Carol~ Sorry were rained out! That must be tough when you are all psyched up and ready to run and then you can't! Will they be able to reschedule any time soon?
-
Have my first sprint triathlon on Sunday. Very nervous, just hoping to get through the darn thing. Of course the heat decides to set in this week - go figure! I picked up my registration and now my nerves have really kicked in. I will be in the last wave with all the newbies, so that is somewhat comforting.

8 minutes off your time! WOW! WTG! You must feel great about that.

Are you taking any rest days with your running? If you haven't done so already, I would get your feet/stride analyzed at a running store. They can suggest a good shoe and insert if needed. You can also do some Water running, that would take the pressure off of the heel. Don't know if you have access to a pool or not, but it could help. You would be able to keep up your aerobic fitness that way. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!

I also have the summers off and find it hard to not snack when I get bored. It is a bad habit and you have to make sure you are asking yourself why you are putting the food in your mouth - are you really hungry or just bored? If bored - walk away - I know it is hard!! DON'T GO TO MCDONALDS! Problem solved! Make sure you are eating solid foods that will make you feel full - not slider foods. I fall into that habit easily - the foods are easy to eat and I know that they will go down. Write down everything that you eat for meals and Snacks for a few days - that is always a shocker, how quickly those little bites of this and that add up to major calories! I try to head outside and do something away from the house (kitchen) when I find myself drifting in there out of boredom. Are you exercising? This could be a good distraction from the boredom snacking - head out for a walk or bike ride. I know how hard this can be. I have hit a plateau for the past three months and I just want to give up sometimes, but I know that I would have never lost the weight I have already lost and I would have started gaining weight without my band. Be thankful that you have lost and keep your goal in sight. This is not a diet, but a lifestyle change that you have to make. Try to use the tool you have been given to help you make the change. I think that is the hardest part - changing the bad habits we have acquired over our lifetimes! I hope this helped - I tend to ramble, so hope it made sense. Good luck and stick with it!

Kathy~ I would try trails or packed dirt roads, they seem to be easy to run on. Not sure about where you live, but we can get a decent length workout on dirt roads pretty easily. I have found that I am a little slower when I am "off road", but it is easy on the knees and joints. My DH trys to get all of his longer runs (10-15 miles) on packed dirt, he just feels better when he is done. Lufferly~ Could you do some water workouts? I know when I strained my low back I was able to get back in the water earlier than back on the road. You might check with your doctor and see what he/she says. Have you been fit for a shoe? If not, you might want to go to a running store and have your feet analyzed and the right type of shoe recommended for your foot type. Be tough in this down time, I know how hard it can be. I remember feeling frustrated and wanting to get back on the road again. You may very will lose your motivation over the next few weeks. Try to find some alternative form of exercise so you can keep moving - it will make you feel better!

I love DDR, I am such a dork when I "try" to do it. It is a great workout and fun to boot! My kids get a big laugh fest out of it!
-
I will check and see what my sodium levels are. I usually don't add any salt, but I could be getting more than I think in what I am eating. Thanks for the support!

Kathy~ Is the pain from the distance or just running on the hard surface? Have you tried running on a softer surface at a longer distance to see if it makes a difference? I am sure you have thought of this before, but just thought I would ask:) I like the 5K distance too. I am always needing another challenge and I thought to myself, "self, you can go 10K it is not that much farther". I don't know why I do that! LOL! I was planning on working toward it this winter, thinking it would be good motivation for a spring run, but no. I went to the trail running intro class with DH as support and ended up signing up for the program. LOL!

Michelle~ WTG! Weight loss and in need of a fill - that is awesome! Keep up the good work.

Want to start running...need encouragement
krtork replied to Claudine1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Way too hot! Hope you hit onederland! It is a great feeling! Great job on the 5Ks! I am going to start training for a 10K trail race. I will start the week after next, after my tri, I am really excited. We will get out and see some new trails and I will be upping my mileage. Looks like it will be a fun group, we met last night. My DH is also in the group, but will be running with the 1/2 marathon group. Have a great weekend! -
Osangriared - congrats on completing your first 5K, it is always such a great accomplishment! Think of how far you have come! Yeah! Well, I ran today. Did the 5K course for my triathlon that is coming up next weekend (19th) and I ran the whole course with a good push at the end for the last 1/4 mile or so toward the "finish line". Last night I attended a class for trail running and I am starting a trail running class after the tri. It will be getting us ready for a 10K trail race in Sept. This is really good timing - I wanted to get up to the 10K distance and was going to start working on it this fall, so I guess I will start early! My DH is doing the 1/2 marathon distance, so we will be running some of the same trails, he will just go longer. Should be fun! Hope everyone had a great weekend and gets in some good runs!

Sun Tea, my all time fav!

Playing in the dirt! I love to be outside digging, weeding, mowing, gardening, etc. Not that I am any good at landscaping, but I am always moving or doing something. I love doing dog agility with two of my PRTs (Jacks) it is a blast and the dogs love it! I also enjoy riding and training my horse. I have always wanted to be "crafty" but the vision in my head never seems to make it to the project, somehow they always look different. LOL!

B - oops, forgot to eat L - 1/2 can Amy's chili, 3 crackers S - String Cheese D - 2 slice pizza toppings, no crust I am sure I will try a couple bites of cake for dessert tonight. I made my daughter a fun b-day cake for her 18th!
-
Ok, I tried the cake and it wasn't too bad. DD helped, so that was nice, she is much more artistic than I! Here are some pictures, thanks for the inspiration Kathy!
-
Ro~ Glad to have you back! Sorry to hear about the band slipping - sounds like you really went through a rough patch! Take it easy, keep healing and keep losing!

Mine are $100 per fill. I am sure it varies, but you should be able to at least get an estimate. -

At size 18 they would cross, but they cross very comfortably now at a size 16. -
Food "intolerances' at what stage did they start
krtork replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My intolerance seems to vary from day to day. Some things will go down great one day and the next - No Way! I have found that I don't do red meat any more, I have convinced myself that I will keel over and die if I eat bread (huge weakness for me!) If I start eating it again I am afraid that I would not be able to stop! I have added small amounts of Pasta - but have to chew really well. I think that chewing your food until it is mush is the key to being able to eat anything you want. -
Does anyone eat fruit in this forum???
krtork replied to soocalchic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Love fruit! I eat apples all the time and my fav indulgence for awhile was an apple with Peanut Butter - yum. However, I noticed the pb was starting to get larger and larger, so I cut that out! I have not had any problems with bananas, peaches, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, blackberries or raspberries. All seem to go down just fine! I love summer! -
My doc and nutritionist want us to eat our meals in no more than 20 min - with 15 min being optimum. Theory being that the food is all in the pouch and gives you that "full" feeling you are looking for. I guess if your food is cold, you could zap it in the microwave, just to warm it up a bit. I liked the baby food warming dish idea - clever!

B: honey greek yogurt/flax granola L: tortilla chips & guacamole (1/2 avacado, tbl mayo & salsa) D: 2oz chicken breast, potato salad, grilled veggies, watermelon S: Lemon sorbet
