey! -

MacMadame~ My husband has the clip shoes. He says that once I try it I won't want to go back. He says it makes it easier, because you can lift and push.

bindi- hang in there. It is the pits when you plateau. I have been struggling with the same thing. I am finally moving down the scale again. I know how hard it can be when you stop losing, you feel like you are back in that "old cycle" again of dieting. Just stick with it. Make sure you are measuring out your portions, getting in your Protein and making good food choices. Do you write down what you eat each day. I know that is helpful for me, I sometimes don't realize how many times I just pop something into my mouth - and those calories count! I think we are all coming out that honeymoon phase. It is just another stop along our WLS journey. At least we all have each other to look to for support!

Help! Horrible pain at port. Doc no help!
krtork replied to kimma081982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some port pain awhile back and they thought it could be an infection, it was very sore to touch. They put me on mega-anti-inflamatories and were pretty aggressive trying to make sure everything was good. I went back in a week for a check, felt better, stayed of exercise for another week and everything has been fine since. I would make sure you get an appt and be seen. If you are having concerns, they should at least have a look to see if there is anything going on! I hope you feel better! -
do you get a numbing agent before a fill?
krtork replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have always had numbing with my fills. They just do it as part of the procedure. They have never had a hard time finding the port, in fact I have been in and out pretty quickly each time. -
5min walk 20min-run 10min-abs (owee!) I was very tired, no sleep last night and wanted to come home and flop, but I did what I could and felt good about not giving into my excuse!

Everyone is so excited, I am on the outside lookin' in! Now I am definitely going to get a nike+ I want to join the party! I ran on the treadmill tonight, it is so weird for me. I was able to get in 1.5miles and I couldn't take it anymore. Note to self - get home earlier!
