I was able to ride my bike on Monday! Yeah! It is fast, but man did I have fun. Still getting all the shifting down. I injured my back and have been out of commission for the past 2 weeks. I walked for 1 mile and then I decided to try a ride - I was just going to go around the block, but my back felt good and I did 2 miles and went down and back up the dreaded "hill"! It was great!
-
Mac~ WTG! That is amazing! I have not made my 4 miles without a short walk in the middle. Once I get to run again, I will be back at it - you inspire me!
-
Kathy~ WTG! That is a great time on a hilly course.
-
Kathy~ Good luck on the 5K! I will try to start walking tomorrow and see how far I can get. This back thing is worse than I thought it was! Today I just wanted to take off running, but I am still having quite a bit of pain.

You need to drink, drink, drink. You do not want to end up back in the hospital with dehydration. You should be sipping Water throughout the day! You can also count your Protein shakes, broth, tea, etc. I found in the beginning that warm broth was really soothing to my tummy. Good luck, sounds like you are on your way to a new you!

How is it to cook for others after surgery
krtork replied to Allformyson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My kids are older, so it was nice that they could fend for themselves for a short while. My DH cooked for the first two weeks, just so I didn't have to be hands on with the food. However, I found in the beginning I was not very hungry at all, so it wasn't much of a problem. When I started cooking again, I have just made food that the family will eat - they out number me. I will cook their food, I will eat what I can of it, and then I will make something for myself. I still don't do any Pasta, rice or bread, so I just make the adjustment in my meals. It is not too difficult. You just have to be mindful of what you can eat and what you put in your mouth. -
Don't worry about it! I was only on week 5 when I did my first 5K, I went and did just fine. I was not last and I did have to walk some of it, but it was a great experience! You will have a great time and find that you get caught up in the race and your adrenaline will carry you pretty far! Worry about your personal goal and if you are last you are last, but I doubt that will happen. Heck no matter what place you usually get a t-shirt and a goodie bag!

"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
krtork replied to Oblong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't beat yourself up! You have amazing self-control!!! You might gain some weight as you start eating solids is natural - you are adding more calories and more substance to your meals, but don't worry, it is natural to either gain or stay the same during this time. Make sure you measure out your foods and chew, chew, chew! It is four short weeks before you get your fill, follow the rules and don't worry. -
AHHH, a plan was devised! LOL!
-
Mac~ You will surely beat me! I am still walking bent over and having pain. I wanted to try walking on the treadmill today, but I doubt I am really up for that!

different medications?!? (asprin, etc.)
krtork replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely check with your dr! I have been able to use the children's liquid advil and liquid tylenol. I have used the tylenol for headaches and it seems to work just fine. I am using the advil for some temporary back pain that I am having. -
Cutie~ Good to see that you are back! WTG with hitting onederland! Isn't it amazing!

New Girl on the Block

Welcome to the site! You are off to a great start with a friend like GAgirl! -
I would get in to see your surgeon. You should not be throwing up 2-3x per week, that is not normal. Don't give up yet! Until you can get in, really watch what you are eating and make sure you really chew well. Let us know how it goes!

Kathy~ WTG! What a great feeling.

I'll never make my goal! Gained the 2 lb I lost last week. Poooo! -
Lellow~ Good Luck, we will be thinking of you! Well, I am back up to 193 - I hate 193! I also have not been able to exercise all week. I hurt my back on Tuesday and will not be able to do any exercise for about 2 weeks, Argh!
-
So, it is spring break and I decided that I would really try to fit more exercise in this week, without having the pressure of work. Great idea! On Tuesday morning I head out with DD to a bootcamp class and I proceed to hurt my lower back by setting a weight back on the rack - you can stop laughing now! OMG, I can hardly walk, went to the dr yesterday and I have a sprain, basically I sprained my fanny - how embarassing is that! I am off for about 2 weeks with very limited activity and should be 6 weeks before it is completely healed!!!! ARGH!!!! My general physician was pretty funny when I went in. I kept asking what can I do? How soon can I run? Can I swim? What about riding my bike? He said he would have never thought he would hear me ask those questions. He assured me, I should be able to start walking on a flat surface within a few days, but I have to take it easy or my back will not heal and I will be out of commission for longer! This is killing me! Okay, enough whining, just had to share.

I lost 2 pounds! The scale went down! Finally! Last week (and the previous 3 weeks): 193 This week: 191

GA~ Welcome back, sorry you had such a rough week. It is tough to watch someone you know lose someone and go through that pain. Kathy~ I finally got the challenge, I'm in! This will be good motivation for me. I ran on the treadmill today. It was cold and windy and I did not feel like running outside after sitting all day watching baseball. I am trying to figure out how to fit my exercise into my schedule. I am swimming, running, biking and strength training. Tomorrow morning I am doing a bootcamp class with DD - should be fun, well, in a sick sort of way - LOL! It is nice having spring break, I can fit more into my day!

Tracie~ I had the same experience. When I started running I didn't feel the pain, but as I increased my mileage and speed I started to notice some pain in my port area. The PA noticed I was wincing with my fill - I told her I thought it could be related to my running, but she and the dr thought it could be an infection. So several horse pills later - I still had some pain. I had to stop running for 1 1/2 weeks, until I had no pain, then start up slowly. Since that time I have not had any pain. I think it was similiar to what you are describing, my stomach was moving a lot when I first started running, now it does not move as much since I have lost more weight. I don't know if that helps, but you might want to discuss with your dr and see what he/she says. You might just need to take a short break until the pain subsides and then start back up again. Good luck with your running!

Michelle~ Get better would you! Lellow~ Good luck with the unfill, that has to be hard. I had a good week, finally: lost 2 lbs, down to 191. -
Kathy~ I am wondering where the spring in my break is. It is snowing right now! Argh!
-
Mac - You're my hero! How do you fit it all in? I have started training for the tri, it is a scheduling nightmare - but I am working on it!
