I just had my fist fill on the 15th with no local or any numbness. I was totally nervous more about this than the actually surgery but it was totally pointless the most I felt was a bit of presser thats it. good luck with your journey.

    1st post-op appointment down 22lbs.

congrats on your weight loss so far. That is awesome that is how much I had lost on my first post op visit. Again congrats and keep up the great work.
  4. So sorry to hear about your loss....... I had my surgery on a Monday and on that following Wednesday morning I had a function at my son and daughter's school I felt fine for the most part. Getting up and sitting down was the hardest but manageable. Again sorry about your loss and will send some prayers up for you and your family.
  5. I too have had these dreams. I am seriously surprised by them and when I wake up it takes me a minute to realize it was just a dream and I am thankful it was only a dream and that I did not really just eat a double quarter pounder and fries from Mcdonalds. I have been banded a little of 2 months and am still having these dreams about once or twice a week and like you I am not really feeling deprived in any way.

    hi as you can tell

As soon as my insurance approved me I was scheduled for about three weeks later. It had to be at least 2 weeks for your preop diet. I also agree with the last poster stay on top of your insurance co. I have BCBS of Georgia and they tried every trick in the book to deny and they even did deny once but in the end I was approved and my only regret is that I wish I would have done it years ago. Good luck to you on your journey.

Why did YOU get the Lap Band?

I got banded because I wanted to be healthy. I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I knew that if I did not do something soon and drastic I would not be around to see my kids get married and have kids. I wanted to have the energy to go outside and play with them not just sit and watch them play. I wanted to be a better mother and wife. I just want to add that Ihave been banded almost 2 months and have lost close to 50 lbs. and just this past week we took a trip to Disney and I rode every ride with my children and husband and not once did I think about my weight. It was an amazing feeling I never thought that I would have. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year!!!!
  8. Hey ya'll I am on mushies. WOO HOO!!! I went to the Doctor yesterday for my 2 week post op and he said I can move to mushies. So I came home and had some mashed potatoes and may I just add they were the best mashed potatoes ever. I have lost a total of 37 lbs and 13 of that is since surgery. I am excited and hope everyone is doing great. To all those who are still on liquids and having a hard time remember this too shall pass. It is hard but it will come to an end be strong and know it will all be worth it in the end. Hugs to you all.

    Sharp Pain

I was banded on the 3rd and last night could not sleep cuz all of a sudden I was feeling the same sharp pain in my rib area but on the left side. I don't know if it is gas pain or port pain. I have had the gas pain in my left shoulder and some in my chest but it was literally nothing compared to what I was feeling last night. It is better this morning though. So hopefully yours will pass too soon.
  11. Good luck to you two!!! Congrats!!!
  12. crystal1260

    I lost 100 lbs.

    Congrats!!!! Way to go!!!
  13. Hi all, I was banded on 11/3 so about one week. I am for the most part feeling good. I started feeling hungry today. Everything looks and smells so good. But I have not messed up and have convinced myself that I will stick to all the docs orders. I am on liquids for 2 weeks so tomorrow will be the start of week 2. Then 2 weeks of mushies so excited about that by the way. Then slowly start introducing regular foods back in. After being on the liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery I am sooooo ready for anything else. Hope everyone is doing well.....

    Proudly banded!!!!

I was finally banded on Monday WOOHOO!!! Had to stay one night in the hospital. So far everything is going good. Of course I am in a little pain and gassy. But I went to my daughter and son's veterans day program today and felt pretty good for the most part. By the time it was over I was definitely ready to go though. Now it is Wednesday night and just feeling really sleepy. Don't have much energy right now. I have one more day of Clear liquids before I can start back on my Protein shakes and some other liquids. Well i am glad to finally join all the other bandster and to continue my journey on here with all your support and encouragement and hopefully I can give some back.
  15. I am being banded at 7:30 tomorrow morning.:cool2::biggrin: I am sooooo super excited at this moment I am not nervous. The only thing i am nervous about is if something comes up tomorrow and I will not be able to go through surgery I don't know what could come up but with all the hoops and emotional roller coasters this last 5 months who knows. I can't wait till I am there and being rolled back to the O.R. I will be staying a night in the Hospital so will update on Tuesday depending on how I am feeling. Question: My daughter has a function at school Wednesday morning.........Do you think I will feel up to going??? I am not doing anything other than sitting it is a veterans day program.

    Shrinking Liver Question

I am on day 11 of my 2 week liquid diet that i was advised to go on by my surgeon. This consist of 3 Atkins advantage shakes, 3 special K2o waters, sugar free fat free Popsicles or Jello, and Water. That's it and this is what he said I needed to do to shrink my liver. It is so funny how each doctor has his own specifications.

    Got approved today!!!

It has been awhile since my first post months ago. I started this process in June and after a bunch of crap from the insurance BCBS of GA I am finally approved. It took 2 and a half months from the day my paperwork was sent in for me to get the call this morning saying I am approved. WOW!!! I had just about given up hope. I just wanted to share my exciting news!!! Will probably be getting banded on November 3rd. So woo hoo!!! Thanks for letter me share.:eek:

    Got approved today!!!

The best advice I can give is call twice week and make sure your surgeons office is doing the same. Be persistant and don't give up. I got a denial letter. NOw I am scheduled to have surgery this Monday Nov. 3rd. So don't give up and make sure your surgeons office is working for you too. Good luck keep me updated.

    Got approved today!!!

Hello there when my surgeons office first sent in the paperwork, BCBS for about two weeks denied receiving anything. Then they said she was sending it to the wrong fax # then when they gave her the right fax # they waited about another week to tell us they only received half the package. So she resent it again for the 3rd time and they finally acknowledged they received it. So after about two weeks of calling and bugging them they told us that I was denied for BS reasons. Then the next day I received the denial letter saying again BS stuff that I was supposed to sign a wavier knowing all the risks and that I did not have a psych eval which I did. And the funniest one was that they said the surgeons office did not specify which procedure I wanted LOL when right at the top of the letter it had the insurance code for Lap Band and it also said lap band right on it. So finally my surgeon got on the phone with the medical director at BCBS and said that all they needed was a letter from my PCP saying I was a good candidate for the lap band then finally about two weeks later I got the call yesterday saying I was approved. I had to have a psych eval, nutritionist consult, a check up with my PCP who ordered blood work a chest x ray and a echo gram. My bmi is at 47 I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know and good luck on your journey.

    alli anyone??

Hello there, I took alli for about three and a half months before I decided to look into lapbanding. I stopped taking it after my first consult as the surgeon requested me too. I have to tell you though that I did not lose any weight on alli and for the most part I stuck to the plan religiously. That being said a friend of mine her husband took it and had wonderful success with it. So who knows but I would definitely ask the drs or your nurse before taking it.
  22. I really did mean harsh in a good way. I have read some posts on the forum of people not really understanding the beginning. There are a lot of hard things to go through in the beginning. I think it is important to know what you have to go through good or bad. I feel I am prepared for the harder parts in your post and again thanks for posting them. Thanks for the well wishes.
  23. WOW!!! I am not yet banded but THANKS SO MUCH for all the info!!! I have been doing a lot of reading on here and getting prepared and all this info sounds harsh and the truth. I think it is important to know that it is not a cake walk and that we still have to do a lot of the work. So again thanks for the post and am looking forward to hopefully being banded in the future. My paper work was submitted to the insurance yesterday morning so I am playing the waiting game. Again Thanks!!!
