    Surgeriversary

Happy surgiversary summerseeker!! I had my sleeve the week before you (as you know). It's been great to have so many people here going through the same things at the same time. You've done amazingly well because you've worked so hard - enjoy every minute of your celebratory weekend. 🤩

    Accidently been drinking coffee

Yeah, adding my voice to the others - there was no restriction on caffeine/coffee pre or post op in my programme so I can't see you'll have done any damage at all. Hope you can relax into this.

    25lb more to go...

You have done amazingly well. I suspect when you hit your first goal you'll extend it and keep going. 💪
  4. Really good for those of us earlier in our weight loss journey to hear your story - thank you. Would it be possible for you to fill out your stats? I had no regrets at any stage but I guess that's just different experiences - ditto for hair loss!

    3rd and 4th week stall

Don't worry. We do not lose weight in a linear fashion. If you're sticking to your programme then you WILL lose - you cannot not lose. Everyone here has had stalls big and small, long and short - they are part and parcel of a weight loss journey. I know they are hard but they will surely shift. Enjoy your journey - it's so very worth it.
  6. Yes I agree - if you can tell us a little bit more about yourself then people may be more able to help. Particularly what you mean when you say you've stuck to your diet. What does that entail? Protein and water goals only? Calorie goals? Please let us help you!!!

    Meds and water

Definitely get the food in beforehand if you would be sick without that. Then swallow your meds with the minimum possible amount of water? It does get better really quickly I promise.

    Onederland!!!

Fantastic - well done you! I remember my return to onederland so well - one of the big highlights of my journey. 😍
  9. I probably wouldn't frame it as cheating, just a day when you ate more than usual, and maybe even more than you intended! Maybe that way you can avoid the negative connotations of the word. What matters is that you allow yourself those days occasionally and that most of the time you stick to your eating plan - which you are clearly doing. That's just life! I hope you can feel better about it, having discussed it here. Glad you enjoyed your workout too and I'm sure you weren't punishing yourself for 'overeating' but that's something I think we all need to be careful about in this strange new world post op. I learn things and consider new aspects to the surgery almost every time I read this forum. xxx
  10. We don't do thanksgiving here but last holiday season I was 6 weeks post op and eating at a relative's house. I hadn't told anyone I had had the surgery so I actually cheated on purpose that day so I could eat more than usual and not draw attention to myself. So I ate the carbs first, veg second, protein little and last, and I kept drinking liquid to get it all through my pouch. I've cheated on purpose a few times since too. It's useful to know the rules (and break them) in certain situations if you don't dump (the risk I took!!!) Also brought home to me how very easy it is to eat around the pouch - even that close to surgery I managed about half a proper dinner. I'll be doing the same this year. However - that isn't what you asked OP! When I'm eating celebration meals at home I do it on a side plate and just have a tiny bit of everything. And I have never felt like I'm missing out. I hope you can too.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I hope this was a pep talk and not a lecture! If it helps you refocus then brilliant. You've already done so well, he's probably just willing you to go further. I came here to wish all my November 2021 friends a happy anniversary. I'm just past mine, pretty much done losing at this point I think - I've lost 1lb in the last 5 weeks, but I am maintaining without too much thought. I still do track every single bite I eat, just out of habit, and I think I need to! It would be so easy to slip. I hope you are all happy with where you are, and that those of us who still have a bit to go can keep it up! Would you have believed a year ago you would lose what you have? I certainly wouldn't. 🤩 Just for the record I weigh 154lbs, that's a total loss of 122lbs since 2 months pre-op and 97lbs since the day of surgery. I'm maintaining on about 1400 calories a day on weekdays and probably 1700-1800 at the weekend because I drink alcohol then.
  12. My post-op programme didn't limit anything - no calorie goals, no protein goals, no fluid goals even! I learnt all that by being on this forum. I was told just eat as you feel. Seems just basic common bariatric sense to me now to get my protein in first, veg second, fruit third and then other carbs after that. Even now at almost exactly a year out I don't reach 50g carbs or anything like it most days. Other than weekends, when I *choose* to drink some alcohol. So many ways to skin a rabbit, LOL.

    Turkey Bariatric Surgery

Yeah Laura if you are a real person do feel free to tell us more about yourself and fill in your stats.
  14. I don't know what you're eating and when from your post but I just wanted to let you know that I have never, EVER been able to go to bed hungry, so if this is your problem I feel you. No matter what crackpot diet I was on throughout my life, I needed to save calories to eat for supper. I still do. Normally something filling but not calorific like porridge (oatmeal) with fruit, or even sometimes soup. Don't punish yourself for feeling what you feel - PLAN FOR IT would be my advice. Good luck on the rest of your journey. 😍
  15. Wow. You do you then! Hard to understand how someone else not in your shoes is doing after their WLS, isn't it? I do hope you can be happy with how you're doing.

    Lack of weight loss

Ok - breathe. When is the last time you lost 9lbs (for good) in 6 weeks? Or 59lbs in one concerted effort? YOU'VE GOT THIS! ALREADY! If you're sticking to your plan, as you say, then you cannot *not* lose a big pile of weight. It just doesn't come off in a linear fashion - you will experience stalls (many) and big whooshes of loss (fewer). You just have to relax into this and trust the process if you follow the rules - you now have your tool, if you use it properly you will lose an absolute shedload of weight. Enjoy the ride. 🤩

    1 Week PO update

Oh no! I hope it isn't anything serious. Sounds like you did exactly the right thing.

    Regretting the surgery

I feel your pain OP, it's truly miserable. So many of us go though this. Hang in there, you will soon be through the horrible post-op stage and onto the 'OMG look how much I've lost now!' stage. 🤗

    1 Week PO update

Really good to hear your update. I took two weeks off after my sleeve but I know lots of people go back sooner. Please do look after yourself. Can't wait to hear how you do post-op!

    Surgery today! Nov 3

Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you're well through the operation and out the other end now. I wish you a speedy recovery and a great result. You've done such a good thing for yourself. 😍

    Food after sleeve surgery

I think you might just have been lucky! Having read a lot here before my surgery I wouldn't have risked it. Good luck with the other stages of your post-op diet. 👍
  22. Fantastic post, fantastic journey, fantastic outlook and a fantastic future ahead of you. Completely inspirational - thank you for sharing Kim.
  23. I pureed all my family dinners at my puree stage (and loved them, LOL) but I was out of that onto soft food in time for the holidays. You'll be fine and back on solids in no time. Good luck!
  24. Spinoza

    Fruit

I eat fruit every day - mainly berries but also occasional apples and pears and melon. I don't have any problem processing them (I have been so lucky when I see what some people here have gone through). Loads of veg too including carby veg like root veg. Portions are small and I separate the fruit out from my main protein meals but I like to eat it every day, and I think I always will.

Low BMI obesity gastric sleeve option

I had a BMI of 31 at 44 years of age - also BMIs from 23 - 35 in the years around 44. I also lost lots of weight 'successfully' but was completely unable to maintain it *ever*. I just put it all back on and more besides, until my BMI finally went over 40 and I knew I couldn't live that life any more. I wish I had been able to have my surgery when I was younger (and yes, if possible when I wasn't as obese) because it would have been a lower risk procedure for me. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing your research and meeting a surgeon to see what information they can give you. There are risks, but there are also risks if you stay overweight (or get more overweight) over the next few years. You need to get as much information as possible so you can work out what's right for you. Best of luck.
