Reeba~ This is a great place to get information! My husband was very skeptical before I had the procedure too. He went with me to all of the meetings and appointments so he was able to ask questions and have them answered. After the info meeting he was on board and ready to move forward in the process with me. This has been huge! You really need the support from those around you. Good luck!

I had a fun opportunity a week ago to do an interview for the local news station. The dr office called and asked if I would be interested, of course I said yes! I do have a copy of it, I will see if I can get a link to it when I go into school on Monday. I have dial up at home, so it would take forever! Anywho, just thought I would share. I am hoping that at least one person saw it and thought the band might help them too.

Well, I am going to give it a try this summer. I am going to do my first sprint in July! I am excited, but also very nervous! My goal - to finish! -
Kathy~ get some rest! I am finally starting to feel better. Hope your DH is doing better. It is no fun when the family gets sick! I finally was able to get in a run yesterday, was going to do 1 mile, but stretched it out to 2. Felt good to get back out there, of course I had a couple of cough fits and thought I would lose a lung, but other than that not too bad, just slow goin'. Hoping that tomorrow goes better!

I agree with signing up for a race! It is fun and very motivating. That really helped me start running, especially when I told others that I signed up for the race. I have found that there are lots of 5K run/walks that you can enter. I also set time/distance goals for myself. I try to get farther within a set time limit. They are personal goals that I set to push myself and see how far or how fast I can go. I might just set a certain number of miles for a given week or I might set a time limit and try to increase the distance within the time limit. Have some fun and push yourself, see what your body can do!

DE~ WTG! Don't be disappointed, I am very impressed! Ninner~ I hear you on the kids sports! It only gets worse as they get older! Try to find some time for yourself, you will be glad you did. Mac~ Good luck with the 5K, you will do great! Kathy~ Great presents, a pedicure, how awesome is that! Sounds so good. I took today off, cold is moving down into my chest. Dang! I will see how I feel after school tomorrow, maybe I can squeeze in an easy mile and see how I am feeling! Hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week! Keep adding up the miles!!!!

I am pretty boring when it comes to breakfast - oatmeal with honey and cinnamon sprinkled on top. Occasionally I will have a scrambled egg with cheese, but I usually don't have time. I have had a hard time with eggs after this last fill.

Kathy & Georgia~ Thanks! I took today off, I might try a short run tomorrow if my cough lets up. I just know that this time of year has always been a time when I get off track. I don't want to lose what I have gained, that is why I purposely planned the 5K in March - good motivator! Kathy~good job on increasing the speed. I have been trying to do the same thing with work on the treadmill, that way I know it is consistent. I have also been working on speeding up for short distances on my outside runs. I did a 4mile on the Friday before I took my students to their conference - it felt really good to go that far!

I had a conference with my students this past week. My good intentions were only that! We left on Saturday and got back on Wednesday. I did wake up on Sunday morning and use the treadmill at the hotel, did 40 minutes before all the kids got up. That was the last of it. I woke up Monday morning and could hardly swallow my throat was so sore and swollen. Even had ear pain. Came home on Wed, exhausted and now I have laryngitis. I want to try to run tomorrow, but still feeling a bit run down, sore throat, stuffy nose. I have my next 5K scheduled on March 14, feeling the pressure to be ready! Advice?

Today I am one week out from surgery. For the most everything has been great! I feel good, I am still losing weight, and I have not been too hungry. I did have a bad night last night. My port area was very sore and cramping. It was hard to get up and move. I went out to change irrigation and by the time I came in I was doubled over and sweating - it was very strange. I did take some pain meds and was finally able to relax. I think I have been pushing it, since I have felt so good. This morning I felt good and was able to get out and about. When I finished at school, I came home and have been relaxing, I feel much better!

Ok, I feel quilty after reading everyone's posts! I took the day off and was rather lazy! Oh my, I will have to hit it tomorrow. I am going to try 4mi tomorrow. I hope it isn't snowing. The weather has been all over the place, warm, cold, rain, snow, wind - I wish it would make up its mind!

I just finished Ultra Marathon Man a week ago! Awesome read, it is very inspiring. Make sure you pick up his next book (50/50), my husband just finished it and really liked it too! I haven't started it yet, might get to it this long weekend.

Julie Ann~ WTG! I saw your post and I just did the same thing! I went to get some new pants and decided to venture into the "normal" people section first, just to see. I was so shocked when I picked up size 16 and they FIT! Woo Hoo! Keep up the good work! -

I also agree with Heather. Have you contacted your surgeon to see what he has to say? -
Barneygirl~ I would just start at the pace that is right for you. You will be amazed at how quickly you will progress! It is a great program that really helps you get more active and fit!

Kathy~ WTG! Measuring is so fulfilling when the scale isn't movin'! Suzanne~ I did the shoe thing this weekend too! It was kind of fun and the guy said I had a neutral foot and an efficient gait. It sounds like something I would comment on when evaluating a horse - LOL! I would time the race if I was you. It is fun to see where you are and it is a good motivator for the next race! I had about 3mos between races and I am working to take 5mins off my first race time. I am excited to see if I can reach my goal! Mac~ Great job on the 45min run! I love the good job voice on the nike+. I had Lance Armstrong tell me that I had the longest workout since I started (on Saturday). I started laughing, I thought it was pretty funny.

Went on my trail run today, it was fun. The weather broke and it was a beautiful sunny day! The only part I didn't like was running uphill for the first 1.5 miles. But it was down hill from there! After the run DH decided to take me to one of the running stores in town to get some new shoes. I got to go through the whole process and have my feet checked and analyzed. It was kind of fun. I tried on several different shoes and ended up with a pair of Nike's - which is funny, because that is almost always what I wear, they just fit my feet well. The other great part was the fact that they are Nike+. Anywho, it was a good day and I got a Valentine's present to boot!

Mac~ I have a copy of a 12 week training program, so I figure that gives me some extra time to get in shape for the swim and bike. I just need to sign up!
