I finally got my Nike+, but I was not sure how to get in on the challenges. I would love to participate - any extra motivation is good for me!

I ruined my Lapband progress............
krtork replied to deenie01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hang in there. It is tough when you are depressed and your natural inclination is to turn to food. You also need to remember that you are not yet completely restricted, so you probably haven't increased the size of your stomach, especially if you are measuring out your food. But I would definitely bring up this concern with your dr when you go in for your next fill. You probably had a psych eval before your surgery?? Maybe you need to schedule an appointment to talk about what you are going through and see if they can help you get yourself back on track. You just had surgery, are changing your lifestyle and your husband left for Afghanistan - that is a lot for anybody to handle. You also have support here at LBT. You need to look at this moment as a time to get back on track. Try to make good food choices, watch your portion sizes and get some exercise! You had this surgery for a reason, think back to what pushed you to make this decision, write it down and post it somewhere where you will see it! You need to do this for yourself, don't give up, learn from the mistakes and challenges you have had and make it a new day! Here is the tough love - go through and throw away the foods that you know you shouldn't be eating. Get them out of the house so they aren't a temptation. Replace them with some healthy choices. Get up off your fanny and start exercising. You will feel better! No excuses. -
Not So Supportive Spouse
krtork replied to marathonmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great advice from everyone! My DH was the same way, it took him two years to see that maybe this was a safe and effective option. I took him to the info meeting with me and that is where he finally "got it"! He listened to the surgeon, asked questions, and then he was crying when they showed the before & after pics at the end. He finally realized that I did need some help and this could save my life. He has been supportive since that time. I took him to almost all of my appts before surgery so he could ask questions and feel like he was part of the process, it was the best thing I could have done. I hope this works out for you and you get him on your side - it will improve your life! -
You go girl! :thumbup:The dreaded swim suit season, not too bad this year.

We talked about this at support group last night. I totally agree with Jodi - if you use at as a tool for weight loss, then it will serve you well. If all it does is stress you out, then you should weigh less frequently. I like the accountability, it really makes me take a look at the exercise and eating I did the day before. I only "count" what I weigh on Friday morning so the other days are just the check points. The nutritionist said that people that have maintained long term weight loss do weigh themselves frequently - so I guess that it isn't too obsessive!

Juli~ 5' 8 1/2", sorry! They had me try several bikes and I just fell in love with it. I just have to get on and get going!
-
I will see what I can do about the pics! We have dial up so I will see if I can get it done at school tomorrow. It has a really cool paint job - it looks dark blue, almost black inside and then it is a really sparkly deep blue in the sun light. I rode it on the trainer today and practiced shifting - the snow is supposed to melt midweek, so I hope I can take it outside!
-
I am also addicted! I weigh every morning - I have to! I know that I shouldn't, but I am all freaked out when I can't get on the scale. I am afraid that I will gain weight and not be able to get it under control. From one addiction to another! Isn't that the addicts way??? LOL!

Juli~ It is a Trek Madone, it was an 06 model that never sold so DH got a really great price on it! Again, I feel like it is too much bike, but he didn't want me to ride for 6 months and then want a new bike. It is snowing here today! I really want to get out and ride, I wish the weather would turn. I have spring break off next week and hope that it will warm up and the sun will shine!
-
Mac~ WTG! Doesn't it feel great when you reach those goals!
-
I got a road bike for my birthday, but I have yet to ride it! It has been windy and cold for the past week. I haven't ridden a bike in years, so I am kind of a weenie when it comes to the weather, want to make sure it is a good experience! I think my DH over did it on the bike, it is way faster than me - I am thinking that I am going to have to "grow into it". LOL!
-
Kathy~ I hope you get to feeling better, it is no fun being sick! I finished my second 5K today. I hit my goal that I made in December! I was pretty excited about that. I finished in 34:40 and was able to take 5 minutes off of my time. It was the first time since Dec that my DH has run with me. He noticed that I was faster and my conditioning was better. Nice to have some confirmation.

No pork here! chicken is just fine, can't reheat it though, that definitely gets stuck. Red meat has been really hard for me. I can eat some ground beef if it is in a casserole. I have not had any bread since banding - convinced myself that I just can't eat it, don't even want to try. I used to absolutely love bread! No rice or Pasta either. I have tried some pasta, but found that I get stuck - not worth it! I feel like I have weird eating habits and have to remind myself to eat most of the time. I have a true craving for avocados and Peanut Butter - never had this before, but now I do. Weird!

I have found great support here. Everybody knows what I am going through and has some sort of input to help me through. I also attend the once a month support that my dr offers. No weigh in, but great advise talking to others that are going through the same thing. I agree with Lellow, posting to the Friday weigh in is motivation for me to keep the scale moving down. I hate when I get stuck or gain, that is the competitive side of me! I don't want to post when the scale goes up or stays the same, but I do, I know it keeps me honest. I know of some people on LBT that do WW. You might search this site and see what others say and if it has worked for them. If you could find a supportive group that understands you have a band that might be the way to go. That personal check in with another person can be highly motivating.

Michelle~ I hear ya! I have been stuck in a rut. My band is nice and tight, having good restriction, but I am just not moving down the scale! Still at 193 and holding! -
Friday Morning Weigh In - Friday the 13th of March
krtork replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lellow~ WTG! I am still stuck at 193, scale won't move, it has been three weeks now! Argh!!! -
I also get the hiccups when I get to that full point. I have to really watch to eat slowly and listen to my body - I usually know when I am getting full, but sometimes I still take the extra bite! Most of the time it will go away, no problems, but other times I slime, completely miserable!
-
Carol~ Every run is a learning experience. I went through several runs when I wondered why I was even doing this! I redid some of the days in the program, and I found that it would actually up my motivation trying to push through and get it done! Hang in there, I still have off days, but the rewards are greater so it keeps me going!

Question: I have my nike+ and was wondering how to join the challenges??
-
I had a really great run yesterday and I went swimming for the first time in years today! It was so relaxing, I loved it. Of course I thought I would die, but I did 25 minutes. I am looking forward to my 5K this weekend. Hoping the weather will hold. It is supposed to snow/rain on Saturday, crossing my fingers that the sun will come out for 40 minutes, so I can get through it in nice weather! I have a training session tomorrow. My dog agility trainer, is working with a personal trainer that is offering classes for her students. Should be fun to do something new, just hoping I am not too sore when I am done!

August All Stars Easter Challenge! End, wk 3 (1/8/09)
krtork replied to heartfire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I am down 1 lb. I am close to a personal goal. I wanted to get down 75 lb by my birthday (Sunday), I am pretty close, so I will weigh again on Sunday and see where I am! -
Suzanne~ I would go ahead and head outside. It may be a little different for you, but it should be doable. I love running outside, the change of scenery is so nice! I started outside and then moved to the treadmill on days that it was just too cold, snowy or windy to run outside. So I did mix it up between the two over the winter and found that the treadmill is definitely easier for me, but I love running outside and hate the days when I have to stay in!

Hang in there - you will find the spot. It really is an individual thing. I have had 6 fills and finally feel like it is really working the way that it should. It sounds like you are making positive changes and that is what this is all about; changing your lifestyle. Let us know how this fill goes!

Brad~ You are cruisin'! Way to go! I am moving down the scale, but super slow! Argh!!! Last Week: 194 This Week: 193 Kristen
