Mac~ WTG! I would kill to just get my mile under 10min! When is your 1/2 marathon?
-
Good morning - you have all been very busy! Ebony - "wog" I love it! What a sad story, my heart goes out to you. Call, email, whatever, make some noise on the job front. They will think that you care and it also puts your name at the front of their minds again. Good luck! Lu - sending positive thoughts your way for DH BF! Heart - yeah for DD! Putting your face under the water is the big step - the rest is cake! Glouc - crossing fingers for you on the job front! Beth - five classes! Man you will be busy! You would be amazed at the number of parents that try to control everything that their children do. They come in expecting us to change grades, etc. I have now been hearing that they are actually calling the colleges and talking to profs! OMG, I could not even imagine doing that! Guess it would make a for a good laugh for the prof and more incentive to give the kid the grade they get!!! So, I can believe that she called the recruiter and asked to let him out. Parents are crazy sometimes! I am sad that DD is leaving in the fall for college, but I am also so excited to see her get started on this new part of her life and to find out who she is and what she wants to do. I told her that I will probably cry when we drop her off, but she is not allowed to come home for the first 6 weeks. She laughed and said that was great, because she "has to leave before you can miss me, mom!"

Kathy~ sorry to hear about the weather, it isn't much fun when you can't get out and run! I'll also keep you in my thoughts as you try to get through the financial issues you are having - that is always such a strain on families. I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way for carrying the torch - that would be sooo awesome! I would take the shoes back into the running store and have them analyze your stride again. The shoes could have changed your gate and now it is showing up in other places. I have an orthodic like insert that I run in and I absolutely love it! Maybe they need to add something to help balance you out - or maybe they need to get you into a different shoe? I know that is not what you wanted to hear. Check it out sooner rather than later before it becomes an issue with your running! Slinky~ Praying for good weather! So I ran the route again - I know, stubborn - and I finally ran it without falling! Had a really strong run and felt good about conquering that trail! I did not realize how much harder it would be to run single track, but it really is fun! The altitude is definitely a factor, too, we live at 3200ft but we are much higher when we do the trail runs. Oh well, I come home all dirty and I have seen some great views, so it is worth it!

Now you know why I hate having to teach it! See what ya'll did, now say that to a room full of high school kids! Oh my! Penetration pricing, a low entry "price" strategy. . . Thanks for running with it, took my mind off of the bad news today.
-
I'm a giggler too. Can't stand when I have to talk about penetration pricing in class. I want to laugh and then all the kids starting giggling and I am supposed to be the adult!

Sorry about your loss. I agree, the parents sometimes have a hard time having to hold it all together when there are siblings, especially when they are younger. I have also seen the eldest child in the family have to hold it all together when the rest of the family is grieving. It is a no win for everybody. This really put a damper on the summer! Told DS no more river for the rest of the summer. I will pay for him to go hang out at the pool where there are lifeguards on duty. Good thing football will be full swing here in another week, he will be busy and not have much spare time!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Don't go crazy! Have you tried the SF Fudgsicles or SF Popsicles? They are flavorful, just a few calories and would be easy on your stomach. Do check out the food & nutrition recipe section, I think you will find some good ideas to make the Protein shakes a bit easier to live with. I also like this site: theworldaccordingtoeggface Tons of great ideas, including turning your Protein powder into an ice cream - yummmm! I hear ya on the carbs - my addiction - it was hard, but I worked through it. I am almost one year out and I have not had any bread - I refuse to eat it again, because I know if I start with a little here and there, it will sneak right back into my diet. When you feel hungry - make sure you have been drinking your Water, it will help with fullness, but find something else to do to distract yourself from wanting to eat. It is a very hard habit to break, but you can do it!

A student I had in class last year drowned in the river last night. Very sad. My DS was down there swimming and picked him up at 5:00, and the young man went under about 6:00 and never came back up. Heard they recovered the body this morning. He was going to be a senior this fall. Very polite, kind of quiet kid. It is so sad when we lose kids, just breaks my heart. I feel so horrible for the families - how do you ever recover from something like that???

Want to start running...need encouragement

WTG Ebony! You will love the C25K program. It is a great way to start running, it takes you up nice and slow. Make sure you do take the rest days, especially in the beginning - they are important to give your body time to recoup from your run days. You should be able to find a 5K in the fall. I found it to be good motivation to keep going in the program, knowing that I had a run that I had signed up for, plus, you usually get a shirt and other free goodies! Don't worry about going at your pace. I think that is important! You will find that almost everyone on this thread had to repeat days or even weeks of the program. Listen to your body and you will do fine! Welcome to running - you will get addicted! -
You need to follow your doctors advice, and my guess is you are not supposed to be eating solids yet! It may go down, but your stomach will churn to digest the food and can rip your stitches out. You need to give your band time to heal, so that it is securely in place before you graduate to solid foods. I also agree with Bunz - what are you thinking? Candy bar, fast food??? This is a time to heal and switch to a healthy lifestyle - which does not include fast food! Remember why you got the band, what your goals are and what you need to do to get there! Having to be on liquids and mushies for a couple of weeks is not fun, we all had to do it, but we survived and you will too. Go to the food and nutrition threads and look at ideas for protien shakes, there are things you can add (and blend really well) to make them a bit more palatable. You can do this! Stick with the program and the weight will keep coming off! Good Luck!

Beth~ Hope you were able to get some sleep last night and are feeling better about making a decision on what you need to do. Glou~ What a way to start the morning! Poor thing. I remember the coffee days - ah, sweet caffeine! Gave it up a few years ago, but coffee still tries to draw me in on occasion. When will you know about layoffs? That is so stressful to have hanging over your head. We went through that at the end of the school this year. My position was safe, but it still was bothersome knowing that others would be out of a job. Crossing my fingers for you! KC~ Heart & Lu have the right idea - what were you thinking???? I just think you have so many hot young things hangin' around, you don't know which to choose??? Sampling is always okay!
-
Oh, that is the pits. When you leave him, you should be able to resubmit the FAFSA with the change in status and get then you should be eligible for the grants/scholarships. I wish you luck with this!
-
Beth~ so sorry to hear about your situation. I agree with what Tap and Ebony are saying, you need to make plans to get out and move on with your life. You will be so much happier once you make the move! But make a plan and stick to it. If you are planning on going to school, make sure you talk to the financial aid office and get all the grants you can get! There is a bunch of money out there so take advantage of it. That is the teacher in me speaking :crying:

KC ~ super cute pup! The little ones always have big dog attitudes!

Took a sip of water, read post and sprayed everywhere! Oh well, the computer screen need a good dusting anyway!

I feel a little guilty....
krtork replied to beccab1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great suggestion. I always plan my meals for the week, shop on the weekend and try to get some of the cooking done, so dinner is easy when I get home. I love the crockpot. It is especially nice when I am teaching and both of my kids are in sports and we all have late nights. You can check out the Food and Nutrition forum for some easy recipes that you can eat as well as your family. -
As you are licking the chocolate from your fingers? Yeah! It is evil stuff, one bite and it is over, just can't stop wanting more!!
-
Sounds like our house. DH is usually the one having all the accidents though! That had to of been a sight!
-
Happy Birthday Heartfire!!
-
How about the Northwest too? It is beautiful here!
-
 Too funny! My DH is that way, always thinking about other things and not about what he is doing! So he decides to make mac & cheese for DD and I when we were sick a few years back. We hear pots and pans clanging in the kitchen and then a very loud yell and more banging pots. She and I start laughing because we figure he did something silly (this happens often). He decided to hold the strainer in his hand, picture hand under the strainer, over the sink, and then pouring boiling water and noddles into it. Oh yeah, he did it!:skep: PS: He was not hurt, got cold water on the hand immediately - so no worries.
-
I might buy some knee pads, just to be safe. When I have to run in a helmet, I think I will call it quits  I think I will swim in the morning, just so I don't get any more scrapes!
-
Slim~ put that 12 year old boy to work! Mowing, weeding, cleaning! Heck, have him take a cooking class while you are at it!:tongue2: My DS took foods in middle school and he loves to bake, and the great part, well depending on what he bakes, he is really good at it!
-
I would work for that meal! Yumm!!!
