Food Before and After Photos
TRAVELRN replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh my I never thought of this!!!! Thanks for the lovely idea!!!! -
When I get like that it’s because I’m not getting enough protein, so I drink my shake! Make sure you reread your meal plan and follow it to a tee. It helps! 1 week post op the mere thought of having to eat made me a little nauseous. First priority is protein. Make sure to ask your nutritionist contact if you’re not sure!!

Are you following your plan? How do you feel?

Tell me why the sleeve worked for you when other diets didn't.

The structure and inability to over eat plus a health scare! I don’t regret it at all!! I’ve learned a lot about my eating issues, why I eat and what my food triggers are. I think that’s one of the important things is taking a look at your bad habits and making new healthy ones!!! In my humble opinion!! -
It’s best to get used to how you’ll be eating the rest of you’re life. Smaller portions and preop diet helps!

Hi, I can relate to this! Sleeved 11/29/22 and I had the same feelings. I really leaned heavily on popsicles and jello. Finding what works for you is important and not get overwhelmed by everything. Get out your meal plan and really read it. There are tons of puréed recipes out there online just read. I really hope you have some positive support at home. Things are not going to happen overnight but if you take it one thing at a time one day at a time it does get easier. They aren’t kidding when they say it’s a lifestyle change. You will get through this and will see the fruits of your labor in how you feel and your confidence will grow leaps and bounds. This is for your health!! Just get down to basics and keep in good communication with your nutritionist and doctor.

Hi Sleeve done 11/29/21. Doing pretty well in my opinion. They don't really prepare you for the mind blown moment. At least that's what I call it. Today, this morning actually it dawned on me... my relationship with food would never be the same. This is a good thing for me. But when it hits you you don't expect that punch. I enjoy reading the comments here. Yall get it. Nannette Sent from my SM-F711U using BariatricPal mobile app

How to tell close friends I'm getting WLS?
TRAVELRN replied to Elsiegirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If it were my choice I wouldn't have let anyone at work know, but a coworker let the cat out of the bag when they saw my name on the OR schedule. It has my name and procedure. Nannette -

I make sure I eat a protein every 2 hours. Like HB egg. Couple of cheese cubes. Protein shake...etc I can't even have any fruit yet. [emoji53] I'm still on soft diet. Nannette -

Really bummed I didn't do a before picture the day before surgery. Nannette -
Do you know the estimated cost for your area? Sometimes your insurance company can help with that to give you a ballpark figure. Nannette

Joining Weight Watchers after Gastric Sleeve surgery.
TRAVELRN replied to calicakes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go!!! It's totally a mind thing I wish they stressed that more. Mindful eating is a thing. I was never mindful eating I was shoving stuff in my mouth as a comfort thing. When I was on my liquid diet per-op I logged it all and started writing how I felt at each "meal". I learned so much pre-op and realized a lot of things about my horrible habits. I'm close to 4 weeks out and I was told by my nutritionist no more that 800 calories. I barely make that sometimes. I can't imagine 1100 calories right now. I be sick. Nannette -

November Surgery Buddies!!!
TRAVELRN replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm noticing the same thing. Food that I once loved the smell of it just makes me want to hurl. I tried a sip of coffee the other day, I'm talking like 1/4 of teaspoon and thought I was going to die. My taste buds are so off. I remember getting into my room from recovery and had a couple of blister's and canker like sores in my mouth. I'm almost 4 weeks (11/29) and most are gone but I have one that is sticking around and think I better go to dentist. Annoying. Nannette -
Well intentioned compliments

I get it. Gotta shut out the noise and focus on one thing/on day At a time. Nannette -
Hi everyone new here. Not sure the etiquette here or what. I'll just start and if I need to post to certain areas, kindly point the way. I had my sleeve done 11/29/21. So far so good. You go through so many emotions I wasn't expecting. Kind of makes you take a step back and think a min. I've been really working on pace. I've always been a fast eater. Yesterday was feeling good and picked up my bottle to swig some water. For a second I forgot, but I caught myself and slowed my roll. The mouthful I had was 3 swallow very carefully:) No one around you gets this. And it's do hard to explain. It's a journey I am seeing and I'm only at day 3....I'm excited and happy for the first time in a long time. This is for me and no one else. Super hard for me too and that's most of my pain. I know it. But slowing way down helps. Sometimes I'm my worst enemy [emoji854]. Nannette

November Surgery Buddies!!!
TRAVELRN replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 11/29 Down 20 lbs at one week appt. Started on soft diet. On soft diet 2 weeks- down 10lbs. So far so good. I noticed that I fell back on my Water once I started on the soft, and I could tell. So I worked on that and back up. I'm comfortable at 3-4 ounces of Protein but that's as far as I can get. I'm severely lactose intolerant so I can't eat "regular greek yogurt". But I found this yogurt by Ratio its Keto friendly and it doesn't bother me at all.its a thicker consistency and definitely filling. 4 oz and I'm done.. I use Isopure for my Protein Shakes it's whey isolate and doesn't bother. I can use Atkins but not everyday. It's a process learning what works and what doesn't. Definitely not boring!! [emoji23] I went back to work on 12/20 and was exhausted. Today was a little better not so wiped out but still tired. I hope everyone has a blessed holiday. Nannette -
I live with my mom, she is 80 and I moved in after my step dad passed. She did all the cooking and is a country mom, gravy this and fried that. I cut down on sodium last year and she did too for a bit. Its been challenging talking to her about why I eat what I eat now, and the amount. She thi KS I'm starting myself.. I showed her a picture of a funnel and explained it to her.. she does understand more now.. She has been very supportive. Nannette
