  4. Hi everyone! I have not had the gastric bypass yet. I am still in my first 6 months of learning to eat healthy/dieting. I do have a question. What do you when you get sick? I have always been told drink ginger ale or coke with cracker, or my other got to is bread. It just seems to settle my stomach when I am sick and especially have to take meds. This town I didn’t want a shake, anything felt like it was make it worse, but the ginger ale/coke abs crackers made me feel better. Or just eating plain bread. I just know after the gastric bypass I don’t think those would be an option or most likely not the best option. I just don’t know what else I would do. Thank you in Advance!

    What do you do when you get sick?

    Yea, I told him I know medical findings says it shouldn’t, but it does help. The dr said no worries, he said on the occasion I get a migraine the only thing that settles my Migraine is a coke. I guess it’s just one of this weird things, but my family and friends have always use coke and ginger ale with saltine crackers when sick. Doesn’t cure it but helps settles it out so it’s not bad.

    I talk to my dr about it. He also let me know to try mint or peppermint tea. He said mint was suppose to help. The dr did let me know drinking small amounts of ginger ale or coke would not hurt but needs to be very limited. He said he understood cause he has heard of that before when nothing else helps.

    Negative comments from family members

    Yes, which is why I have not told anyone outside of my realm of those who I know will support me. I agree with telling them it is no longer up for discussion. Depending on your relationship with then maybe let them know those comments are very negative. I know for me, people who make this comments have a tendency to make comments about everything/anything I do in other areas of my life. Which I started setting boundaries not allowing those who demean or belittle me in mg circle. Not blaming them, but at the same time these folks are the same one that makes me want to emotional eat and never want to help be part of the solution. Just remember to take care of you, and you are doing this for you. Speak up! Those who are bothered by you speaking up don’t matter (let them go) and those who matter don’t mind you speaking up. They will be respectful and understanding.
  8. Hi, Has anyone ever experienced the Nutritionist and PA are in agreement on food/shakes, and the Psych Therapist disagreed with them regarding food/shakes. I am at the beginning stages of my journey, about 3 months in. I have lost a total 15 lbs. I go swimming ever night. I explained to the nutritionist and PA that I am super hungry after swimming. They have to eat small protein before swimming, then eat my dinner as planned, If that doesn’t work add in a shake or more protein. The drs office wants 3 meals a day but they are okay with protein snacks or non carb veggies/fruit snack The Psych therapist was completely against this and was very adamant about just doing 3 small meals a day, no snacks no extras etc.
  9. Thank you everyone. I agreed to listen to the drs and Nutritionist. My biggest concern with the psych that this would be the reason she would not clear me. She has seemed to steep in the role of a nutritionist. I almost wanted to switch therapist The reason why is because swimming burns a lot of calories. I’m not just floating or gentle swimming, I am either treading water or doing aerobics. The faster I go the more resistance I have. And it’s not just I want something to eat, it is hunger. I can try to drink water, but it’s almost like I begin to feel faint or sick like from nit eating. So then I just grab anything. If I know it is there I can have a plan to make sure it’s healthy, or sit the protein a side before it gets that bad.

  11. Hi, I am new here. I think I want to go with the gastric bypass VS the sleeve. The more I read about the gastric bypass and here of malnutrition because of lack of absorption makes me think it may not be the best option. What are your pros and cons? Do you regret the gastric bypass? What did you wish you knew before you chose the gastric bypass? Thank you you in advance!
