Slim~ close call, hang tight and sending positive thoughts your way. Tell DS WTG! Love those report cards! Lu~ oh, the computer cooties got ya! Damn! Brandy~ pack me up some of that energy for exercise when you figure that out! I could use it this week! You need to head over the mountain and kick my butt in gear! Ebony~ Good luck on the job front. Keep looking something will come your way! WTG on the NSV - time for new pants! Glou~ that was funny! Pooly~ Hope you feel better. I hate swimmers ear. I used to get it all the time as a kid! I lived in the pool! Get that paperwork in the mail! Beth~ sorry DH is home and underfoot! Hopefully he will be "better" and back at work on Monday! Heart~ What trail did you take - dang girl sounds treacherous! DD is a trooper! Hope you are enjoying your stay in CO - I love living here! Kat~ I have wipes on my desk, next to the computer lab and in the student stores. I also have hand sanitizer in the same places. Trying to keep the kids healthy and sanitary - germ, germs, germs everywhere! PJTP: I am feeling better today. Went to the dr and was down 2lbs. Whew! I was worried. I may now weigh 1x per week. I think I can do it! I am still having some food issues and need to make sure I am eating enough. Sometimes I just don't feel like eating - but I know that I have to ugh! I also need to get my butt moving, I have not been on a run since Sunday. I am going to run tomorrow after school. Right now I really hate my insurance company. We went to a state run program last year (school dist decision) and have had nothing but trouble. So they paid for two of my office visits in Nov and Dec (last year) and they just decided that they wanted the money back from the dr office and it is not covered. HELLO! Needless to say I will be on the phone with the insurance company tomorrow morning. Can you just decide a year later that you want the money back?? What??? Oh well, pretty frustrated and DH is super stressed now. Not fun. Hope you all have a nice evening and a great day tomorrow!

Suzanne~ I hope the surgery gets you back on your feet and feeling well! Keep running right up to the date if you can - that way you won't be behind. I think it is great that you have a plan in place to start running again after the surgery!! GA~ So glad to hear that the headaches are gone and staying away. You will be back on the road in no time! I bet it feels great to get back at it. That is great that your sister wants to start with you. It is always nice to have support and someone else that is counting on you to be there - great motivator! Well, I have been a lazy butt all week! Yikes! I am going to run tomorrow. I am actually feeling a bit better today.

Plain~ Bahhaha! Too funny! Tap~ Hope the eyes get better, does not sound fun at all! All the apple goodies sound delicious. Okay, the ex is creepy - eww! Lu~ The pup is looking good! She looks like she has put on some more weight - fat and sassy! How is the kitchen coming along? Suzy~ Glad you are doing well! Good for you to drop the additional workload, especially if you would have to work with someone that is not your fav! Kat~ Glad that DH had a positive outcome from his dr visit! LJM~ Hi! Pooly~ How's it goin? Beth~ I agree with what the others said about your DH! He does not sound like someone that you would be with at all! Good for you for taking some steps to have some financial independence if you should need it. Spring Meet Up~ Memorial Day weekend??? Patrick Swayze~ So sad! Okay, now I get to tell my Patrick Swayze story; so, back in the day right after they released Dirty Dancing - so he is super popular with all the girls - I am at the US National Arabian Horse Show in Abq and I run into Patrick! Literally run into the guy! So I turn and he is apologizing all over the place and I am standing there like an idiot with my mouth open, while my friends are rolling with laughter. So he turns and walks on and I finally find my voice and state that I will never shower again! My friends are dying because they have never seen me speechless! And that is my Patrick Swayze story. Oh, I did eventually shower. PJTP: DS is doing better, still feeling a little tight in the chest, but he is able to breath. It is hard to keep the kid down - he is mister on the go all the time! DD leaves for Corvallis this weekend. I am trying to be all brave, but I am pretty sad that she will be going. It will be hard to walk by her room and not have her there. She is excited but is stalling on the packing - so that is driving me nuts! I will get through this! I will get through this! I go in to the dr tomorrow so I get to hop on the scale - little nervous about that. I have not been feeling well today and feel kinda bloated, don't know what is going on, even a bit nauseous. Bleh!
-
mcrowder~ Just keep at it! You will be surprised at how quickly you progress. You will look back in 3 months and you won't believe how far you can run!
-
Yeah Brandy! It always feel good to accomplish your goals. I am taking today off, really wanted to run, but my stomach is feeling pretty off - not sure what is going on, but did not feel like running was going to help! Hoping to be back on the trail again tomorrow!
-
Tap~ Apple spice cake - yum! I made berry cobbler last night. My dad went huckleberry picking, so I mixed those with raspberries, blackberries and marionberries. Oh so good! Hope you have a good stroll - sounds relaxing! Pooly~ I wish I had a lazy weekend. I love just hanging out and doing nothing - I'm always too busy once school starts! Michelle and I met today. It was fun getting to put a face with the posts. We had a nice time at the park, even though it kept trying to rain. I think we might meet for dinner later this week before she heads home! Her DD is very cute and quite the daredevil! I think it would be fun to get together and meet everyone! If y'all set a date let me know, I would love to come!
-
Thanks! It was fun and I want to do another. I would have never thought I would have been doing this last year at this time! It is crazy what a difference one year can make in your life! Right now I love my band!

Want to start running...need encouragement
krtork replied to Claudine1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Bill - I did it! Finished my first 10K! Woo Hoo. I did not have my best run today, but I finished and I was not last! Waiting for official times, but my nike+ was at 1:12. I have not found another 10K, but I am looking at a relay race and hoping to find some partners for the run. It raises money for the Family Access Network that helps kids in our schools that don't have much. Good cause, so I think I will be able to put together a team! -
Finished my first 10K this morning! Yeah! I don't have my official time yet, but nike+ said 1:12, not bad. I wanted to finish in under 1:15, so I accomplished my goal. It was hot this morning and I usually run earlier when it is cooler - I was definitely feeling the heat. I felt like I didn't have as much left at the turn around. But I did finish and I was not last!

Hi All! I haven't been on for a couple of days, not sure I have time to read and catch up - so I am jumping in! DS had to go to the ER on Thurs night after his football game - which they won! He was having chest pains and a real hard time breathing. His coach is a paramedic, checked him out and thought it best to send him and get it checked. He had to have an x-ray, ekg, and cat scan - everything looked fine so that was a relief. They said it was pleurisy, which is an inflamation of the lining of the chest, so it was very painful for him to breath. We got home about 1:15am and had to head to work at 6:30 - not much sleep! He is doing better and will be back at football on Monday. School has been hectic this week, but it is always hectic at the beginning of the year. Just trying to get in the rhythm is challenging. I like my summers! As usual I have had several challenges getting my computer lab up and running, printing, using the new copy/scanner - technology! I do however, like the kids in my classes, looks like there are some nice groups. My largest class is 43 in a very small room! The rest of the classes are around 30 - so not as bad. I ran my first 10K this morning! It was a bit hot and I really noticed the heat. I usuallly run earlier in the morning. I was able to complete the run in 1hr 12min - my goal was 1:15 - so I beat my goal! I usually have more at the turn around, but it just wasn't there today! Oh well, it was my first one and I did it and I was not the last one across the finish line for the 10K. I hope everyone is well and having a relaxing Sunday! I get to meet Michelle today when she comes through Bend! Waiting for her call - pretty excited!

It's the Tap and Slim show in the morning again! Love it! KC~ Oh man that sucks! We had somebody do that and make a ton of purchases on ebay - I was at a horse show and DH thought I was buying all kinds of weird things! NO - somebody had our card number. The CC company caught it and contacted us. Make sure you also reset your passwords, just to be safe! Lu~ I would love for my DH to travel. I like the down time. He hardly ever goes anywhere, but it is nice to have a few days here and there. I am the one that travels with my students and he hates it! Doesn't want to care for the kids, animals, yards/plants, and house by himself - too much work! No kidding!!! 5-Day Pouch Test~ thought about it, never have started. I will be cheering with Tap from the sidelines! Go KC, go Glouc! Well, I thought I would check in during my lunch so I was not so far behind in the evening! BBL!

Hey all it is late and I wanted to read and catch up before I went to bed! School starts officially tomorrow! I believe I am ready to go! Kind of excited to get started! Ebony~ Good luck with the job situation - sending you positive thoughts! All the fried food sounds fantastic! But ugh, I don't think I could do it anymore! Michelle~ Can't wait to see you! It is supposed to warm up later this week - so check the weather before you leave town. I hope everyone has a great day! Hopefullly I will have more time tomorrow. Of course that will be after I run!!!!
-
Kat~ Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope that it works out for you. Kids need their grandparents. I love watching my kids with my parents. They really get a kick out of being with the kids. Slim~ I hate the patchwork paint. My DH painted our house and he did all the patching and priming and it looked like we had a polka dot house for almost 6 months! I hated it!! I'm a get in and get it done kinda gal! Beth~ Read, read, read. That was the one thing I hated most about college. I would get distracted and read the same page at least 10 times! I feel for ya. It is worth it though! PJTP: I put in an 11 hour day at school. Wanted to get my work done, but ended up helping the kids get the stores done. At least I don't have any freshmen tomorrow, so I will have some work time. The clothing store looks really cool! I was pretty excited when we finished the display wall! I will try to get some pictures tomorrow, just have to share. The kids will come in tomorrow afternoon and finish up. I am exhausted! Ready for the weekend and it is only Monday night! Man!! I need to get a run in tomorrow so I am ready for the race this weekend! Oh yeah! Hope everyone has a great evening and Tuesday. I doubt I check back in before then!
-
No, they already know that you are a nut - they are just confirming it before you have the surgery!:sneaky: I love to grocery shop on a Sunday morning before anybody else is at the store. When the kids were little I would sneak out of the house and it was my down time! I am a nerd! The only problem I have now is that TJs doesn't open until 9 - what kind of grocery store opens at 9??? You get up way too early for me. My internal clock gets me up about 7 - well, my dogs get me up about 7! Don't beat yourself up! It is just water weight, and I think Lu said, just don't hop on the scales when you know you ate salty the day before. Make sure you drink your water today and it should flush through. Look who is talking about not getting on the scale! IT IS KILLING ME!!!! I just want to peek! Okay, I am over it! I might have to bust out and do the pouch test. I think I will get through this first week of school with the students and then go for it! I could use a jump start! Do you have a recipe for the zuc fries? Pass it along. Happy B-day to DH! If you workout you can eat more!!! Hope you two have a great day! Me too! PJTP: I woke up this morning and checked the temp outside and it was 35! WTH! That is way too cold for this early in the season! I hope this is not an indicator of the winter to come. My poor flowers were all wilty, hoping they perk up this afternoon. I really don't want to have to start hauling in flower pots every night - not yet anyway! I am going to be at school most of the day - it;s Labor Day, a day to work, right??? Need to get ready for the kids to show up! My room is an absolute mess. The kids were working in the student stores and they hauled all of their crap into the classroom so they could paint! Have to get it all situated so I at least have tables to use tomorrow!Oh well, it will all be done and I will be ready for the kids. I was redoing lectures and putting them into Power Point last night. Of course I just can't be plain jane about it, I have to have fun cool pictures and animation. Sometimes I make more work for myself than I want! Better get rollin'! Everybody have a great day!
-
Dang girl! That is one busy day! You were a regular landscaping crew all by yourself. I get in those moods every so often and watch out! I have a few branches that need trimming - noticed them yesterday when I was out mowing the pasture. Trying to decide if I need the chainsaw or the pullsaw? Chainsaw is faster - decision made! You should get some good sleep tonight!
-
Nancy are you exercising at all right now? If not, I would suggest starting with walking daily until your surgery. That will give you a good start and a nice base to work from after your surgery. The C25K is a great program that takes you from walking to running. The nice thing about it is the slow progression so you don't injure yourself. You can learn more about the program at: Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan You can take the program at your own pace and if you have read any of this thread you will know that most of us repeated weeks as needed to build up our endurance to run our first 5K. I would also suggest finding a 5K race this winter that you can sign up for - that is also great motivation. There are usually plenty of them around the holidays in Nov and Dec. Good luck with your surgery!
-
Duct tape and bailing twine are the only way to go! I really want a big puffy down coat and feathered hair, so let me know what mountain you run to and I will be there!
-
Lu~ Love the pic of the room! It is always nice to get art and pix up in the house - it really makes it feel like you are moved in and it is a home! Slim~ I usually do DS room when he is gone, but today he pitched in and helped out. Of course he was getting a kick out of modeling his too small clothes for his sister and I. He is such a ham!
-
Nice work! Sounds like it takes a bunch of time to get the walls prepped! I love Kilz, use it every time I paint. Love the fireplace!
-
At least you are getting a break! You could suggest homes in an area well away from you! Yeah, that means you got a great workout! Would love to see pix! I would do that! The first few times I took Jackson out with me he did not want to get his feet wet. Now he splashes right on through the creeks and streams. I have even been able to get him to drink out of the streams too. Of course, they are all up high and very clean, I wouldn't want him to get sick! PJTP: I had an awesome run this morning. The trail to Tumalo Falls was rolling hills, but a pretty good climb. I felt strong and finished with the front of the pack! We did 4.5 to start tapering for the race next weekend. Going to hang with the kids today. Need to clean DS room. DD is doing better this morning, some of the swelling is starting to go down. So pretty sure she will just be hanging out at the house. We might have to watch some cheesy Lifetime Movies!
-
Awesome run this morning! I did 4.5 on the Tumalo Falls trail. It was hilly, but more of a rolling hill - not super steep, even though it was climb. Beautiful views - I have to say, it is one of my favs and will definitely head out there again. I finished strong and feel good about that. When I first started I was running at the back of the pack. This morning I finished with the front of the pack, with hills and all! I am excited about the race next weekend. Kathy~ Sounds like a great weekend! Have fun. I love running with my dog - he really needs the exercise, but it is just a nice time to get out and be together.
-
NCLisa~ Wow you are doing great! Doesn't it feel good to bag up all those clothes!

Has anyone considered tummy tuck before goal?
krtork replied to jlray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jlray~ I would give your skin some time to adapt. It has only been a short time since you had surgery and with exercise you should see some firming. I hate the excess skin - drives me nuts. But I am trying to be patient. SoCal~ Thanks for the link. I am going to check that out! Greytz~ My face is really bothering me too. I did not realize I had so many wrinkles! -
Hair Loss - Will it stop?
krtork replied to RUKidding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We were talking about this in group the other day and everybody is different. Some people have hairloss after surgery from the anethesia (sp). That is any type of surgery so it could not even be related to your band. It sounds like you are getting in your Vitamins and the Biotin is supposed to help - that is what our nutritionist and doc recommend. So I would chime in with the others and make sure you are getting in enough Protein. I know my ponytail is much smaller, but now my hair seems to be growing back in - I have little wispies! That happened about 3 months after I started losing it. So a pretty quick turn around. For me anyway! -
The TJ Chicken burgers are really good too!
