  1. I agree with Restless, you have done a great job! Now you just need to get back on the "band" wagon. Don't wait for tomorrow, go out today and get the foods that you need so you can make good choices. I don't know if you are exercising or not, but that is always a good stress reliever. Sounds like you could use an outlet for dealing with the life change. Get out and walk/run/bike/swim, whatever it is that you love to do! Do you have a local support group? That might also be helpful! I think by getting back to LBT and looking for a shoulder to cry on and a swift kick, you are ready to get back on track! Good luck!
  2. Tutornmom~ That is a great NSV! I hear ya on losing and regaining the same 15lbs over and over. Isn't it nice to be on a road that will help us with permanent loss! Michelle~ Thanks! I am also hoping that it sticks! Crossing my fingers and praying! It would be nice to lose a few more pounds.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

There is bad history and lots of it. I am glad that it was a mellow visit. I am hoping we can open the communication lines back up. It would be nice to put this aside! I love to work in the dirt. The dirtier the better! Pull weeds, mow, garden, landscape, etc - absolutely love it! However, working inside is not my idea of a good time - can't stand it, always last on my list. So, when you are done everybody else's house, you are welcome to come here and help clear the clutter! I hope you don't go! She will go away in time, people will get tired of her nasty attitude. KC, you are a girl after my own heart. We have 4 dogs (right now) and 2 are rescues. When I was a kid I was always bringing home stray dogs and cats - drove my mother nuts! Then I started bringing home horses. I am a sucker for four legged furry friends! PJTP: Okay, so I went for a trail run this morning with the running group and I fell! :tongue2: Again in the exact same spot! What a dork! Now my knees match and I have a scratch on my neck. I bounced back up and kept rollin' and actually had a good run.

Ok, so DH and I had our Trail Running class this morning. There are alot of people, it was fun. He did the 1/2 marathon group and I did the 10K. Well, we ran the same trail the other night. So we take off and it was super dusty, but who cares about a little dirt. Then I get to the spot where I fell the other night and guess what? I fell again - exact same spot! I am such a clutz! Bounced back up and kept running, have a scratch on the other knee now. Hopefully I will get over the falling thing!

The pool and junk food, must be summer! Bet DD loved it! Mine always did! Ok, that is too funny. I almost reminded you to make sure you left for the potty early when I saw your post this morning. Next time I will make sure and send the message! I had a pillow case with Bobby Sherman's face on it - kind of creepy now that I type it, but, oh yeah!!! Even had the silly 45s off the back of the cereal boxes for Bobby and David Cassidy. Ah youth, life was so simple! PJTP: Step-daughter is gone. She never asked for anything or even had a drama fit. Hmm, maybe she has grown up... We will wait and see, she will have to earn back trust and respect. It was rather awkward the whole time she was here. It would almost have been easier to visit with a complete stranger, I don't know, it was just weird. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
  6. Karenv~ I agree with trying to find a therapist that you can work with, it will be a big help. You need to stop the negative self-talk - which we are all so good at and look at what you have done so far as a step in the right direction. You need to get back on track and that is sometimes easier said than done! We all know how you feel. You have some great suggestions here already! One thing that I have done at my house is have a dedicated shelf in the fridge and cupboard that have all of "my" foods on them. Nobody else can touch. This has helped me alot. When I look in the fridge for something to put in my mouth (old habits die hard), I have my shelf to rummage through. I only have good choices on that shelf. The same thing goes with the cupboard. My other suggestion would be to plan. It is so important to plan, especially in the early stages of your band. I have 3-4 standard "meals" that I can go to. They are easy and I can mix and match them during the week. It also helps me to know what I am having that day so I don't feel the need to go to the cupboard/fridge looking for something/anything to eat. I hope these suggestions will help! We all struggle at some point in the process, so don't give up! Looking for help here is a great start!
  7. Hopefully you are getting in some water - you don't want to get dehydrated again! I would go in and demand that the doc does something right away. You shouldn't have to wait if you are having a hard time just getting water down. I hope that the doc gets you in ASAP and helps you figure this thing out. No fun coming out of surgery and feeling that horrible! I didn't have the same problem you did after surgery, but I did keep little 1oz plastic "shot" glasses full with water, so I would remember to drink. Maybe the small size would help??? Hope you feel better soon - keep us posted on your progress.
  8. Everybody is different and they respond differently to having surgery. Some people are back to work within three days and others it takes a little bit longer. Just make sure to do what is best for you. Your body does need time to heal, so I would suggest not pushing going back to work any sooner than you have to. I think Donnainva has a great suggestion in seeing the surgeon right away to get a medical excuse if you are not feeling ready to get back to work on the planned date. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

    just saying hello

Go to the food and Nutrition forum. Food and Nutrition - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum There are tons of recipe ideas and I always follow the "what did you eat today" thread. I get great ideas on what others are eating and it helps me vary the foods I eat too!

    Want to start running...need encouragement

Never thought of it that way! Good one  Claudine~ hope you like your new shoes. Nothing better than taking off in new comfy shoes that fit! I love hearing your confidence about running - I am sure it has also filtered over into other aspects of your life. I love running for that reason, it not only gets in my needed exercise, but I feel better, I look better and it does relieve that nasty stress!

Tap~ Yeah on the sleep! Boo on the raining! It will be 95 here today and we don't have airconditioning, yuck! Lu~ Send hubby this way, someone that loves to cook, my dream! I cook and mow, hmm, something just isn't right with that statement. Throw on some sunscreen, turn on the iPod and mow away! Nothing like a little solitude. G4E~ Button and zip - oh, yeah! Great NSV! Heartfire~ Love The Monkees! Used to watch the show when I was a kid! Oh wait, dating myself! Off to get a massage this morning - decided to treat myself. Then home to do more weeding and mowing, never ending cycle! Last day for step-daughter, she is with her dad all morning, maybe the reason for the trip will be revealed? Have a great one, rain or shine!

Yeah for the fill! I am still denying that the eye sight is going. Getting old is a bitch - looked at my hands the other day and thought they were my mom's - OUCH! Sorry about the insomnia! Grab some sort of tech manual or text book - should help make you sleepy?? Hate the satellite company! Just think of all the housework you could get done. How kind of them to move you up to Monday morning - obviously the could have done this in the first place??? We live out of town, so they wait until they have several appts in our area before they will schedule - makes you want to go around to all the neighbors and pull down their dishes! 20's may be a bit young for me, but fun to look! Maybe I should get out more often!! Or, maybe I should just get out! One glass of wine and I have numb lips, can't get a full sentence out. Love my tequila, but I have not been brave enough to go there since surgery almost a year ago. Agree! PJTP: My step-daughter invited herself and fiance to our house for a short visit. Ah, how kind of her. We have not heard from or seen her in at least six years and she pops up out of no where. Still wondering why she is here and what she is looking for! Needless to say, whole house is stressed and not much fun right now! She will be gone tomorrow night - very late, but gone. I lost weight! Yeah! It has been over 4 months since the scale actually went down - praying it sticks! You are a fun group - hope it is ok to join in!

    Anniversary Challenge

Michelle - WTG on the loss, especially when you needed the fill! I have to lose 4lbs to meet my goal of 185 for Aug 5th. Crossing fingers and hoping!
  15. Ladies~ Great losses this week! Well, you won't believe it, but I lost weight - finally! No more 193 - this morning I was down to 189! OMG! I hope this holds, if I never see 193 again I will be sooooo happy!!!

Kathy~ Glad someone else has taken a tumble :cool2: How fun to be on your second round of 5K races! GA~ It has been a long time. Hope you can get the headaches under control, sounds miserable. Well, ran in my new trail shoes today. Had a great run along the river, it was a nice 3.9 mile loop. Ran almost the whole way except for one big huge hill. I saw my supervisor on the trail and he said he can't believe what a difference a year has made. He was happy to see me out running and enjoying myself. Nice to hear those things from other people every once in awhile.

Sounds miserable! Hope you get to feeling better. Hated braces - 4 years and most of that was through high school - lovely! My DS uses baby Anbesol (sp) to take away the pain when they get tightened so he can eat - might help.

    Anniversary Challenge

I hear ya! I have been the same weight since March- it really is getting old! Seems like the scale won't budge. I upped my exercise this week by an additional 30 min a day and I think  I might actually be down a couple of pounds tomorrow morning when I weigh. I did jump on the scale last night and I was surprised to see the needle down! I agree about getting in enough calories during the day. I do use Daily Plate and find it helpful. It also shows a pie chart with your Protein, carbs and fats - so it is an easy reference point to see where you are getting most of your calories. Crossing my fingers that I am moving down the scale and will reach the goal I set for myself!

Carol~ If you start now with the new shoes, you should be good to go. I find that it depends on the shoe that I get. Some need more of a break in period, where I alternate old shoe, new shoe, and others I can just hop into and they are great! I am off to get new trail running shoes this morning. Ran in an older pair last night and my feet were killing me! I also was very graceful on the single track and went flying, landed on my knees and have a lovely scrape and cuts. Got right back up and kept running. Glad nobody was around to see it, but I am sure there was a squirrel snickering behind a tree somewhere! I am sure I will hit the ground again - I am not very graceful. My mom used to make me take dance when I was little - oh yeah, the big clunky girl and little tutu's!

Shoe suggestions for a fat chick?

It is not a gel insert, but it is like an orthotic insert, they come in different shapes and forms to help your foot fit better in the shoe you are wearing and help make whatever correction you need for your stride. I really do love mine and switch them out between my road shoes and my trail shoes.

Stick with it! I have been in a plateau for 4 months now! I have been training hard and have not lost a single pound, just rebounding around in a 3 pound range. I still feel better than I did before, I am fit and that is better than gaining back the weight. I am doing the positive thoughts and trying not to get down about it and keep moving every day. Everybody loses differently and I am sure that the scale will move down again, my body is just adjusting to the new me!

Shoe suggestions for a fat chick?

You can also go to any running store and they will do an analysis of your foot/stride and recommend several brands and types of shoes that would work for you. That gives you an opportunity to try them on and see if they will work. You can then check online and find a better price if you need to. They recommended an insert for my shoes and I really like it. I went with the insert and waited on shoes, found a better price online. Good luck with your running!
