  1. I am also hungry - properly hungry - since my op 16 days ago so I guess I might be one of the unlucky 20%. Sticking to my volume restriction of 1/3 cup pureed whatever per meal and also taking 2 protein shakes. And a tiny cube of cheese every day. Cannot wait for soft foods, also keen to see whether solids will allow me to feel my restriction and to finally feel FULL!
  2. That's super useful - thank you! I'm just over 2 weeks and well into pureed phase. JoyLilith I can drink water pretty quickly too, and have been able to since day 2 or 3 after the surgery. 30 minutes for a protein shake or smoothie sounds perfect to me.

Sounds like you're in good (Irish!) hands. I hope you're getting over the surgery. First few days can be really tough. I'm 15 days out and eating smooth oatmeal and apple sauce for the first time - it tastes like filet mignon and bearnaise sauce (not literally).

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Oh I wanted to record what I'm eating just for my own reference later. Current eating routine is a protein shake in the late morning, protein mousse thing for lunch and dinner (takes me two attempts to finish the whole thing) and then pureed whatever I made for everyone else's dinner for supper (I cannot go to bed hungry). About 1/3 cup of that. I have one proper coffee in the morning and then pretty much sip decaf with milk and added skimmed milk powder all day long (same as ever). I don't eat breakfast - never have and probably never will now! One piece of cheese the size of a die when I take my tablets at bedtime - this is my routine - the dog gets one too when I put him in his crate for the night, LOL. Currently sucking that in a pretty disgusting fashion so no lumps remain when I swallow. I reckon I'm getting about 50g protein. I have at least another week before I can try soft diet - champing at the bit for that of course! What's your average day's eating at the minute?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Welcome to the club Daisy! The first few days can be really tough (were for me) but it's amazing how quickly you get back to normal. I am 15 days after my surgery and have still only lost only 2lbs since I got home on day 2. I'm eating around 600 calories a day at this stage but I did lose a fair bit before and during my admission so am trying not to panic. Went for a 2.5 mile walk this morning at a good pace and it was OK other than a big crash in energy about 1.5 miles in (glycogen running out???) Saw my surgeon yesterday, he's happy, and I'm back to work next week so trying to make the most of the final few days at home and get some christmas shopping done now! Hope everyone else is getting used to life with their new teeny stomach. I'm on pureed food now and it's amazing after 10 days on liquids. I never want to see broth again ever. 😝 Edited to say - I am really hungry a lot of the time - I hope this settles when I'm on solids.
  6. Hi, The November surgery thread on the gastric sleeve forum seems to have disappeared. Please can you reinstate it or allow me access again? It's where all my buddies are!

Ew, what's the poison tea? I only take one pill and I chew it up. Disgusting alright but a few swigs of coffee and it disappears.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Oh wow, that's much bigger than I thought! This is 30 minutes of everything you need to know for your first month or so post op. It has reminded me of things I'd already forgotten - well worth a watch.

Oh god how awful. Have you watched any Matthew Weiner on YouTube? Might be worth checking out - he has answers to a lot of problems that people experience post op. Are you sticking absolutely to the rules?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

It's easy. I started today - had my surgery 11 days ago. I made a Sunday roast and then just took the meat (lamb - OMG the tastiest meat EVER) and some of the veg (carrot, parsnip, cauli), a little gravy and a lot of water and stick blended it and it went completely smooth. Almost moussy actually. It was gorgeous after 10 days of shakes and thick liquids. And best of all, whereas I could sip a shake literally all day, six teaspoons of this puree and I was full. And I'm still full an hour later. I think this is gonna work out lads. So happy.

Oh that's really helpful to know Pete - thank you! Will keep the faith a bit longer. Most of my head knows it will start soon. There's one tiny dark corner that's telling me I'm wasting my time and I'm gonna be fat forever.

I really need to stop weighing myself. Still nothing off, and I mean not an ounce, in the now 9 days since I got home. Starting to lose hope 😥

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Really hungry! It actually worried me until people here said that it's normal. Liquids slip right through your new stomach same as before - it's when you go on to solids that you will feel the restriction. I have to space out my protein shakes through the day and make sure to keep something for bedtime or hunger would actually keep me awake. Well done on getting this far - it really does get a little easier every day from now on.

Do you still do 6 meals a day?

I wondered about this. I have never eaten breakfast but my dietician is absolutely adamant that I must now - no idea how that's gonna work out and it's good to hear some people can manage without.

    Start Pre-Op Diet Early?

Everything crossed for you this time LadyVan - six months is a long time to be ready and not taken - must have been so hard. I don't think it would do any harm to start it early - all the more loss and mentally it might help you feel you're getting things moving! Could you check with your nutritionist/dietician?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Hahaha ClareLynn I think that happens to lots of people somewhere along the pre-op road! So glad you've made it through the op - bet that diabetes will be a thing of the past real soon. I'm exactly a week ahead of you and that week makes such a difference! We're on the road 😍
